After playing through story mode again, I’ve finally put my finger on what my problem with Guile and Nash is. It’s not that Guile did fuck all. It wasn’t his story. Birdie, Gief, Mika, Dhalsim and Ibuki did just as little. Alex even less. Not everyone can be a main character.

But the other side characters got some resolution to their stories, even if they were minor. Even Mika and Ibuki got a nice little moment of working together against Balrog. But Guile didn’t get any resolution. At least give him a short scene where he debriefs ridiculous commander man. A nice little bow on everything, mission complete, maybe some somber words on how Nash finished his mission or Bison was stopped at a high cost, or whatever. Thirty seconds.

I’m pretty salty tonight, so what better way to calm down than to talk about Street Fighter? I’ll get to more of PVL’s questions to ease the salt. Btw, thanks for adding that to the guide, bak. I was glad Lord Vega came in and posted more about the Akuma/Bison stuff. There was a lot of things I had no idea about, so it’s always good to get various opinions on things. Hopefully @YagamiFire and @Shockdingo will be down to talk about this stuff as well since they’re also great with breaking stuff down in a concise or in-depth manner.

This is where things can get a bit confusing. Rose and bison were said to have a “Master/Student” relationship in her ending during their fight, which would imply Bison was the one who taught her this ability. Imagining Bison in a teacher role is pretty peculiar in itself, but it’s also stated that they share the same soul. According to AAC, Bison killed his master before going on a killing spree. Knowing this, I find it hard to believe he’d allow any remaining wielders of that power to live. My guess is any pupil connected to Bison’s master were caught in that killing spree. In AASFZ, it’s said Rose and Bison saw each other for the first time when he was in a limo somewhere in Italy.

After seeing and sensing Bison’s cruel aura, she remembered the words of her master, who told Rose there’ll be a time where she’d need to use her abilities for battle, and to know that Soul Power is both powerful and weak because it can’t “conquer”. That basically explains why Psycho Power is superior to Soul Power. Psycho Power is about domination, Soul Power is not. This also tells us Bison absolutely could not have been her master because he’d never utter anything like that…ever. Rose knew she studied under a **master **at some point in her life, but she doesn’t know how she acquired Soul Power. She just sorta became aware of this ability.

In my honest opinion, I believe Udon got this one right. Bison confronted his master after being gone for an unknown amount of time, and basically told her he’s surpassed her. Bison then says he realized the true strength in Soul Power was harnessing the negativity of emotions and desires. This basically went on to become Psycho Power. Bison believed the key to tapping into even greater power would be by releasing any remaining pure hearted desires from his soul. With that, he unleashed a huge burst of energy that killed almost everyone within the area except for Rose. That “positive” energy he released got inside of her and allowed her to awaken with Soul Power. The main difference here is how Bison did the master in compared to his canon backstory. According to that, it was with the Psycho Crusher, which actually makes sense given the significance behind the attack.

That was a mouthful.

In Alpha 3, Mika and Gief entered the Shadaloo base to see what was up with the Psycho Drive. When it started to crumble, Gief protected her from falling debris. As shown in Mika’s flashback in the prologue, this part of the story definitely happened.

Alpha 3:

Street Fighter V:

Karin also met Mika during this time and became her sponsor. The only other ending I could think of that’s carried over is Rose’s ending where Guy found her unconscious after Bison’s body exploded. His Super SF4 ending is nearly a mirror of that. A lot of the other endings in Alpha 3 really have no impact on the *newer *continuity.

It started with Gill hosting the tournament to see the various fighters of the world. During that tournament, Ryu lost to Oro and Alex managed to make it to the finals to face and eventually defeat Gill. After that, Gill wasn’t done with Alex. He still saw something special in him, so he waited for Alex to seek him out in Third Strike. Now, since there has been no stated conclusion, it’s really hard to tell how things ended up there.

Another important part of the plot was Chun-Li coming out of retirement to find Li-Fen when she vanished. Urien was the one behind her kidnapping, but he also knew Chun-Li was the one who took Shadaloo down. After testing her fighting ability out, he hands over Li-Fen without any issue. After that, you have other things going on, such as Twelve being sent to kill Necro, Alex getting bodied by Ryu, Akuma destroying a sunken ship, Oro “training” Ryu so he’ll have a worthy match in the distant future, Urien trying to take over Gill’s position as Emperor of the Secret Society, Makoto showing the world Rindoukan, Q mysteriously appearing in various parts of the world, and so forth.

I personally don’t think Gill’s “parting with the sea” ending took place, nor do I believe Urien actually blew up Gill in his pod. This is why Capcom needs to make the next game take place after Third Strike. A lot of this stuff could’ve taken place, but presently, we can’t be 100% sure if they did or not.

No. This was derived from a mistranslation, or a misinterpretation. Sagat looked at his fist or something when thinking about a way to counter Ryu’s Shoryuken. He never tried to help Ryu up.

I’m always down to try and answer any question. I’ll admit there could be some things I’m not entirely accurate about, but I’ll give the best answer I could, and hopefully someone more aware of the question could correct me if need be.

At least the hero of Street Fighter isn’t a cheating asshole.

He just used murder energy to win against someone he could never beat.

okay… @“Doctrine Dark” let’s try some more

  • What was the purpose of Sagat organizing the original World Warrior tournament back in Street Fighter I? Did he want to put his skills to a challenge gathering strong opponents, or was it an attempt to further set in stone his ego and the title of a King of Muay-Thai (and martial arts in general)?

  • Was the second World Warrior tournament organized by Bison to find him a replacement body exclusively? Or was he looking to find an addition to the Heavenly Kings cast? Would he care which body to switch to, even if the winner of the tournament would be Blanka, or Dhalsim, or Ken?

  • Do the character Birthdays mentioned in their Street Fighter II in-game profiles still matter (i.e. canon), or did they lost all their meaning since the 90’s, considering the series just stopped mentioning such details altogether (save for the Lair of Four Kings analysis panel stage KO)?

  • How accurately are the winquotes and outros translated in SFIV and SFV? I remember reading somewhere in this thread that Akuma’s ones have entirely different meanings and that Capcom USA made him a tryhard compared to his original Japanese ones. Not gonna question the callouts during throws, specials and supers/ultras since…well they don’t really matter that much since they’re still in character

  • Will they mystery of Ryu’s family/parents ever be solved? Why does Capcom keep this element of Ryu’s character under wraps pretty much since the inception of the series? Are they just afraid of ruining this “Lone Wolf” kind of thing going for him?

if anybody else ( @“Darc Requiem” @bakfromon @Miðgarðsorm) wants to chime in - have at it

Can’t think of anything else at the moment…

Finally, back to the real characters!

189: Homura Yuta

It’s good ol’ this guy!

Bah, more generic characters, how boring.

Not just any real characters, these are the Glade of Ninja, which means we’ll also be getting (closer to) the real Geki.

I hope they do village ninja shown in New Generation.

I legit thought that was a girl in Ibuki’s intro

“Real” Geki isn’t a part of the Glade of Ninjas, that’s Udon’s Geki. Besides, “real Geki” is dead in canon and has been replaced by Geki II.

I’m pretty sure Udon’s Geki isn’t part of the Glade of Ninjas either.

They’re an entire clan of generic ninjas known as the Geki clan.

That said, he totally SHOULD be part of the Glade of Ninjas. I demand a retcon.

That’s who Ibuki and Homura are with, they’re almost certainly next.

Oh, that’s right. Enjou was the former Geki clan member who founded the village in the Udon comics. I still say they should be a separate thing.

We just got done with those. @PVL_93_RU , I did too. I didn’t pay much attention to the sprite until now.

That dude is cool, i ever liked that sprite

It remind me a bit Shoma (the baseball kid) from Rival School wich imho was one of the 3 best charadesigns there

Btw Ibuki clan got many good designs, waiting the ninja guy of her ending and the Masters

Lol seriously, the character is so generic you thought he was a girl.

I don’t. SF has 3 ninja clans already(Glade, Kanzuki, Bushinryu). They really don’t need a fourth.

His name is read as “Yūta Homura”.
He’s affiliated with the same shinobi village as Ibuki.

Name: Yūta Homura
Height: 167cm
Weight: 63kg
Blood type: A
Birthday: June, 16
Home Country: Japan
Favorite things: Training, Mantou
Dislikes: Centipedes

A ninja who is affiliated with the shinobi village.
He’s a passionate young man who inspires to open his own store.
He trains alongside Ibuki and Sarai Kurosawa.
His taijutsu is great, but his ninjutsu is horribly weak.
He’s talented at playing beat ‘em up games.
Apparently, it’s a piece of cake for him to clear a whole game with *Jennety using one coin.

  • Jennety: aka Mack the Knife, aka Mummy Commando from the Captain Commando series.

So I guess Captain Commando is like Itchy and Scratchy or Crash Nebula in the SF Universe and not necessarily the future.

I can also see Homura getting along with David and Sakura’s brother.

I hope you’re feeling better dude. Thanks! I try

The Bison-Rose connection has always fascinated but also confused me. I agree with you that Udon got it down right. It simplified things and we got an awesome character design in his master to boot (it also nicely showcases why Rose uses a scarf, it seems soul power users have a totem/medium that transfers their powers or can be utilized as a striking weapon, yet Bison was shown not to need such tools).

The whole connection between the two needs to be cleaned up and summarized, but looking at the original killing spree and the idea that Rose had a master I’ve got a few ideas:

-After killing other soul power users, maybe Bison began to experiment and grow his abilities in vastly different ways than he expected. Maybe he found Rose and trained her not for altruism, but wanted to test out a theory or see what a more nurtured soul power user could do against him at his stronger level? If this is what happened (unlikely) then maybe he sought her out after she saw him in the limo. She felt something and was drawn to him, so I find it hard to imagine that if there was the smallest of connections, Bison wouldn’t sense her latent abilities in some form and pounce on that. Heck, maybe he theorized her as an early back up. Easier to build someone up with Soul power, overtake them then purge goodness out once he’s ready. Though I don’t know if he’d have foresight about his deterioration this early.

-Maybe Rose received training psychically from this last user
I think this may be a bit more likely, but maybe he thought he killed the last soul user but they were critical and either did the X-men 3 thing and body jumped into a comatose body, or they were found in time by a wandering bystander and nursed to some stable level. OOoooor they were comatose (no body jumping) and drifting in the astral plane and sought out a young Rose when the user sensed her.

Gill and Urien’s endings didn’t happen in my opinion. Gill most certainly didn’t change Alex and lead the people to paradise (boss endings tend to be non-canon anyways) and also, we haven’t seen the black moons cataclysm come to pass at that point, so no waiting for the fallout and a boy to lead the people to paradise yet (though with SF5’s events, who knows how this’ll change). I feel there’s a lot more to be done with Alex for the whole messiah plot, so Gill can’t be done in yet or else it’d be a rather abrupt end to Gill. that being said, I can see Urien’s ending as a future taste of things to come where he steps forward, becomes the head honcho and major villain for a bit, but something tells me, to complete the whole Messiah analogue Gill would return at the end somehow and they’d both end up destroying each other or Alex would somehow play his role but put a twist in things alongside the other heroes.
I feel there would be a moment that breaks the Illuminati resolve that shows they’re not divinely blessed foreseers, but just another cult doomed to crumble. Something would have to shake Gill to his core, driving home that he’s been wrong, and then you have to have something to break Urien. You can’t simply beat these guys up and move on to the next tournament. They’re a world controlling cult. To resolve the story, they’d either go back in the shadows for another day, or more likely, they’d be beaten, but in a way that their followers and organization crumble.

Overall, I agree we need a post- SF3 game or even an epilogue on SF3 to know where the events of that game stand in the new canon.

Oh yeah, @bakfromon would you consider adding the known excerpt from the Illuminati Prophecy? Could be a nifty bit of info to add to the guide.
