The Jesse Ventura, I mean Haggar Thread (MvC3)

Well everyone knows grapplers aren’t viable in the VS series.

You know what is viable? An iron pipe to the face.

New thread title.

XFC on block into level 3 hyper works WONDERS.

Level 3 Hyper confirmed to be :hcb::atk::atk:???

Yes.

Level 3 does very reasonable damage, just not godlike. It’s scary as a high-damage, invincible reversal. However, punch super is so, so good that I see most Haggar players burning meter for that whenever possible.

Trag13 posted two basic Haggar combos on his channel:

When you stop and consider these are just basic, mid-screen no meter combos thats a lot of damage.

Also great positional advantage, which leads to his wakeup mixup - if they techroll and stay grounded, you get rushing grab, if they techroll and jump you get anti-air grab, and if they techroll and perform a reversal, well, you have great range and may be able to avoid it if you use meaty pipe instead of rushing grab. That sounded really creepy.

Dear lucky peoples that have this game already,

If I could just… witness the length of Haggar’s supers and grabs, you’d be doing not only I, but all of his other unluckier fans a great service.

Not quite!

Last night SprintGod found out that you can throw out his crouching C (the dropkick) and techroll forward once you hit the ground. It’s invincible and safe, and it moves him forward a pretty long distance. You can also roll backward if you ever want to, of course.

With a good cover assist this should help quite a bit, I would imagine…

Can someone check to see if his ground Pipe Bash (f+C??) has super armor. I believe it was mentioned earlier in the thread but I’d just like confirmation. Hell does he have any super armor at all?

I was using Haggar all day yesterday and I never noticed any form of super armor.

Is Haggar Viable at all? Is he harder to play as since he’s slow? Any good assists?

Man, fighting against someone using Hagger as a lariat assist is really annoying, can’t recklessly attack with it backing up someone. :frowning:

Also, a bunch of characters can crouch the lariat and it’s completely invincible up until the end, like the lariat in vanilla SF4. >_> And some normals will whiff with certain characters while crouching, but if you do others lariat will hit, so you have to be careful

using dropkick into tech roll is really clever. I was wondering why that move seemed so lame at first.

Gimmick to get people into grab super:

If the opponent is crouching lariat and is point-blank, throw it out and you’ll stop their attempt to possibly punish you in the recovery. :o At least, me and my friends were about to try it but didn’t have enough meter. I would test it right now but we’re too busy playing. >_>

2 questions:

  1. What are Haggar’s other two assists?
  2. Do they matter?

Also, when someone creates a combo thread I demand it be called either “Laying the pipe” or “Who wants a mustache ride?”.

He’s great! I played tonight. If I could pick him 3 times, I would.

Like the reveal vid, you can do a magic series into Violent Axe into command and then end with a throw. Its easy and damage is nice. I had problems with air pursuit, but thats user error I’m sure, it was hit or miss. You have to input things a little differently than I’m used to…this game is fast! Faster even than tvc-which is what I playing it like.

Also, down+c (pipe) is hella useful. It stops supers during startup (knocked Dante out of Million $!) and also his drop kick is great. Also great on the ground. He’s deceptive and powerful, and his lariat assist is amazing. As stated it DOES take your life when using him as a point character.

Haggar is my main for sure. I’ll play more tomorrow and test out some specifics.

i got the game larriet is godlike i wish his dash had armor rapid punch can be comboed after no armor on pipe smash …hes viable he has a hard time with some projectile users…and okami can just keep you out all day with with her whip…he has a field day with rushdown though. Pile driver does alot of damage on alot of characters but the higher the health the less useful it is…backdrop does a ton of damage… the air throw is fireball exchange button…
oh if you happen to x factor and get someone with the grab level 3 tell them to put the controller down becuase they lost…

Does assist lariat have full body invic but takes away some health too?
