The Inevitable Street Fighter V Story Thread: ARCADE EDITION!

Tiger Mask is actually a really old Japanese cartoon, so a lot of things that came after drew inspiration from it.

By the time of SFII the wrestler had eclipse the anime the character was based on.

I would honestily like a Street Fighter vs Mortal Kombat video game. Done by Capcom, with or without blood. With battle damage. With X-Ray combos. With Stage Finishers. And without Fatalities.

I don’t know, I just think seeing some of the Mortal Kombat characters in Capcom style would be awesome. Seeing Sub-Zero, Kitana, Liu Kang, Goro, in the Street Fighter style would worth it. Yeah, it would face big criticism, but I still think it would be a sales success in West.

As for Netherealm, Capcom could lend them some of their characters for Mortal Kombat XI (like the Shadaloo Kings, Akuma, maybe Demitri or Dante) as part of the deal.

I’d probably legit cry seeing any SF character get obliterated with MKX’s graphics and actual voice acting to it.

I don’t think characters like Ryu and Chun-Li should ever jump to a Street Fighter game.

But as for the evil Shadaloo kings, like Vega, Bison, etcetera, they could have a place there. I don’t know, it could be nice to see the Shadaloos and the Mortal Kombat characters killing each others with awesome Fatalities.

Street Fighter could’ve had Tiger mask for that all those wrestling moves. Instead you got ELF. Could’ve had tiger driver and tiger kicks. Got moves i dont remember.

Im never living ELF down because that concept exists, King exists, and just the fact that was a concept means Black Tiger could’ve been on the table too. Which just teminds me that Armor King wasn’t in xT and his moves are awesome to look at.

Damnit capcom and damnit fuerte.

The SF1 ones all say “My turn?” or like “When is it my turn?”. Joe uses “Ore” (young, brash guy style) to refer to himself, while Retsu/Lee use “Washi” (old guy style) to refer to themselves. Birdie’s stomach says "ないよ”, which means “There is none!”…in other words, he might be saying “You guys don’t get a turn!” I’m not sure exactly what the “ないよ” is referring to, but that’s my guess…

Joe’s then says “Rolling Sobat!” (the kick he’s using)
Retsu’s says “Regular Jump Kick!” (the kick he’s using)

Yun looks like he’s saying “Uncle, don’t sulk!” (specifically an uncle younger than your own parent)
And, Yang looks like he says “Big brother, leave him alone”

Lol, I guess Yang really doesn’t like people sulking. In his English SF3 quote against Yang, he’s like “If you sulk, people will call you Mr. Sulky!” or something like that. Who knows if that was in the original Japanese quotes, though…

For Mika’s crew…reading Japanese names from kanji is complicated, so you’ll have to leave that to someone more knowledgable, lol.

Upper left woman is “Maple Storm”.
Upper middle is “Sunrise [西船場]?”…maybe “Sunrise Nishisenba”?
Upper right is “Vivian 西木”…“Vivian Nishiki”.
Lower left and lower right are “雷華” and “風華”…these might actually be Chinese? Maybe “Leihua and Fenghua”, respectively?
Lower right is “Pepe [KANJI READING]”…“Pepe 石渡”…maybe “Pepe Ishiwatari?”

Mika and Nadeshiko say "Wow, there are a lot of them…"
Then, in tiny writing at the bottom, it looks like it says “there are still more”.

The one with Bison, Vega, and Fang says something like "Today, the dish available at the company cafeteria will be meatballs burning with Psycho Power!"
Chef Bison says "It’s delicious!"
Vega’s like "Uhhh…"
Fang is hype.

Don’t completely get the last picture, but I think she’s saying “Starting today, I’m working for you!”…I believe. And, Bison basically seems to be saying “Your voice is annoying/loud”

If I misinterpreted anything, I’d appreciate corrections…

Vivian’s last name, リ西ネ looks like it could be “Rinishine?”
“雷華” and “風華” could be read in Japanese as “Kaminarihana” and “KazeHana”. I think you could read them as “Thunder Flower” and "Wind Flower"
They could end up be a tag team

Psycho Power can not only burn a persons body while simultaneously brainwashing their mind, but it can also cook you a delicious nutritious meal at 5000 kcal!!!

That リ(“RI”) is actually a ン(“N”) which is the “N” sound at the end of “Vivian”.

EDIT: I’m dumb. Now that I look again, that might say “西木” (Nishiki) not "西ネ”(which would have been a weird mixture kanji and katakana, so 西木 makes MUCH more sense).

So, “Vivian Nishiki”.

Makes sense to me. Now we know each of the wrestlers that appear in this artwork.

And apparently there are more of them!

I really, really wanna see some SF1’ers return. Fingers crossed for future DLC!

So apparently R .Mika’s trainer; Yoko Armageddon, is president of Womens Pro Wrestling. She’s basically the female equivalent of Vince McMahon.

*“Pink” being “Nadeshiko”

Maple Storm is of Canadian decent, as evidence by the name, hockey pads, and Canadian Flag headband.
Pepe is Hawaiian!

Edit:** “Zenny” is the actual name of Shadaloo’s currency. The grunts costumes will change once every 4 years. Low Rank members who pass the intermediate rank test will be treated to the movie “Star Gladiator: Awakening of Psycho Power.”

Also, why didn’t anybody show off the best Street Fighter: Unlimited cover?

How cool would it be if the new boss is Gill and Urien’s father. He’s base element would be water.

The idea that Shadowloo produces it’s own movies as a means to award grunts is hilarious to me.

Shadowloo having it’s own currency is interesting. Combined with the movie, it seems Bison runs Shadowloo as if it’s a sovereign nation.

It’s like North Korea… But funny.

I love the Archie send up cover and whoo, this Canuck loves that one of the wrestlers in Mika’s circuit is a rep for our chilly nation!

Also hats off to all of you guys who are translating all the nifty sketches. I’m loving how much we’re seeing of Shadaloo!

I wonder how connected that delta red movie poster is to this bit of lore. Would be a hellva inside joke if its a direct reference lol.

Goddammit, let’s start a petition to rename Zenny into Bison Dollars!

I agree, as the term Zenny has been way overused in video game and anime culture. From Dragonball, Breath of Fire, Megaman Battle Network, Monster Hunter. The reason for this being that a form of ancient Japanese currency was also known as Zeni.
