I think it might just be a hitbox thing for Clark’s DM which is probably oddly shaped.

At 1:09 Clark was mid-dash already before Kensou’s DM started so he got grabbed right as it was about to come out.

1:27 I can only suspect that Kyo’s hitbox during his move is much bigger or moves forward into Clark which resulted in him getting grabbed. The only previous occurence of the DM whiffing up close that I know of (that has been recorded and uploaded) is against Duo Lon and that might just have been Duo Lon either being too short on crouch or his hitbox being smaller during c.A which isn’t exactly unheard of. I guess there’s not really an efficient way of figuring that out without getting our hands on the console release itself and sitting in training mode unless people willing to waste quarters (or get lucky with free-play and nobody wanting to play) to figure it out beforehand.

hmm but in kof12 attack startup/hit frames beats throw right? maybe he was in the recovery phase. or maybe they are changing the console version even, who knows

We could really use 2 video threads, for situations like this… some people only wanna see serious business, and yet, getting to see “the masses” try out KoF XII is interesting, and somewhat inspiring. We want this game to do good, so we want people with disposable income to go out, and buy this game en masse!

The Clark speculation is worth watching through those videos, and , every once in a while, it’s not all that bad to see some less-rigid, casual gameplay. But I agree that it doesn’t necessarily belong in THIS thread.

So I’ve noticed that no recent videos have Ash being on any team. Is he not as good as originally thought?

I wonder about Ash as well. We used to see him and Iori on almost EVERY team. Now it seems like no one GOOD actually plays him.

I would think his little summon-flames would give him some interesting okizeme/anti-roll strats, and really annoy opponents, forcing them to make mistakes. Hix C fireball seemed really great overall, but his damage looked to be on the weaker side, compared to powerhouses like Terry (or CHIN?!? XD)

I’ve been happy to see more Leona’s, and Ryo looks deady in the right hands. And I’m really starting to like Clark’s style, cancelling normals with Hops looks great for mindgames.

Are there any good Ash videos? I would like to see him use the Sans-Culotte DM and Thermidor instead of just the Pluvoise kicks. Also, I would like to see Genee too. I’ve heard that Sans-Culotte is pretty useless though.

lets hope its the latter. because as far as XIII remembers it it only happened once. but i have seen at least 3 or more vids of clarck missing or getting hit out of his dm point blanc range. that is not very kof’ish. THIS is what a kof is suposed to be like, point blanc, or even a lil further maxed ranged dm throws going THROUGH hits and what not. having a dm that already has to be done point blanc range miss or get hit out of just plain out sucks.

I was chatting it up in IRC some time ago, and a person told me that the reason the DM whiffed on duo lon is because cr. B shortens the hitbox length, but only cr. B has those properties. which is why it whiffed on duo lon but not on kyo

yes, thats exactly how i want it to work. it works like that in sf too, nothng wrong with that. you can still escape tick throws, thats not a reason to make throws weaker, especially special and dm throws.

also doesnt matter new or old, some things should stay in kof. dm’s being comboable, superpauses, comboing into throws. some shit needs to stay the way it was.

that was awesome… i really hope snk brings back the old command grab priorities like before… loved dm grabbing benimaru & ralf through their dm start-ups… i just hope command grabs go through moves in the console version…

That Shen/Kim is amazing. Also this video proves something to me. Shen Woo is anchor material. I see in the future Shen will be kicking some ass.

Well I haven’t played the game and I don’t really know what’s wrong with it yet, but I think it’s good the way it’s designed right now. It gets rid of certain things like grabbing the tip of sweeps with your DM that is good since it’s pretty BS to grab long pokes like that. I think it’s not quite as fair if some characters can use certain normals to dodge DM Grabs, but it’s just a match-up thing. It’s not like you absolutely can’t DM Grab attacks as was shown in that Kyo vid.

I’m not sure about ST, but SF4 is the only SF I know where Super Throws are that stupidly strong. 3S lets you jump on super flash if you’re not in the middle of a move anyways. Just means Clark players gotta put more emphasis into setting up for the DM now, can’t just wake-up DM rushdown monkeys.
