The problem in going to FFA is not only the distance but the traffic. Right now I have tuesdays, thursdays, and sundays off. And also saturdays till 5pm. The only way to avoid traffic is by going there before 2pm and leaving from there after 8pm ( or going there after 8pm ).

About tourneys starting on a saturday at 7pm: Traffic is very bad before 8pm so either the tourneys are held very late ( not good ) or earlier.

Theres a chance I might be able to go today sunday, but it depends if I will have comp or not.

EDIT: I havent been to FF in more than 2 years and now I was checking the time and distance it will take me by using mapquest. Its just too far, so I dont even think I will be attending the tourneys. If somebody is willing to carpool then maybe, if not then its not worth it. Good luck to u guys.

Yeah man I feel you on that for real though; even though FFA is a bit closer to me I still have to take the bus, and I have to leave from there at a certain time or I won’t be getting home since the 158 Metro Bus’ last stop is around 7:30pm; if I miss that one I’m assed out:sweat:so it would be better if they at least switch the games around and have KOF '98 at 2pm and Garou later…well, unless someone is willing to pick me up too :wgrin:

And also…Garou 2?! Oh snap son it just keeps getting better and better! I hope its not a rumor though…

Not really; at least, if you consider that Final Fantasy is getting ready to have a slew of games come out with “XIII” in the title.

Furthermore, if you think in the context of the original JP title “Gekki no Kenshi” (which means “Swordsman of the Moon”, clearly referring to Moriya), then it just becomes even more of a non-issue.

But any way…if MOTW and LB3 truly are on the way (despite what Falcoon said about LB3 like 2 years ago…?) then whatever. It will just do more to showcase how KOF XII is looking to be the jumpstart of SNK going into possibly a new Golden Age.

has visions of a new, hi-res Moriya for LB3, and an older, grizzled-looking Terry for a Garou 2, and starts craving them both severely…

I’ve never really been into the kof series, but I think i might start up with this one. It’s pretty fun rite now playin with a couple friends. Hopefully I can catch the next ffa tourney, so see you all there.

At FFA whats the layout of the buttons for 98 ? … original neo geo style or new two top punches, two low kicks ?

We had a debate about this and whether or not to do it with 4 buttons straight across. The answer was that since Neo Geo Battle Coliseum is set up this way we’ll stick with the new top/bottom setup.

The default settings for the layout are neogeo style for this game. The default layout for XI and NGBC was the new one but not for kof 98 UM. You can see it in the intro gameplay after u start 1 credit. This could be a major problem for most KOF hardcore players since we are all used to the neogeo layout ( and also a problem for the tourneys coz I doubt most mexican, as well as AI asian players, will join ).

There aren’t any BC moves like in other Neo Geo games, so it won’t make it hard to play in that aspect.

Think about it. With that setup only a portion of the players can play at their 100% while with the neogeo layout nobody will complain.
Eg: I play with yamazaki and theres a canceling move setup involving low A, qcb+A or B ( hold ) then D. The finger movement would be tricky for me in that case.

i like the setup at the moment. it feels good. in the tutorial after you put ur quarters i think it actually says A B on top and C D on bot. My first kof game so when i tried to do j.c, c, watever i ended up trying for awhile till i realised it was different. i do like it tho

I dont mind either button setup I can play on both layouts, just need to adjust a bit but it’s coo for me.
