The more I think about it, the more the more I like the idea of Karin’s tournament in the aftermath of ASF as the setting for arcade mode. With several secret bosses for flavor.

This would be good, actually, like Chizuru in KOF 2003.

We’re down to the final EX characters. It happens to be the two mysterious Cycloid weapons.

Cycloid Beta AAC:

Cycloid Gamma AAC:

As we can see, both were weapons created to mimic the abilities of others. Gamma actually needs to absorb the techniques of others in order to improve, while Beta doesn’t seem to have the same requirement. Beta was also programmed to find and terminate Gamma. Their design seems to originate from the same source, so it seems strange why one would be built to destroy the other. Maybe we’ll learn why.

Cycloid Beta/Cycloid Gamma EX Ending:

Both share the same EX ending. No one knows what their real purpose is or why they even exist. Their uncanny ability to absorb and use the techniques of other warriors seems to be quite troublesome, though. We see that Akuma is mentioned as a possible solution in handling these dangerous weapons. I’m betting the “true warrior” is most likely referring to Ryu.

Cycloid Beta EX+ Ending:

Beta’s described as a weapon that just happened to appear and seek Gamma out to neutralize him. We don’t know if Beta was created by Barba or if someone else used Barba’s technology to create Beta. Since Gamma is Beta’s target, and Gamma was created by Barba to be used for some unknown intention that didn’t align with his (Shadaloo’s destruction) own, it’s possible that Beta was created by Barba to right to ship, so to speak. This is another one of those things that comes down to interpretation.

So Gamma was created by Pullum’s father to take down Shadaloo. Interesting. We know that Pullum has some relatives apart of Shadaloo, so it seems as if her father wasn’t a fan. Surely someone with the capability of creating an intelligent weapon like this would be scouted by Shadaloo. Bison loves surrounding himself with anyone of value. With the way “used against his own will” was mentioned, it seems as if there’s another party calling the shots. Barba vanished at some point, prompting Pullum to travel the world searching for him. There’s no telling if he left on his own, was kidnapped by Shadaloo to build newer weapons, or kidnapped by a third party for other sinister reasons.

The story simply takes place in within the story mode timeline but the matches is loosely base on story mode events because of random encounters and confrontations.

I do believe in akuma and sagat in the latter part season because of the fan demands but as a spectator for akuma and sagat as someone Ryu is to meet both not a dominant figure in the story of SFV.

I don’t think Akuma x Ryu needs to be revisited until after SF3:3S. After SF4, both characters went on to grow and develop their skills in different ways for different reasons. Narratively speaking, I’d only revisit Akuma x Ryu after Oro trains Ryu, which would take places many years after SF3:3S.

I would love nothing more than for Sagat and Ryu to meet up again at this point in the timeline. Both of them finally free of the demons that began gripping them by the end of that fateful fight in SF1. I would say that this encounter is narratively one of the most relevant and important for our leading man after ASF.

1- This is correct. Akuma should keep going down his shitty SNH path until he reach his almost-demon status. On the other side, Ryu after Oro will get the power-up he need to clash with Akuma at the same level.
Ryu will be stronger than Gouken is ever been, and Akuma will be in his most powerful version ever been

2- I will like see Sagat returning as a ridicolous powerful char (not Bison level, but very high and without ki “trick” to defeat him).

This is a fight where both can face each other without bullshit.

The training in mountains Sagat is doing during SFV can be the excuse to justify both a power-up AND a less shoto moveset

As i said many times imho Tiger Uppercut is the move that has to go, to make Sagat look less shoto as possible.

Also as story it make sense, as TU is Sagat’s salty butthurt way to try to copy/defeat Ryu’s shoryuken… and it’s weak that the greatest attack of a martial artist like him is just the copy of somebody else technique.
I will like if he develop a new ultimate attack, something very muay thai style… my pick will be something like that

To symbolize Sagat overcoming vengeance, he should definitely lose Tiger Uppercut - a technique he developed from his hunger to defeat Ryu. I might be in a minority on this but I also think he should regain his pupil (Not Adon) to symbolize his regaining of his humanity. SF5 has already taken liberties to show the passing of time and character development, so I feel these two changes fall in line with this trend and make sense.

I don’t like the art style itself, but i can see SFV Sagat with this expression

Midway/Netherrealm Studios is actually the only studio that keeps updating the designs of their characters from game to game while keeping some basic things so that a character remains familiar, and I like that. The series never grows stale, they don’t play it safe, and the roster remains recognizable thanks to the traits that they earned over the years (like Sub-Zero is blue, Scorpion is Yellow, Lui Kang is the Chinese Dude, Jax is the Bulky Black Guy, etc)

Capcom should take notes and be more creative, really Street Fighter V was the only time they actually bothered to update the characters’ looks in the 30 years that Street Fighter existed for

Sonya’s outfit in MK9 reminds of the Juri fans that wanted “censor less” Juri in SF5. I’m still lost as to why they wanted that.

One argument I could make is that the color balance of her outfit is UTTERLY borked by the slap-job censorship Capcom did.

Now, even without the censorship, the stupid, garbage costume would STILL be garbage but it would be balanced visually better. On a shear visual-design level I HATE the black cover-up job on her and would prefer it be undone.

In general, however, that costume is complete ASS and it’s a sign of how terrible much of Capcom’s design work has become since the new-age of SF4

Judging from concept art modern Capcom has come up with great designs. For whatever reason it’s usually the lame ones that end up being chosen.
