that last post wasn’t so bad, it’s just his other posts were douchebag-tier. :wonder:

rogueyoshi - thats harsh man…“it’ll end up like NeoWave”…i can understand the low expectation but cmon, this is 98, this is SNK’s prime product as far as im concerned and you and i both know they want to avoid piling on garbage over a good game…i.e. changes to Goeniitz = not garbage, in theory it would make much more competitive as opposed to his SvC version where the system essentially fucked him over a bit…although, there was no need for OTGable Yonokaze unless it does roughly the same damage as Clark’s Flashing Elbow…
But that could be taken another way…since rogueyoshi thinks NeoWave is a good game.
So it depends on how you wanna take it…
It could end up like NeoWave to the OGs if they dont wanna play anything new…doesnt matter how good it is.
Eeehhh…as long as they keep the original version intact (because they ARE gonna include the original version, right?), I’ll be happy…
i dont think anyone’s posted this yet, if so i’ll delete
changes from cyberfanatix
Hmm… thanks for the info.
I wonder how EX Yama will turn out. I liked using Yama in the original 98.
Aren’t Orochi’s counters the ones where he extends his arm, and if the opponent gets too close, they crash against a mirror for some damage?
Wii version is still coming out right?
yep it is:wink:
Does anyone have any up to date detail on how Rugal(Regular non Boss) pars up in 98 Ult match??
SNK ironically has a poor rack record of keeping him competitive in games he “Officially” appears him (games he’s not a boss in).
so far everyone can agree he was much like a Dan of HIMSELF in KOF 98’ nothing of his moves makes sense, he was so slow and everything was punishable.
Even in the CvS series in Cvs 1 he was a mid carder
in CvS2 although he was supposedly “improved” in the second game, all the others improved more than he has so he actually ranks lower there.
CvS Pro Rugal is the most decent Rugal that involves butchering his moveset… Geese, Krauser, Sagat and Bison’s Arsenal are pretty much left concrete (although slightly tweaked) when they became playable, a Tiger Uppercut always has Good Priority, I don’t see any deterioration in Krauser and Geese’s Counters, and Bison’s Arsenal is still Bossly…
But Rugal’s Arsenal has been butchered consistently
The Reppuken Either does not come out fast enough (CvS Series) or recovers slower than any Projectile (98)
The Barrier is slow, useless and someone cannot combo into.
Godpress becomes open when blocked
The Kaiser wave either comes out too slow in opening (98) or becomes erasable in a non charged capacity (CvS series)
The Genocide cutter came from being a Flash Kick with WW Shoryuken priority into an open target with absolutely no use in CvS and in 98 (The D version had priority but very impractical)
Some of his regulars have remained decent but they never were solid, either he has long moves that comes out/recovers too slow or decent priority normals that have pathetic range.
Not too mention his speed, in (4 he had always amazed me that he was this huge ass Boss with Vega/Balrog like speed, and in his future incarnations, he was absolutely turtle-like in which even bigger peeps like Goro moved faster…
So I was wondering how they are gonna Polish him up in ult match… SF is Bison’s, Fatal Fury is Geese’s and KOF is Rugal’s IMO.
Kinda unfair to pick at his problems in cvs since SNK didn’t cause that. Pure kof characters would have seriously had the advantage of the more limited sf chars, so Capcom did some downgrading, stooping so low as to pit the oldest versions of most SNK characters against the most recent versions of their own characters. As for 98…you know that games where the boss is playable by normal means (no code or finishing the game required), the boss doesn’t equal insta-win. Everybody knows that. The version of Rugal you like is from a game that was kinda jacked-up, compared to the way 98 plays. SNK slowed him down according to his size. Nigga looms over everyone. Nigga’s built like a pro bodybuilder. You can’t be all that fast carrying all that weight. Next thing you know you’ll want him to have a damn air dash.
And you can combo into barrier. Try harder. Like with crouch lp, or stand close lp or lk (neither registers on the combo meter, but they work), first hit of :r: + lk (you can link off any attack into this, then combo first hit into barrier), crouch hp, or the first hit of close hp or hk. These work in both kof 98 and 2k2. So the thing is just that you, personally, can’t combo into the barrier reflect. With practice, however…
Probably he wants Rugal to be as fast as his son is and that would be brutal :wonder:
Not really in a 95 level of cheapness, but just toned down enough and STILL solid enough…
Sagat has never had a poor a$$ Tiger uppercut, his normals are still decent in every game he’s in, the integrity of his moves for example haven’t been butchered much… true they were tweaked for playability, but in reasonable terms, Rugal’s arsenal has IMO been downgraded MASSIVELY compared to how other boss got tweaks…
BTW i’m sorry if the SNK reference seemed to include the CvS… I just kinda find it funny that both SNK and Capcom keeps Rugal on some restraints rather than presenting him as something more solid…
It’s TRUE that though in CvS2 he is midcard (which is still better than Rugal 98), but the basis of his gameplay is way off from and you have to adjust it to compensate for (Again) his butchered arsenal.
i see what u mean, wanting a decent not so cheap version of Rugal.
but I think Adel fits that spot just fine. infact in recent kofs adel is always in my main team:lovin:
95 Rugal is Genocide Cutter is just godly
98 Rugal Normal is too slow
98 Rugal Boss Fireball around his whole body cheapness oh the good ol days the only one that can grab him out of that fireball protection is O Yashiro with HCB+P or a very well timed down Down + D trip down move can hit him out of it.
his cheap HCB teleport instant 6+ hits
his DP+K Genocide cutter was awesome if done right:wink:
2002 Rugal Boss still too cheap:wink:
so they should just give him adels speed i suposse:wink:
And NeoWave Rugal just plain sucks…lol.
Well, I would hope that they would do at least some things to help Normal Rugal out in UM. After all, now that Krauser and Geese are BOTH here, he’s gotta have some stuff to his credit…or else he’ll just end up being even more of a lame duck than ever.
Agreed.
if this post of yours implies that neowave is good, then you and i may have a few more heated words next time i run into you.
Lol.
little info 4ya
waddup all
if you use the dip switches to play orochi in kof97 the move they are referring
to is a projectile counter. orochi just nods his head and it doesnt seem to do anything. however if you do the b version he absorbs any and all projectiles even non destructible for triple meter. the d version absorbs and shoots back an enlongated blue fireball unlike any other in the series. kinda like uriens mirror. the more juice you give him the more fireballs he shoots back. ie ive been killed instantly by a 14 hit fireball barrage after trying to power geyser the bastard.never know though they might dumb it down to be like mizuchi’s.
if you guys have seen BigBangBeat i noticed something funny.
apparently i wasnt the only one who found the hidden animation for 98kyo’s new stance. these bastards went all out and used it to create their character Daigo.
i dont have any footage of daigo but if check his standing animation then check my link here. they’re crafty but not slick.
