i think people is still scared and have fear to not be able to pull ewgf at will during a decent level match
atm i’m trying to focus on just the first ewgf because damage output is still awesome (for a non meter non tag non super/cross) even if you do something like
ewgf wgf hp wgf hp ewgf
we’re talking something from 350 to 400 with 50% the ewgf required to combo
I tested this in the lab yesterday and apparently I was wrong. The damage from the first one is 512 while the second one is 508, but the thing is the first combo is spacing dependent that you’re gonna have a hard time landing the last EWGF. You’re still better off doing the second combo due to consistency.
I think doing lk, lp, mk, can hit rufus, the initial lk is 4 frames startup and gives you a float if you complete the whole string, Idk but this might work, gotta go in practice mode, I think f+mk might work as well if you anticipate it and you get a counterhit groundbounce possibly.
I know for a fact that st. short will anti air that space right above his head, however its not totally reliable. I have used it before to some degree of success. His Right Split Kicks would have to be used when rufus dive kicks at around sweep range and done preemptively on rufus’s jump.
the amount of time required to get 100% consistency if you aren’t familiar with it already isn’t worth it when he can already do good damage in his combos with out it.
If you can do it more power to you, but i don’t think it’s required to be able to play this character effectively.
I don’t agree with that at all, no offense but that’s just laziness. Like manoftheleaf said, why limit kazuya? Once you learn EWGF you no longer need to use meter as him, except for alpha counters/tag cancels. This just opens more possibilities, for your defense, and for your other character. EWGF hits harder and is safe. Not to mention this game is all about time outs right now, with EWGF combos kazuya has the potential to win rounds in seconds.
"The amount of time required to get 100% consistency if you aren’t familiar with it already isn’t worth the time"
I’ve never played a tekken before, or any 3d fighter for that matter. Just frames were completely foreign to me before i started playing kazuya. I couldn’t do a single EWGF, and then like a week 1/2 later I was able to land the electric combos. Actually use some lab time and learn what makes kazuya so unique to any other character.
I’m sorry if I’m coming off as a jerk, I just really enjoy Kaz w/ electrics lol.
oohhhhh imma try that, but the reason why i said to mixup standing and crouching is to help prevent rufus from crossing you up because he has to do the dive kick a certain way to crossup a crouch and to crossup standing, and if he does the wrong dive kick you can punish sometimes because the guard stun def doesnt feel like sf4, it actually seems worse on block
not coming off as a jerk at all, that’s your opinion. The way i see it, it’s not really that much of a limitation. I think of it as having a 20 lb sledgehammer instead of a 15 lb one. Sure it’s great to have and extremely useful but i don’t think it’s REQUIRED to be successful with him. I do use lab time, and i can do one every now and then it’s just as you said im lazy heh. Plus spending hours practicing EWGF would eat into my KOF practice
uuugh… isn’t KoF execution heavy as well though? What isn’t appealing about a special that’s +1 on block that leads to death!!! ._.
In others news: After a blocked ewgf, what can we do to blow up ppl who are jumping out? If there is anything we can do. I’m talking mainly in the corner, you get spaced out pretty far mid screen to try to blow it up, but maybe s.mk could beat a jump attempt similar to how bison will do a s.rh after a scissor to catch jump attempts. After a blocked WGF i’ve tried s.strong and noticed that I think if i delay it a little it will beat their jump, also think you might be able to walk forward and c.fierce but that might be risky. How do you guys feel about the mix up post blocked EWGF/WGF?
yeah KoF is execution heavy in the same sense that ST was execution heavy. either way, it would be nice to see options other than “just do <insert EWGF> combo here>” for certain situations.
Shoto’s with meter, you might not want to go in, if you feel they are going to shoryu>tag. If they do shoryuken you can do EX Slaughterhook to beat that aswell.
Or you can do another EWGF to beat any option that they do, and if you made them go for a jump go air-to-air with j. mp, it’s his best air-to-air. If they neutral jumped you can go for Kazuya’s shoryu, like how Cammy does that with her cannon spike, because after a block EWGF you’re in the perfect spacing to do the Shoryu with Kazuya.
I usually follow up with cr.mp, cr.mk xx demon god fist or EWGF tag cancel to my partner to extend the combo. Either that or change the god fist to whatever suits your fancy.
