But what’s going to be the story now? If the PS2 port going to come out any time soon, or are we going to have to wait for the Arcade version to run its course, and wait even longer?

What would you prefer? Just asking because I want the Arcade version to run its course personally…I hope this game is really solid very few things broken so I can use it in tournaments and not resort back to just plain Mary Jane 98. (No problem with that but whats the purpose of getting hyped for 98UM if we are gonna be focusing time on 98’)

Ok, those guys playing didn’t know how to play the game at all, or they were testing stuff out.

The animation doesn’t look “smooth”, when Rugal was moving around he looked like a stick figure.

As stated, the presentation looks bad.

Krauser’s throwing you up then fireball you looks cool. His SDM looks terrible though.
Yamazaki’s hair colour sucks.

Hmmm… Opinions are varied in Chinese KOF community. They all dislike the graphic because it’s like mugen. Tech roll is much harder? Guard break stun much longer (very good for Normal Yashiro). O.Chris’ 2141236A/C does less damage. Daimon unblockable earthquake is gone. Leona can move after she throws out 214A/C. Rugal/Chizuru guard cancel motion changed to standing C instead of C+D… Too many changes. Do I have to list them?

Maybe there is a difference between c/d and e… like e does little to no damage and is only usable off of blocks or something. It’s possible they changed things a little to turn C/D into simply a Samurai Spirits-style super-hard attack (that can’t be used off of blockstun) rather than just a multi-purpose knockdown move. It would be cool if ex specials were added and their motion + cd was the command to do them. Of course, not every move would have an ex version…

Too many changes, most of them are reasonable, except Iori’s 623A is totally unpunishable?!?!? Maybe I read it wrong, lol! Though the graphic isn’t impressive, the gameplay is unbeatable. You are a hardcore 98 fan you will love it.

If you are a hardcore enough, you will understand the changes did balance the game a lot. But the game base on what the players describe is another “NGBC”, or slow, or laggy sometimes… They will probably fix it after this loca test. Hopefully they can fix the speed issue. Everything else is good.

for being on taito type x(2?) hardware, it doesn’t look to be utilizing its power. i’ll reserve judgement on the gameplay for now though.

Kasumi being able to counter into Super in the corner? Sweet.

As someone who’s played NGBC, I don’t see slow speed. I think it looks fine- based on the vids. Slowing down a KOF game is rarely a bad thing even if it did happen though.
I can tell Kasumi isn’t as useless as I was afraid she’d be.

Notes:

Looks like one version of andy has full-screen fb AND Dam Breaker
Kasumi can high counter into super into the corner
Krauser has his RB2 powerbomb counter, and his RB2 command grab in addition to his Kaiser Suplex (2 command grabs?)
Unlimited Desire/Deadly Rave do not autoranbu if blocked.
Rugal seems to have a quicker reppuken
EX chars seem to be noted in red.
Big has a command grab now? (not Viva! TM Triad)
Big also seems to have an overhead now.
Krauser’s jump CD seems a little different
EX Ryo has the AOF1 HSK, I wouldn’t be surprised if Regular Ryo has the KOF style one. Forget if that’s similar to arcade 98, most EX Ryos just pretend they’re Akuma anyways. Looks like a motion for EX Ryo
The Super Psycho Ball wobbles it looks nastier then Bao’s 99 version. Also comboable off grab

Seriously there is input lag in 98UM’s location test version. You wouldn’t know it until you play it. At first they think it could be just the motherboard or monitor, but players found the same thing happen in another arcade.

95 Kyo got the old SE? I heard that his attacks and being KOed has 95’s sound effect? Interesting…

to me the game looks too fast, sort of like 96. Air cds look too fast look at krausers look at kasumis even ralfs.

Does anybody else smell a rat with athenas new dm? IE command grab let them drop do new dm either teleport behind them and try something or teleport in front HMMMMM!!! enough negatives though

Geeses raging storm looks like it might be a valid anti air, it was unbeliveably shit in 96, also does he have a deadly rave ranbu in just DM form? i swear i see him do it and are they safe on block it looked that way to me both his and krausers, i would love to know the propertys and prioritys i hope they’re not invincible if they are i can see another neowave young geese random deadly rave snoozefest

Krauser’s new grab is direct from RB2

I think those supers may be punishable on block, it’s a new game so people don’t know how to punish fully yet. I also don’t think they’d juggle, so you’d get one hit out of them if they were used as air D- so no Neoave Geese garbage- if they keep RB2 properties. I do like the raging storm being useable as Air D.

Those Air CD’s seem toned down from 96, especially Krausers. Ralfs looks the same speed.
