The hype is countagious.
If I wasn’t currently in love Vanessa Morgan, I would TOTALLY rock a Roxy avatar.
This has been THE INVINCIBLE SWORDSMAN singing:
Me and my friends are JEM GIRLS.
JEM!
Jem is my name.
Exciting adventure, fashion and fame
Once you’re a Jem girl, it’s never the same
The show had a lot of detail. Still impressed by the NUMEROUS costume changes that the cast went through. In animation, redesigning new costumes is a huge pain in the fucking ass. Can’t think of another cartoon that paid that much attention to wardrobe.
Like so many other closet “Jem Boys”, I grew up watching this when my older sister commandeered the TV soon after the likes of Thundercats, Dennis the Menace and GI Joe already went off for the day. But even now, after I bought her the Series DVD Boxset and watching the whole damn series all over again? I can definitely appreciate some things that have already been mentioned, such as the details, the quality of writing, character development and even various in-jokes/references such as “Michael J. Badger”.
Plus, this show was host to some veteran VAs that have been in a number of other cartoons I would go on to watch later on in life. Charles Adler being one of them.
Used to watch Jem when I was 4. The dolls had real, light-up earrings!
This is Britta Phillips, the singing voice actor of Jem. She’s 48, and looks hotter than most 20 year olds!
Whoa! She’s a babe!
This has been THE INVINCIBLE SWORDSMAN saying:
Woooooooooooooooow.
Holy shit, i hope I look that good at 48! Truly outrageous!
Was this show produced by the same people as Captain Planet? The art style seems familiar to me. I actually started watching it through here too, because I thought it was related to Captain P.
You’re right somewhat - Jem’s animators also worked on Captain Planet - you can notice it pretty easily regarding Synergy’s design - she’s pretty much a purple Gaia:

Truly outrageous, isn’t?
This thread is excitement.
That Jem didn’t make it into UMvC3 isn’t excitement.
But it was compensated by her making it into SFxTK.
Make it double if Alisa is also in.
I remember Jem fondly though honestly I was maybe 5 when it originally aired. It was more of my sister who knew what time it was on but I enjoyed watching it with her. I watched an episode recently on Jem where Jem was trying to raise money for somebody’s medical bills doing acting, and them Misfits bitches kept trying to sabotage it all. Almost up there with GI Joe. It is also drawn so much better than a lot of modern cartoons, which look like shortcut flash animations.
Damn it, everyone beat me to the “so outrageous” jokes. But yeah it’s a little too fabulous and girly for me to handle. That’s why I only watch My Little Pony on the HUB. Manly as fuck.
