The Kazuya Mishima Thread

And with his slaps being +10 or more, blocking Hugo’s block strings may get you killed.

@Slayer Slice Thank You! Exactly what I deal with! @ ViolentDjango many thanks :tup:If you can could you make some match-ups for Kazo I’m no expert.

I’m still figuring out vs. Ryu. A lot of match ups you don’t need special strategies for because Kazuya has advantage against a lot of the cast. The ones I see most of the time are Hugo, Ryu, Rufus, Juri, and Jin; and that’s pretty much in depreciating difficulty.

I was actually thinking about dropping Kazuya since he doesn’t have any synergy with Marduk (who I enjoy playing a lot), but I guess I can stick to Kazuya/Marduk and work on match ups.

Something to note is that when you turtle against Rufus he’s prone to walk up for a throw – jabs don’t beat throws unless you do them early, but Mist Step is throw invincible which nets you a full combo if you anticipate the walk up, even if you’re wrong if you can fit a mist step in after a move you think they’ll try and to do anything other than a low attack after. Rising Uppercut and EWGF are both safe on block and EWGF gives you space to reset the situation in your favor.

I think, Hugo, Juri are definitive bad-matchups for Kazuya. Matchups that I find easy with Kazuya, are Steve, Hwoarang, Akuma - If you wavedash fast enough, you render his air-fireballs useless.

And if you can EWGF fast enough, you render Steve’s blockstrings. Hwoarang has no good lows.

How is Hugo a bad matchup for Kazuya? Definitely seems like it’s the other way around.

Care to give reasons why you feel that way?

Pokes buffered into EWGF dominate Hugo. Doesn’t seem like there is much he can do at Kazuya’s st.HP range. Kazuya’s pokes are vastly superior to Hugo’s, and lariat isn’t an issue as poke xx EWGF will completely beat it out and give you great meterless damage. You can also just whiff punish lariat(or other pokes) or just block and punish it as it is unsafe on block. You can EWGF right through cr.LP xx slap or cr.LK xx slap, or just use Kazuya’s backdash to escape the situation(it is one of, if not the best in the game after all). Jumping isn’t a great option either as EWGF will completely beat out splash while you can jump in pretty easily if he lacks meter. You can also just rush him down as Hugo doesn’t deal too well with that either. Yeah, you might have some trouble if he knocks you down in the corner, but the same can be said for all grapplers. It doesn’t make their bad matchups suddenly become good ones. Besides, this game has a ton of defensive options anyways so even that point isn’t a very strong one.

i think we should get concept matches up of how to play matchups / how they are played it would make everything less theory based and show people what really works and doesnt, should we make a thread for that?

How do you guys handle players that constantly jump in on Kaz? His Anti Airs are so unreliable.

EWGF if you can do it fast enough, WGF moves you forward too far usually to be reliable.

TGF: if you know for sure they they are gonna jump and if you hit them at the top of their jump arc you can get a combo of your choice on the way down (timing kinda strict)

Cr. Hp works good but often trades have to do it early in alot of situations, gets eaten up by cross ups though so you have to know your spacing.

ST.Mk: Works ok I just do not have much luck with it.

ST. Lk: I have a lot of luck with not the most damaging but its quick and does work well.

QCF+P: Has I think 2 frames of armor when kaz’s fist is all the way back, very tough to time but looks sick.

Ex qcb+ L.p: works good but meter dependent has upper body armor

Can always do naked mist step and back dash to get out of the pressure which seems to work quite well for me

Hope this helps…

I use his St. Mp, found out that you can score counters with it for God Fist or Devestator.

Perfect scenario

This character is broken.

Nice.

Exactly. Though it doesn’t seem like EWGF works well on crossup tatsu. I would even preemptively backdash and EWGF and I still wouldn’t catch it. From outside of close range cr.HP will be the AA of choice for beating crossup tatsu. You will need to time it though and make sure you don’t hit it too early or too late.

Had to do it from the left side to humble us, eh?! Lol good stuff guys, thanks.

can you ewgf after tgf or is it too tight?

Looks like a replay…
Pics or it didn’t happen

My only issue with this is Good Players are starting to jump over Kazo God Fist so be careful. Other than that it’s good.

Yes you can but it is semi tight, I have not tested how many you can do after though, 4 I am assuming I will go try it.

edit: if anyone wants to jump in the briefing room to work on ewgf and setups please send me a request I have yet to find someone to use the feature with.

If you start noticing that then it’ll be up to you to space yourself correctly in that situation. But EWGF kind of reminds me of Lili’s DF+HK. Amazing AA but doesn’t work if you’re too close. At ranges that are too close I think a simple Mist Step would be the safest option to escape the situation and reset the spacing.
