Wrong, prove Capcom affirms what you are stating?
Not to mention you pick a SF4 aftermath trailer, events that happen after SF4 tournament. The in game plot guide states what happened before the SF4 tournament and builds on from it.
Sigh, I’ll leave this here…
*"Basically the points from Capcom Japan concerning Gouki defeating Vega at the end of SF2 that started in Super Street Fighter 2 X and continued through the release of Third Strike have not in any way been challenged or cancelled with anything from the SF4 series. This is a crude outline of the points made public:
**SSF2X 1994- Gouki makes his debut in the gameplay with taking out Vega but not consistently killing him.
SFZ3 1998- In Adon’s ending we’re shown Vega taken out and massacred by Gouki from behind.
SF3 3S 1999- A new character relations chart is released in Gamest issue #255 indicating that by the end of SF2 Gouki annihilates Vega, who becomes a flaming powder by the time Ryu reaches the end of the tournament.
All About Capcom Fighting Games 1987-2000- This massive sourcebook is published and discloses that the way Vega is axed at the end of SF2 is the way portrayed in Adon’s Z3 ending.**
SF4 2008/2009- Gouki’s win quote to Vega indicates that all it took for Gouki to stop Vega’s scheme for capturing and using Ryu at the end of SF2 was just to know that Gouki’s plans for Ryu and Vega’s plans for him would conflict. Vega’s win quote to Gouki on the other hand takes a look at Vega purposely getting his SF2 body caught and massacred in order to later intimately utilize Gouki’s satsui no hadou, which is what BLECE does later on. So that he himself won’t be annihilated, Vega soul-jumps into one of numerous spare Seth bodies until his SF4 body is mostly ready.
The fact that Vega survives SF2 by the same soul-jumping method that he used at the end of the Zero series was confirmed by Ono-san via interview shortly after Vega was revealed as playable in SF4. Since that’s the case, Vega would’ve had to be pressured to soul-jump and abandon his SF2 body, which is what Gouki still has currently done- unexpectedly crash the end of the SF2 tournament. Thus SF4 info builds on what’s been previously stated and confirmed from Capcom Japan and the earlier Street Fighter games".*
You know what… I’ll quote Vasili as well, but not on the basis of using him as proof, but for comparisons.
I noticed he had made a post a long time ago concerning the AASFZ3 book, so I thought I would compare some of my translations to his. Let’s just start simple with the fashion and fighting styles of Ryu and Ken.
Ryu
My translation
Ken
My tanslation
Granted both of ours are probably wrong in many senses, but just comparing the two you can see obvious parallels. Although, just compare the legibility and you’ll find that reading a Vasili translation is almost like reading a riddle.
Vasili? Man we don’t mention that name much. We were doing just fine on our own. Anyway Bakfromon, I’ll take your absolute worst translation over Vasili’s best 10 days out of the week (BTW, keep up the good work). He dragged Warrior’s Fate into despair and lots of us had no idea. Things could’ve been different if 1) his translations made actual sense 2) he wasn’t a jerk to so many people and 3) didn’t try to make his conjecture canon. But yeah, I like this new friendlier community spot we’re in. Now, back to lurk mode…
The Life and Death(s) of Charlie Nash was such a great read. That short little story had everything.
I really hope Nash’s revival is pretty similar to what was told there.
I guess the only difference would be:
Spoiler
Nash is revived because the Psycho Power used in his brainwashing preserved his mind, giving the Secret Society a chance to bring him back with their technology. Since he never became Agent Shadow in the main games, his source of power will have to be something else. Most likely a power from the Secret Society.
I explained this in my previous post. It’s not my fault that you only quote one small passage from it and ignore the rest. I will not repeat everything.
This statement is already false since those trailers show what happens after SF2, not SF4.
And I already explained in length why it is unlikely that the aftermath of SF2 from the trailer is supposed to play after a scene where Bison was actually attacked by Akuma and where the SF2 game endings happened.
The plot guide is a fan project and Vasili is an idiot.
“His name in the actual canon still isn’t Charlie Nash, though.”
Yes, it is. It has been confirmed in one of Guile’s anime cutscenes in SF4 where they show Charlie’s dog tags that show the complete name. Vasili claimed this is a non-canon “easter egg”, but that’s bullshit: The SF5 trailer (not the cinematic one, the first one) showed the dog tags as well. And in Bison’s story mode, C. Viper says Charlie’s full name, even in Japanese. So, Vasili is wrong and has been wrong.
Shall I link you these three sources (Guile’s cutscene, SF5 trailer and Bison SF5 story mode), including the exact second where it appears on the screen or do you remember that stuff yourself?
Another example:
“Nash- Doesn’t die until SFZ3”
In SF5, it is undeniable that Charlie “died” like in his SFA2 ending, not like in his SFA3 ending. But this isn’t anything new. SF4 already alluded to this fact with Charlie being shown in Guile’s cutscenes falling down or being shown after he was shot in the back. So, the SFA3 Charlie dying in an explosion ending was already retconned by the time of SF4.
In fact, people on this very forum concluded that Charlie’s SFA2 ending is the new canon version of his supposed death month before SF5 came out. But Vasili still went by Guile’s SFA3 ending, despite his latest plot guide version including all SF4 versions up to USF4.
Also, he claimed that Gouken isn’t really alive, based on…nothing in particular. And again, he got his ass kicked by Ryu’s SF5 story mode.
So, don’t ever cite me the plot guide of the idiotic person who also has been exposed as a liar who tries to include his personal fan fiction into the “Street Fighter” canon instead of representing the sources faithfully.
If you want to prove anything, show me the actual sources that Vasili claims to refer to. For example, if Ono confirmed something in an interview, show me a video or a magazine article or a website article of a magazine with Ono’s interview and we’ll talk. Don’t show me a text by Vasili saying “Ono said this and that.”
Next, I figure I’d jump around and do Chun’s then Geif to finish up the SF2/SFEX bio crossover I’m doing. Then move on to the other characters like Sim and Blanka and others, I’ll probably add their EX2 and EX2 plus entries from AAC along with them…
@“Doctrine Dark” if you could compile one more album with just the canon characters that appear in SFEX series. I know I’ve already done a few for Vega and M. Bison, but if you could just make an album and leave them all in one spot that would be great.
