Yeah it’s interesting. In the old thread some of us were noticing that and wondering if she’s grown up and truly does get fascinated, but is still obsessed with being the best, so she may initially come off arrogant, but means well. Personally I’d love it if this is the new her. She’s not a kid anymore and if she’s really playing a role in the story (her family has previously been on Shadaloo’s notice) then it’d be great if she was functioning as an adult and not a oju brat heh.
It’s funny because you could begin to see this transition in Karin’s Alpha 3 story. After fighting Sakura, she gained a newfound respect for her and considered her the better of the two. Her motivation to get better was still there, but she was less vain about it. I don’t know if the actual battle is considered canon, but I thought that was a nice touch.
Karin’s the type of chick to bust into your house through the second story window to issue your ass a challenge!
But don’t worry about the damages, she’ll personally pay for someone to come fix it tomorrow.
Some other cool stuff from the SFV Visionary Book. Apparently were getting a backstory manga featuring Karin and Birdie, which I bet will be hilarious. There’s some sort of chart with F.A.N.G listed on top and each of the dolls in their monthly name order. I’m guessing that the dolls will somehow be involved F.A.N.G for whatever reason. Alongside of it seems to be some sort of relation chart for the different characters like the one in SF4. The images on the bottom seem to be more concept art. Again, it seems designers were maybe going to shoot for the characters showing battle damage, as evidence of the battle scarred Chun’s at the very bottom.
Yea, I think if we were going to get that artbook there would be some type of bonus pre order bundle special edition crap that some retailer would have put together already… We ain’t gettin it, but I look forward to the scans/translations.
So I just came here to say that the latest pages made me die of laughter due to how crazy shit went down in here, lol.
Now a somewhat serious question, what are the odds of us getting an animated feature for SF5? Something in the lines of those 2 OVAs we got for SF4 and SSF4.
Also I remember the last time I posted here it was something regarding a screenshot of Rashid in the main menu of the game which looked like a cutscene… the background looks very close to the Shadaloo airport stage but at night. Makes sense since he’s looking for his friend who was apparently kidnapped by Shadaloo or something like that.
I wonder who’s that character below the Ryu vs Ken picture? The crazy hair makes me think of Necalli but I dunno.
Can’t say for sure, it might be an early Necalli draft, with an early Rashid draft right below that one, going by the desert robes and eye scouter.
I know diagonally to the bottom right of the presumed Necalli is a concept for “White Birdie”, which we might be seeing. Below that is what I guess could be an early Laura rough draft, going by the yellow coat and green shorts.
I also forgot to mention, at the top of the second image are the full line up of Lady Wrestlers R.Mika and Nedeshiko are apart of.
That happen to also be featured in this artwork.
They all might have a part to play in her story mode, or also serve as background characters for her stage.
Also, Ken doesn’t look too happy about that Boston Crab R.Mika has him in, must be a massive pressure on his lower back.
I think we are for sure getting animated features. They are not going to take a step back from SF4, I think Ono is aware of how much people care about the lore, after ressurection expect more animated stuff.
Since we were talking about Cammy’s tier a lot earlier, I am curious if there has been an inkling on what her daily training regiment is like. Apart from martial arts training, she probably has to throw in weapons training and spec-ops manoeuvres in there too right?
Those things are rather obscure. Apparently, Chun won 6th in a shooting competition, but I learned that from DeathBattle, not any SF media. Cammy was shown using a sniper in one of the comics, I think.
Cammy has Shadaloo training in special forces tactics, as well as MI6. Like Chun, Cammy too has an obscure special skill which happens to be knife throwing. But being as she’s special forces, she’s trained in a multitude of weapons and forms of combat, even if she may not remember where she attained the skills originally.
There’s a Cammy manga that’s written and illustrated by the same guy who does Ryu Final. Even though his works are non canon, I always felt that Nakahira did an awesome job at visually portraying how strong the World Warriors could be. From someone like Akuma, to Sakura, or someone like Gen to Sagat; who’s power to cut through swaths of forests originates from him. Along with other things; like main characters, side characters and even stage locations!
Ryu Final.
as seen in the canon C.Viper SF2 aftermath trailer.
The manga portrays Cammy as very clever, with enough intuition to put a stop to terrorists who had infiltrated MI6. She spars with Col. Wolfman on the regular, and she holds a variety skills that allow her to infiltrate, and escape a variety of facilities, including submerged submarines. She is skilled with the use of firearms, as well as disarming people with them, but her special skills lie with throwing knifes. She’s experienced to the point where a fellow experienced knife wielder can chuck one at her, and she’ll proceed to catch it unfazed. She also has skills with ballistic knifes as well, being able to put a stop to Vega by pegging him in the foot. Although credit to Vega he manages to escape the who ordeal unfazed yet unsuccessful.
Also, her Spin Knuckle was shown to be pretty devastating, in that it can split a tree on impact, as does the Cannon Spike.
All around, it doesn’t seem like too much of a stretch to say that Cammy is pretty damn strong, and Nakahira does her justice.
In canon, Cammy is able to dodge Decapre’s vicious assault with daggers, which I think is because of Cammy’s special skill. She would know how to counter dodge blows from a knife, being that she’s a knife wielding expert herself.
I’m not sure if that’s ever specified, the only two that hold ranking are Col. Wolfman, and Lt. Col. Luwanda. I’m not sure if the other two hold any rank either, just that the little guy is a computers experts, and the big guy has some sort of cybernetic eye implant. I don’t know what the blob thing is either, but it’s featured in the manga too. Maybe we will get some details on Delta Red in SFV, since they seem to be featuring backstory characters for story mode, like Gouken, the Lady Wrestlers, and the Dolls.
Which characters you guys think will appear in story mode as NPCs? Gouken and the dolls are obvious. When Ibuki rolls around it would be awesome to see Makoto and canonize their rivalry from the UDON comics. I expect for Balrog to show even though he won’t be playable yet.
Sean should be a given because of Laura. Maybe Chun Li could get info from Gen on F.A.N.G. Since he’s linked to the Chinese underworld he may have some info on him.
When Urien is released, will he have any interactions with Gill?
