Oh ok, because judging from the video posted it would definitely take a lot of training to really do that during a match… Not saying impossible, but will surely take a lot of patience.
Kinda like how EX Kyo and Kim are on everyone’s team in 98, and Angel is on everyone’s team in 2k2, and Iori is on everyone’s team in 98um (ok that one is kind of true, but not because of his infinite lol). Athena’s infinite requires a more specific setup than any of those, and is very easily miss-able even if you land it, and on top of that Athena is not exactly the type of character to get in a situation to be able to land it.
I was being sarcastic and I was exaggerating. Didn’t even know Iori had an infinite in 98UM. It’s the command grab infinite that does shit?
yeap
I found it while trying to enhance a corner CC, I usually try to have one corner specific one, and one midscreen.
I also don’t believe it has much use, the only reason I say go for it is if you get the f+B to hit normally you can still combo a j.CD afterwords and be a safe distance away.
The main reason it is somewhat useless is because Athena isn’t a char that will have you in the corner, or really close altogether.
Not a big finding though, and wow the strategy guide had it.
I can’t see what it is properly (Bit unclear).
Am i correct in assuming it’s C+D (on a jumping opponent) > f+B > repeat. ?
Yea it’s C+D (on jumping opponent) then fwd + B, repeat. You have you time C+D so it hits at it’s highest hit spot. This way the fwd + B wont cause Athena to jump of them and just hit them instead for another juggle. The most reps I’ve gotten is 8 but it’s still pretty tricky to pull off. I would say she kinda needs it though but in the end chances of messing it up in a match is high. Unless someone gets the timing perfectly everytime I dont see a point to doing a full infinite.
I’ve gotten to 21 hits now, but at that point it is doing no damage anymore.
I say cut it after rep 4-5 (this also applies after a CC) cause continuing will get you crap damage for the hard work you’re putting out. Even run, stop, fierce masters all know when to quit, this is the same way.
I’ve gotten 3 reps in match after a CC (played a turtle) after a CC with 3 reps it does maybe a little over 50%, which isn’t bad cause I can beraly think of 35% CC’s for her.
But by all means, do not make a huge attempt into learning this, Athena players (still doesn’t warrant her to be on my team)
which game and whos combo is that? the runstop fierce one? (sf4?).
el fuerte in SF4
alright so it does stop doing damage after a while, which means it’s not an fatal infinite anymore? Thank goodness.
Who did you replace Athena with by the way?
No worry, you’ll never see it during a match.
She was replaced by Ash, though I can’t come up with a single good CC for him on my own.
yeah thats what i thought. i had trouble getting it to 5 hits max. and i dont think it was just the crappy xb controller, shit was pretty hard to get consistant. if somebody could actually utilize this in match play hed be dangerous as hell, casuse getting the first hit in is easy as hell.
Whats the best video capture card/device out there right now?
I’m looking into dazzle dvc but im not sure. Thoughts?
-Off topic-
So they knew about this but chose not to remove it? Or was the strategy guide written after they finished the console version and it was too late to fix it in the hard copy? (rather than with a patch)
They fixed Ralf’s arcade one so it seems weird.
Dunno, all one can do is speculate. Maybe they didn’t know, or maybe they had already shipped the game out for production (likely).
If you want an external hardware based solution, the Hauppauge HD PVR 1212 is good. If you want an internal software based solution with a bit more flexibility (and hassle), including HDMI inputs, the Blackmagic Intensity Pro is good.
I have the Hauppauge and like it. You can see some of my sample captures here. I just got KOF in the mail so I’ll try to put up some vids of that soon too.
Run stop fierce is really easy, not an infinite, and pretty hard to land the first hit. >_>
Run stop fierce pisses me off. I scream like a teenage girl when I get 5 hits. Then I go to EVO and watch people do 9 reps on the big screen.
Could someone please tell me what the point of adding ‘run stop hard’ except making it a bit more awkward to rushdown?
I don’t like it at all, but thats probably my biggest gripe about this game, otherwise its very good.
