hey guys, I remember reading in the vague change list they released (where they revealed that wesker has the move where he throws his sun glasses) that Haggar’s cr.H now trips. any word on that? would that even be useful?

I’m surprised no one on the boards mentioned it. or maybe it was mistranslated and they meant it could OTG. anybody got a link for reference?

That’s pretty much the only real thing we seem top be gettin’ with Haggar right now. But I haven’t seen anyone really use it in vids.

Some of my Haggar point play with Taskmaster and Doctor Doom behind him. Made some mistakes but I think I showed how I deal with Wolverine.Jump back headbutt then pushblock any dive kicks along with Doom assist and Wolverine cant really approach.

Soooo, there’s no reason to use Hag or Tron in Ultimate Doctor Strange vs Nemesis 3: Fate of Two Strider Hiryus? And you’re dropping him Cheech? It’s gonna suck that we’ll probably see the same familiar faces (Wesker, Dante) and maybe some of the new characters in competitive play.

Never say never, bro. We don’t know quite everything about the new Haggar. We know he’s got his new and improved dropkick(hits OTG!), which is potentially a huge buff for him. I’m still sticking with the Uncivil Servant, even if he turns out to be worse in this version.

I remain optimistic for how he’ll turn out. Give it time, we’ll see just what new tricks the Mayor of Earth has up his uh…shoulder belt.

I actually just started taking this game seriously even though I’ve had it since launch, and I’m trying to think of a team to use. All I know is that it has to have Phoenix Wright on it. Debating whether Haggar will be worth recruiting when Ultimate finally drops.

Well the thing with Haggar is, I dont mind it being tough for him to get in on his opponents, its just he has little to nothing to stay on his opponents after he lands a hit.Also his combos only do average damage (around 650k) and they leave you in no position to mixup afterwards.

The only reason I think he is viable now is with a strong beam/projectile assist to get in and a DHC glitch to kill characters no matter how much health they have.That way, the hard work to get in pays off.Also random confirms off of drones/plasma beam can mean death which is pretty insane.

Of course there is no DHC glitch in Ultimate and they havent given him any other changes to his point game.In my opinion he needs drastic changes to his point game, like a buff to his piledrivers. If the opponent holds upback, Haggar has no way to open them up, as his best mixup tool (hoodlum launch M) becomes redundant. If they did buff his piledrivers, like giving him the ability to combo after them or something, then he might be a threat. Cr.H OTG is nice, but thats not a step in the right direction for Haggar, who should be a grappler with threatening command grabs.

Thats why I am dropping him in Ultimate. I think I’ll play Taskmaster,Ghost Rider, Doom in Ultimate. I love me some zoning and lame/chip tactics.

Hoodlum M and H sped up(shehulk speed!) also hoodlum heavy needs to be safe as he is falling and have a decent fucking hitbox.
Standing H and the last part of Hooligan H should be an overhead.

hooligan M and H should have one hit armor.

Haggar is slow and should have a little trouble getting in but when he gets in it should be a nightmare!! He should be more dangerous up close than any other character. with just those few changes you could have the grappler we all want. he gets zoned like a bitch but if you let him in you are in a world of shit!(FMJ Ftw)

i’m thinking haggar gaining otg drop kick can warrant him losing vanilla lariat properties. although, i’d much rather have original lariat over an improved on-point Haggar. we’ll see how that turns out.

i can not even trust that list because i havnt seen one person even attempt a command grab on stream even when i had my hands on the game i didnt even get a chance to try it out…

I wish H hoodlum launcher didn’t have such slow startup. It honestly doesn’t make sense. It ONLY grabs airborne opponents, and is incredibly unsafe when wiffed. But why? Other characters have nigh instant AA grabs in this game, or at least ones that are much safer.

Heck, look to other traditional, grapplers and see how flawed that move is. Hugos shootdown backbreaker, zangiefs AA grab in MvC2, both very fast AAs that essentially work the same as H hoodlum launcher, except they startup at a decent time, and neither characters are anywhere near broken in their respective games.

H hoodlum launcher is already risky due to it being incredibly punishable if wiffed, why make it so punishable on reaction too? Marvel is a FAST game, and having an AA grab that wouldn’t even cut it in SF4 is kinda ridiculous.

Now that I think on it, both M and H hoodlum launcher startup way too slow when you compare to other games and characters. Hell, look at she hulks command grabs. Her H command grab travels farther than haggars M hoodlum, AND doesn’t have that endlessly long wind up that tells everyone in the room “hey, I’m throwing out a command grab everyone!!!”, and it basically allows she hulk to do WHATEVER she wants, be it a launch into combo, or even switch out with another character. haggars locks him into ONE option (air combo), and is much, MUCH riskier to throw out.

All of haggars command throws need a major overhaul

Yes. Yes they do. Pushblocking already hampers him severely. He needs to be a nightmare once he gets in.
