The Inevitable Street Fighter V Story Thread: ARCADE EDITION!

I’m guessing we got Evil Ryu yesterday just so he’d be next to Ryu. But otherwise, they’re going to be going through all the playable SF5 characters now.

Gonna settle in for nothing unexpected for the next couple weeks.

Except, we already got a Ken bio with the Masters family. Wtf?

Ken Masters

Protagonist Ryu’s eternal rival, Ken.
Here’s his family!
And here’s his command list!

Name: Ken
Height: 175cm
Weight: 83kg
Blood type: B
Birthday: February, 14
Home Country: USA
Favorite things: Family, Pasta
Dislikes: Umeboshi, Soap Operas
Fighting Style: Martial Art based on Ansatsuken

Once he obtained a family who supports him, he got stronger,
and while he sits at the top of the most powerful company of America, he’s a
sunny and gaudy fellow.
He has received an invitation from Karin Kanzuki,
and while he works to stop the Black Moons,
he exchanges with Ryu a promise to fight again once Ryu is done with his
special training to overcome the Satsui no Hadō.

I knew that wasn’t going to be his full bio, because he wasn’t wearing any of his normal costumes. Same with Laura.

first 11 days of dolls, now this
booooring

:frowning:

Well they have to do everyone eventually, so this had to happen.

I wonder if the fact that the playable cast’s bios are now being released means we will finally find out where Rashid (and to a certain extent Fang, for definite anyway) are actually from (currently both are listed as “???” under nationality on the JPN site)

Rashid is from Agrabah.

FANG is from Kung-FuHustlevania.

I’m sticking with UAE and China until proven otherwise.

Sounds about right to me (plus, Dubai features on Rashid’s artwork)

Wait, how did Nash fulfill his purpose? He didn’t even leave a scratch on Bison lol.

He arguably weakened him (even if the story did not convey this perfectly), so he was instrumental in his defeat. Bison’s defeat was Nash’s purpose, it would’ve been ideal for Gill if Nash was the one to actually defeat Bison of course, but that didn’t work out like he wanted.

I don’t understand that, what prophecy were talking Gill and Kolin? why it had to be Nash who defeated Bison? the Illuminati’s prophecy from Book Of Muraha 3.11 didn’t say anything about that.

It doesn’t, but we may not have the entire prophecy. We only have an excerpt. Kolin alludes to another part possibly. Or we can take it to mean that Gill was supposed to save the day, and Nash was basically acting on his behalf (since Nash was imbued with Gill’s power). Like a prophet/messenger would act on behalf of a God or something.

Whoops

I guess this can be argued for or against. The story conveys it like he didn’t weaken him a significant amount, that Ryu didn’t need any help defeating Bison.

I hope that in season 2 we get some story that takes places after 3rd strike, or maybe they’ll wait for SF 6 to do that.

Nash used a V-skill/Tragedy Assault-like maneuver on Bison. Earlier in the story we saw him use it on Abel. The effect is quite simple, it absorbs/drains power.

What Nash effectively did was attempt to absorb/drain Bison of his power, but it was so much that he literally exploded (Now you may understand why Bison needs to switch bodies, he’s THAT powerful).

We don’t know how much of Bison’s power Nash drained, but it wasn’t enough to even make a dent in Bison’s confidence (or make his hat fall off).

So yes as a matter of fact, Nash did drain Bison of his power thereby weakening him (otherwise he wouldn’t have exploded). But how much of an effect we don’t know, but it appeared to be negligible to Bison.

Shutting down of the Black Moons probably had a bigger impact on Bison’s power than what Nash did. (This may explain why we never got to see an ultra-overpowered version of Bison for the final boss, since that form was hindered from coming to be).

Bottomline, there is a very strong possibility/high probability that Ryu would not have been able to beat Bison without Rashid and Nash’s help even with his ‘special training’. Ryu’s ‘Special Training™’ wasn’t meant to train him to defeat Bison directly, rather it was meant to train him to tame the beast within. If he didn’t he would’ve been prone and subject to Bison’s will.

Hope we tomorrow we won’t see Violent Ken haha… I guest they continue with the SFV playable characters onwards…

They didn’t include the additional 3 new recruit dolls… from Fang’s drawings
