well this might not be his best artwork Bengus had to do a lot of work. making multiple panels for 16 characters isn’t easy. from what I’m read Capcom dropped a whole art department’s worth of work on Bengus. so the guy had a heavy workload and had to meet a tight deadline .

Future DLC characters (S2 and beyond) will receive their own SFA2 Arcade Mode style character stories only. The characters that make it into the Cinematic Story Mode are most likely only the launch characters + Guile/Boxer. Maybe also Urien/Juri. But that’s it.
Artistically, I’m not satisfied with SFV. I don’t like the re-usage of the SF4 art style but that’s not the main point; The character art, and the ingame prologue artwork just don’t look great, especially compared to the artwork made for say, MvC3 or something else.
MKX route probably, they remain as unplayable characters/npcs until they are released, though thankfully we won’t be getting a Rain or Baraka situation.
Believe it or not, but MKX’s 2D artwork for their individual character stories are actually better than SFV’s. Of all the games to have better 2D artwork than SF…

I’d take THIS Bengus art over anything else.
The presence of this girl further suggests that the events of SF5 happen closer to SF3 on the timeline. Hopefully we will see Mel soon and know for sure, but from the picture I think Mel is still a baby or a toddler because of the type of seat used in the back. So 2 years after SF4 and 1 year before SF3:NG/2i is my guess at the moment.
Are we sure of this? Who says they can’t patch in updated/new story with DLC characters in them? Kinda stupid to not have, say, Urien I there when he is one of the key figures of the current arc

Would it make sense for that rescued girl from Chun’s 3S ending to not be kidnapped in this story since it’s supposed to take place between SFIV and SFIII? I suspect they will eventually reach SFIII’s at some point but not any time soon.
Also why is Ken’s hair white in that screenshot?
Someone could correct me if I’m wrong, but wasn’t Street Fighter Alpha Anthology one of the last times Bengus did illustrations for a Street Fighter game before going on hiatus? If anything, the man seems to be picking up his style right where he left of at.

I can totally foresee another chapter of this story mode in the near future ie how they said the story will be progressing/evolving.
Cinematic Story Mode is designed to be a cinematic experience like the name suggests. You don’t patch in new characters into the movie once the movie is out already. I also am not getting Urien being a key figure here, he and his organization are definitely playing a playing and pushing their own agenda, but they are not receiving the spotlight or starring roles. There will mostly be foreshadowing of the Illuminati with hints and teases such as characters like Kolin.
If Urien ends up being one of the characters that are finished by Summer 2016, then he could have a place in the story after all but I doubt it. Guile and Boxer will get priority.
Urien will still get his own individual character story regardless. But the cinematic mode seems to be a one time unique movie-like experience, just like MKX.
The girl gets kidnapped in 3s not NG/2i. SF3:3s takes place 1 year after 2i. So her presence in Chun-Li’s life is perfectly fine.

Depends on when this story ends. If it ends like I suspect months before Gill’s tournament then it leads directly into SF3 with little leeway to add much. The press release specifically said that the story mode intends to bridge the gap, not overwrite SF3 and beyond. So I doubt they will release another story mode expansion that takes place during SF3. They would release a second story expansion if it will take two to bridge the gap, but that’s it I imagine.
They can still expand on the story and events with the individual character stories.

I am sure they will be included in the full trailer when it is released sometime in summer.

As I said, Bengus current art style is something he chose to do, not a consequence of a totally rushed work.
