While I’m also livid at how Capcom treats Chun, I recall that she beat Viper, no?

I will say between the cinematic and Balrog’s stories, Ed’s stock has gone way up. He’s actually around Yun/Yang’s age it seems, Bengus just drew him really young-looking for some reason. Also, it is even discussed that he ages quickly due to being a clone, so I think he has a clear shot. Shadow Boxer Ed for Season 2!

Speaking of “Season 2”

Spoiler

I think Capcom could do another one either next year or after that. Since we’re adapting Ryu Final now, he could have an interesting journey. Alex’s potential is still a big mystery. Involving the main anti-Shadowloo guys requires a new world-threatening bad guy, but I’m sure Capcom can make something work. Keep Gill on the sidelines with only a few characters ever meeting him. If Gill fights, they can totally make him a model swap of Urien with crazy move properties.

I’m interested to see how they handle Nash/Bison/FANG. Nash is definitely grass, Bison has another trick up his sleeve, but I don’t think FANG is actually dead yet. His motto is “Be on the side that kills, not is killed”. I can’t picture him just sitting there while the base collapses. Even if he gets locked in, the dude is a human snake and could probably crawl out of the rubble. Now we have a crazy poison-guy who wants EVERYONE dead. In fact, being stalked by FANG would likely be Chun-Li’s plot for a future cinematic. Chun-Li and Li-Fen are at the top of his hit list for sure.

Balrog is an Illuminati thug now (he definitely plans to fuck over Urien sometime, I still can’t believe Urien called him a “troglodyte” lol), so him and Ed are still relevant. Vega just went off into the night, but will probably stalk/harass Cammy’s inevitable “Delta Blue” formed from the rescued Dolls. Urien is setting up for SF3, but he seems to be collecting as much Shadowloo/SIN data as possible. Juri is doing her own thing, but according to her leaked prologue with Viper intelligence agencies are letting her continue on because she’s doing more good than harm.

I don’t think the next bad guy is going to be Gill or Urien. Some new probably.

I’ve got to say;

Spoiler

Alex got fucking robbed, AGAIN. We’re finally meant to be closing the gap between SF4 and SF3, and the SF3 series’ main fucking character gets one fight before fucking walking away and never to be seen again after like an hour into the Cinematic Story Mode. Complete bullshit. Alex deserves much better. I implore anyone to find an SF character that was going to be pushed as a MAJOR character only to be dropped to basically a side character.

At least he won his fight. You have any idea how fucking frustrating it is having Chun constantly getting her ass kicked since SSF4?

Not to mention that she also only has 1 fight as well. Granted, this story was well done in regards to character interaction and development. But in regards to fights, and actions, she got short-ended this go-around.

I’m happy that at least my other favs (Rashid and Vega) were badasses.

I can’t see how anyone is enjoying this. I had a very bitter experience with story mode. If anyone cares to read my rant, here’s the short version:

[details=Spoiler]I was cringing the whole time. At the forced humor and horrendous textures in the non playable stage areas of it. Bison vs. 8 ps1 era graphic ninjas. WTF was that about? Just looking at them was embarrassing.
Characters walk from one continent to another in 5 seconds. Character development? Where? They tried so hard to make everything and everyone funny that it’s in your face the whole time. Fuck zangief, he just says MUSCLE MUSCLE MUSCLE over and over like a fucking idiot. When did that become funny or clever? Guile says like maybe 2 things to nash and thats it. Nash goes all ‘‘this is my final card’’ then explodes and nothing happens. We never even really get explicitly told anything about him at all. What does the gem actually really do. Why did he not fucking say anything to guile.

Rashid’s ‘‘friend’’ is the dumbest bullshit. The entire story revolves almost entirely about him and his fucking friend who in the end is dead and is no one of importance to us. Like, wow, way to get lazy with it. His whole story teased at his friend being some kind of important SF figure but its just some dead nerd.

Seriously fuck this story. I wish they would of spent that budget on like 4 or 5 pre rendered cool fight scenes instead of this stretched out turd. [/details]

[details=Spoiler]
I’m not that upset because since this is tying off Shadaloo and building SF3, I can easily see him being the star of Season 2. They’re clearly setting him up to be of great importance so this, while disappointing, is setting him up for bigger things. The game isn’t done yet and hopefully each season has a chunk of story and with it new character story bits to play.[/details]

Spoiler

if they do a season two, would it hurt to ask to give Alex, Urien, and even Chun-Li a little more fight time?

You’ll never be negative enough about that. I kinda made those subtitles as a joke, but this is a serious issue. [details=Spoiler]When Chun Li says “I’m sorry. I’ll never act like that again” she’s theoretically talking about not acting reckless, but the actual subtext is “I’m sorry. I’ll never fight Bison again. Next time I’ll ask Ryu to do it for me”[/details], and that’s TERRIBLE.

Also, I wouldn’t mind that much if Bison [details=Spoiler]was defeated by Juri, FrankenNash, Guile or other character with actual development and involvement, but they chose the worst option. When Capcom has Ryu beat Bison what they’re saying is “We don’t give a shit about the quality of the story. Ryu is our guy, we want him to be the hero, and all characters who actually deserved the victory and contributed to the story can go fuck themselves”.[/details]

Spoiler

Seriously you’re angry with Gief? You must be a very fun person.

To be honest;

Spoiler

One of my main gripes was there being not enough characters in this. Imagine if you had the number of characters USF4 had in the CSM and how awesome it would be. Having characters like Rose, Sakura, Cody, Dudley etc. involved in the story would have been amazing. That’s why when it comes to another CSM, I’d rather they didn’t do one with season 2 but with season 3 instead. Give it a season and a half before continuing the story and build up the roster instead. It’d be much better to 25+ characters to play as rather than just 16.

Okay, so Alex thinks Dhalsim is a mugger. I think this sheds some light into Alex’s character. Consider the following explanations as for why he would assume an elderly floating imaciated yoga master with an Indian accent was there to rob him:

  1. Alex is racist as fuck and assumes anyone with dark skin is a criminal.
  2. Alex is nearly blind.
  3. The SF version of New York is plagued by a vicious yoga street gang.
  4. Dhalsim’s decision to wear human skulls around his neck made Alex confuse him with a mass-murderer who needed some quick cash for sulphuric acid to dissolve his latest victim.
  5. Alex doesn’t know what a mugger actually is.

On how Bison was handled

Spoiler

Ryu defeating him is a mixed bag. I loved Ryu Final, so any nod to that is a step in the right direction for him. I just wish we got to see him training a bit so his victory would’ve felt more gratifying. Ken just ditches him, and later Ryu defeats Necalli at the Kanzuki Estate before going to the base. I wouldn’t say Chun-Li failed to make an impact, she just didn’t get the limelight. She does shut down the PSAs once with Karin, which I have to give her credit for. Saving Li-Fen from FANG was awesome and built up well. She didn’t really dent Bison himself, which I think was the point of her arc: You have to know your limits and take victories when they come. This is summed up in her prologue.

Guile and Nash got shafted hard though. Barely any interaction, Guile doesn’t do anything after Act 1 besides fly a helicopter, and Nash quickly turns into a punching bag after Act 1 too. Without a real explanation of what he does to Bison, his sacrifice looks kind of pointless. I also wish they let Laura and Ken do more; they didn’t even get to fight the dolls for Gill’s sake! Also would have liked more Alex and Necalli to have actually done something.

[details=Spoiler]Biggest shafts by far were:

Necalli
Alex
Nash
Chun-Li
Guile
Laura
R.Mika
Ibuki[/details]

Nash / Abel / Guile - reconciliation that they have been bigging up for 2 decades never happened at all. They didnt have one meaningful conversation with each other. Nash is just a mute now. It was pretty much the biggest story selling point of this game for me pre release. Nash is back!!

Necalli - no background or introduction. Im sure the previous cutscenes/win comments had suggested he was with Bison.

Most characters did very little. Alex notably. Abel and Decapre had bigger parts than a lot of the cast of the game.

Ken was disappointingly missing from the story. They nodded to a Paul Walker family responsibility bow out, but it didnt really happen.

Rashid - he is the only character that got development, and was a major part of the story

Laura - no wonder she sounds so dopey, she is

Zangief - I liked his jokes

Tbh that’s how should be, anything but Ryu being the one to defeat Bison will make Bison a beatable can instead the ultimate SF devil

Beated by Guile?
Beated by Chun?

Pls

If must lose an 1v1 Bison deserved way better than them

Only way i will have accepted Chun or Guile was if they jumped him all together (Nash, Guile, Chun and Cammy)

Finished. Not bad Capcom, not bad at all.

My man Vega didnt lose a fight either. Bonus.

Of course he’s deserving, they’ve been building the moment up since Champion Edition box art.
