I don’t think Rose is necessarily an error. Characters can have any name they parents pick. And I prefer how Rose sounds.

It isn’t that odd, but as @Cestus pointed out, it’s rather curious this Japanese tendency to foist foreign (mainly English) sounding names on Italian characters. And I said that Rose at least isn’t a mistransliteration, just an artistic license… and an artistic license the Japanese take a bit too often, I should add.
Besides, it’s not generally true that children can have any name their parents chose. While that could be true for Brazil, where there’s no law dictating what the parents can choose, it isn’t the same elsewhere. For instance, in Italy a child cannot bear the same name of his father, and this is the reason you can’t see a Mario Jr. son of a Mario Sr. But that is really nitpicking, as we’re speaking of a video game, after all.

I was on vacation while story mode came out, and finally played through it, and… Good lord. That was the most disjointed, dumb, awkward, badly paced stuff I’ve watched in a long while. Still kinda charming, though.

Rashid stands out as the genuinely likeable dude with a believable character arc. My only real quibble about him (besides his beard constantly clipping through his chest throughout) is… Jeez louise, guy, your friend has to have a damn NAME! But, still. More Rashid, please. Also buff him please as I wanna get back to playing him

FANG steals the show as a cartoon villain, too. Nice counterpoint to the boring float-around-and-grunt Bison.

The rest… Enh. Cammy and Charlie/Nash do their thing, and the Cammy/Juri pairing works out well with Juri MST3King her way through Cammy’s arc. (And yes, motorbiking across the Atlantic.) Zangief is hilarious whenever he shows up, and isn’t overused. I admit I lol’d at Sim pushing a certain someone out of the helicopter and then going “Yo… ga!” teleport

The Ryu thing felt… completely abbreviated. Hey Ryu I’ma leave you here to meditate and then destroy you. Okay guess you meditated and now you’re magically cured of your Dark Hado problems and you’ve got Jedi powers and no-friendly-fire Hadokens. Kay.

I dunno how much to expect out of a fighting game story mode these days. Haven’t played MK, so I dunno if they do it better. I know I was entertained, sorta, and the Rashid bits were mostly worth it.

Give me Rook & D.D. in SFV. Fuck it. I like their playstyles.

We don’t have a chain character in ANY SF and I want a Kyo-like character so bring on D.D.

Also we don’t have a rekka-character in SFV…so give us Rook.

Also…making Rook beefier in that profile picture eliminated the majority of my problem with his character design. Dude has some guns on him. He can throw a punch.

Make them both Illuminati members with “grayer” personalities. Have D.D. not care about the prophecy but enjoy testing people and fighting others. Make him a hunter for the Illuminati who has a perfected version of Necro’s voltage abilities naturally with Necro having been a prototype to copy it that basically failed. Set-up a rivalry where D.D. shows some humanity by throwing a fight to let Necro and Effie get away.

Have Rook be a cold-blooded guy. No sensitive bishie stuff. And not narcissistic either. Make him a previous Society candidate child that takes on a role of Illuminati executioner, murdering people to hide society secrets. Do a riff on the “Talons” from Batman’s Court of Owls…it even works with his “Rook” name. And ALSO works with his Rook name in that he’d be a defender of the Illuminati just like a rook on a chess-board. Dude’s so devoted to the cause that even if Urien definitively showed him proof that Rook is just being used and could be discarded at any moment he’d just be like “If that’s my role…that’s fine” and utterly baffle Urien with his non-religious devotion.

Give him a rivalry with the much more upbeat and energetic D.D. with Rook actually throwing out murderous threats and D.D. just playing it off. Make Rook a rival with Rashid. Rashid is a compassionate, nice, heroic guy…give him Rook as an asshole-ish, merciless villain. It would work beautifully.
