As I said, I’m not too familiar with 2k2, but from what I’ve seen in certain faqs about vainilla 2k2 and comparing it with UM, certain moves have been toned down in damage. About the NG Mode, it LOOKS like arcade perfect (it doesn’t has the characters from console 2k2). I’d say it’s a port of the AES version.

Okay excellent…Kane do you have AIM/MSN/Yahoo? if you have it I can easily help you out with what you need and help you get familiar with 2k2 etc.

If its a port of the AES version then I’m set…we can just use that as the KOF 2002 neo geo at my Phoenix Major and EP Major…

Re: Progressive Scan – try holding X + Triangle through bootup; this was the only way to activate it in 98UM. You might have to guess through a menu or two of Japanese to confirm your choices. I don’t have the game yet and can’t test.

From what I’ve been hearing from Kane BlueRiver who’s friend already has all the characters unlocked…

Because from what I’m hearing hes TRULY NIGHTMARE GEESE.

Confirmation he has 4 air fireballs…so yeah…the true RBS Geese is surely too strong…

But doesnt mean I won’t use my double Geese Team vs. Gualberto in Casuals…

Until someone does a better job at the mission list:

M01: do a throw escape 5 times
M02: do a ground recovery 5 times
M03: Guard Crush and defeat the opponent
M04: do a forward roll guard cancel 5 times (or what it’s called, i’m not sure)
M05: do a guard cancel 5 times
M06: defeat a character who guard cancels your every attack (hit, roll cancel, hit)
M07: defeat a character who keeps rolling and rolling and rolling
M08: do a combo that ends with a DM
M09: do a ‘normal > command normal > special’ combo
M10: do a combo that incorporates MAX activation (normal > MAX > special or some such)

That’s how far my noob skills have gotten me. It’s a great game indeed.

Okay you do that and I’ll post up youtube vids showing how I go through the challenges… (Some are easy but I hear they get harder like 20 hit comboes no Dms but can use MAXMode)

I have one… chars unlocked through cheat device, but still, you get all the chars. If interested, I can upload it. It’s in codebreaker format.

Some reaaaaaaally quick impressions:

Bao seems same as 2k, but got the 2k1 otg and his air d+B OTGs. hsdm vortex is p cool.
Lin seems same as 2k lin, but he can’t juggle of 2nd hit of fierce rekkas in corner anymore. Down c/jump are slower I’m sure you read the changes etc.
Jhun can oly do hsi super canel from charge d,u+P in the corner. You SC on the 2nd hit and it does about 40% of low b x2 low a, not bad.
New Chris combo: close c f+a xx turn into o.chris run up far c f+a xx orochunagi ROFL
o.yash wave thing is like terry C power wave, but its reaaaaally slow but you can link off it. Seems p useless.
Terry has DAAAAABLE KOOOOOANG (ie francos qcb+A from rb games)!
Xiangfei’s throw super, when it finishes it says ‘100 hits’ in rb2 font :slight_smile: You can juggle off her A+C, b,d/f+C, b+C super, but the super itself does low damage. Maybe a JF here?
Kim can still hit-check close c pretty easily, its just not a ridiculous window. flash kick off upkick super now does reasonable damage.
Iori super followup does very little. Maybe still worth the meter but it really depends on situation I think.
Hinako can’t connect f+B from st.B! She got some new moves, a hcb+K palm strike thats unrollable, and a dd+K foot stomp that otgs. In corner you can do low b x2, st.b d/f+A 1 hit xx hcb+B, dd+K.
Nameless cannot do kick throw > MAX super in maxmode :frowning:
Billy’s f+A feels maybe a LITTLE faster than 98 in recovery. Down A feels like it might be a smidge slower but might just be me. Other than that feels about the same.
Kyos better, RED kick hits crouchers and qcf+A feels exactly like 98 recovery speed.

I think in normal 2k2, it always hit crouchers besides very specific situations.

I don’t have UM yet, what character is being used? A basic max combo that most characters have is something like, jump C or D, close C, BC, run up close C, SDM. If this doesn’t get you the 70%, try adding in some command moves like f+A’s after your strong normals. If it still isn’t 70%…then you got to learn the maxmode cancel properties of the character’s special moves. Many vanilla 2k2 max cancel combos should still work in UM I think.

Yeah Emil I went over that stuff with him on MSN so he could get the idea about the vanilla bnb Max Cancel stuff…
