The Inevitable Street Fighter V Story Thread: ARCADE EDITION!

Holy crap…I love her. She is awesome.

I know that’s what it is. I’m saying it SHOULDN’T be that. Street Fighter shouldn’t have a bunch of different wrestling organizations.

But why not? Real world doesn’t have issues with having different organizations in different parts of the world, hell the USA had two companies running at the same time since forever - WCW and WWF in the Attitude Era and WWE vs TNA in the PG Era (Although nowadays they aren’t really opposing factions unlike what WCW and WWF were to each other, but still)

More condensed Street Fighter "lore"

I know it’s pretty much hardwired into people’s skulls that Nash dies in Alpha 3, but doesn’t anyone besides hardcore lore fans get that the whole point of Nash’s revival is that it’s based around his Alpha 2 death and not his Alpha 3 one. Capcom literally can’t spell it out any more than they already have in Nash’s story mode and the SFV movie intro.

Maybe people just don’t realise that Alpha 3 ending is not canon, despite it not being mentioned ever since SFIV? I dunno how else one can explain the fact that these “SF lore in a nutshell” videos keep mentioning it. Or maybe it’s for the posterity sake? But then again why not put a disclaimer which ending is canon or not…

Also @bakfromon I am honored to be forever mentioned in your signature lol

Because then there’s no excuse for them to be wrestling against each other.

Like, Mika hanging out with Zangief doesn’t even make sense now since they aren’t even in the same association.

Having a single monolithic organization means all the wrestlers are wrestling each other all the time! It gives all of those characters automatic plot reasons to fight each other in the story.

And, it means if you ever DO get that Slam Masters 3 game, none of these IGPW characters would be in it.

I don’t think a single event from Alpha 3 was referenced in SF4. Sure you have the base explosion, but that wasn’t a direct Alpha 3 ending it’s just based off of them. The only Alpha 3 ending that’s ever been directly referenced as happening is part of Mika’s ending where she’s saved by Gief, which hasn’t been mentioned til her story mode in SFV.

I really can’t say what the status of Alpha 3 as a whole is, but Nash’s part in it was indefinitely retconned. So far even with a story mode which lays out Nash’s death as plain as day and it still goes over everyone’s heads and we have people making videos attempting mental gymnastics trying to piece together SF story with retconned material.

Oh and no doubt I had to keep that quote in my sig it still has me laughing every time I see it.

I like the diversity of the wrestling organizations. Also, it’s like Fatal says how many wrestling organizations there are in the real world and how many wrestlers switch between each promotion. Take one of my hometown favorites Kurt Angle. The guy’s been on the oldschool WCW, WWE, TNA, and now he’s in a indie league, among a variety of others. All the wrestlers are familiar with one another because they cross over between leagues and very few of them are actually contracted to just one association for very long, and if they are they’re usually the main eventers (like the Cena’s and HHH’s).

Mika knowing Zangief would make sense because technically Gief had been thrown out of his league for being too strong and went underground so he’s not officially a part of CWA.

Again, I’m fully aware of these things, I just disagree with Capcom’s decision to write them that way in the first place.

The important thing to remember is that, unlike in the real world, professional wrestling in the Street Fighter world isn’t scripted. It’s real fighting. Wrestling organizations are as compartmentalized as they are in the real world because they’re fake. Each serving different regions and audiences.

Contrast that to any real world fighting sport, like with professional boxing or MMA, there’s always a single global organization that is the only one people actually care about. Yes, there are still lesser or regional organizations, but the goal of those in those organizations is to eventually progress to the world league.

The same should be the case with wrestling in the Street Fighter world. Since it’s not fake in Street Fighter, there should be one global league that all of the worlds strongest compete in and all the rest are striving to reach.

And any SF character that’s not strong enough to already be IN that organization shouldn’t be a SF character in the first place. Because SF characters should be the most powerful practitioners of their fighting styles in the world.

Damn, I’ve missed a lot. Glad you’re going to be maintaining the guide, bak. I feel like it’ll be better that way since you usually have to revise certain translations and stuff. Things will just move a lot quicker that way. I’ll get the remaining SF4/SF5 (Alpha 3 Yun, Maki, Ingrid) stories out the way as well. There shouldn’t be many left. After that, I’ll just continue to maintain a guide feeding off of yours. Great work as usual!

I’ll definitely make a SMB3 album. No problem.

Definitely, especially with all the new info coming out daily now I thought this would make it more efficient. There’s actually some more stuff besides the guides and SFV site stuff. I remembered there had been Japanese character prologues for SF4. I’ve decided to search for some of the archived pages for them, but there are quite a few if I do recall. Anyways we should have those included just so we can somewhat cover a plot basis for SF4.

I know that Vasili translated them a while back, but I figured that I’d at least try to find the pages to copy the info from them.

Edit: nvm found all of them

Darth, I have several explanations for your concerns:
-Mika hangs out with Zangief because she’s a huge fan of him, not for any official purposes
-Black Widow was in Slam Masters; any of these wrestlers could be moved to the CWA (if they use it) for a new game
-Mika is probably the “star” of her league. Fuerte is apparently a huge fan of her (is that UDON only or canon?), and she’s the one training under Yoko and now Zangief. She’s probably is an in-between stage where she wants to reach her idol’s status and break into the big leagues but hasn’t quite reached it yet.
-In the cinematic trailer, there are CWA flags in the background of the ring area; there is nothing barring her from wrestling with them it seems.
-In response to the above, IJWPW is probably a group of friends/students that train together, not an exclusive league.
-For your professional sports analogy, CWA is the “real” organization, and IJWPW is one of the lesser groups.
-Plot reasons for wrestlers to fight? Have you even seen Laura’s story? When does that matter?

035: Pepe Ishiwata

New concepts stages are up as well
game.capcom.com/cfn/sfv/column-112560.html

Apparently they had scrapped a stage based off the 2016 Olympic games in Rio because it didn’t fit the era of the game
Something interesting to consider about the time period of SF when taking a sliding timeline into account .

(The painted masked wrestler who fights to hide her identity. I think it’s a bit romantic! Knowing who she is would be rude.)

Name: Pepe Ishiwata
Height: 155cm
Weight: 61kg
Blood type: A
Birthday: March 3
Home Country: Japan
Favorite things: Grandma, mystery novels
Dislikes: Wasabi

Born in Hawaii and raised by her grandmother she currently resides in Japan. Despite her appearance, she is a wrestler who’s based on finesse with a very high skill level in technique. She surrounds herself in makeup to keep her identity a secret. Her special move is the Shock Cone DropKick. What a powerful back tossing buffet.

The time of discussing Iwashigahama Women’s Pro Wrestling has come to an end. Professional wrestling is really interesting. If you have the time you should go see them during their live performances.♪

Was’nt that good anyway, current Brazil stage best Brazil stage

The true shame is Venice stage not happening (for now)

Btw of the new ones, Australia look fun

Giant boomerangs, kangaroos and a crocodile. All in one stage.

5’2" 134lbs

True, I’m just pointing out that maybe the developers still have a mindset that SF still takes place in the past. To not put something in that references a recent event because “it doesn’t fit the era” seems like they mean to have SF take place in a past rather than on a sliding timeline.

Pep loves her gram and mystery novels …I LOVE her

Bak thanks for keeping up with the translating duties, you rock man. The fact that you’re willing to compare translations with Lord Vega and others is a great sign of progress for all of this lore-handling. The future is gonna be bright and accurate lol

I would have loved the Venice and Aussie stages. I’m hoping that now we’re in the market for dlc stages we see updated classics (i.e. Guile’s stage) and some brand new concepts to fill things in. I hope that storymode isn’t just limited to the current stages since it kind of runs dry after a bit for me. June is a big deal so I’m hoping for their A-game.

At this point i hope they were made for future newcomers

Vulcano Rosso Male italian Rose’s disciple and female australian crocodile dundee hot girl with boomerang v-skill pls
