I know Laura’s English VA said she was given specific direction on how to say her lines. She seemed to imply that she wanted to go in a different direction.

I’ve talked with him and worked with him before, he’s a pretty cool guy, so he let me help him out with the vid!

On the topic of voices, I’ve been thinking about G’s voice but also Falke. I’m really curious what we can expect from them aesthetically. I want something new with Falke’s personality, but I don’t know what I want. I’m still unsure if we can expect Neo Shadaloo to be neutral or bad guys, but her being a laid back, “just doing my job, man”, type of character with a matching voice could be nice. Not sure, what do you guys think we could get with the next character on the line up?

JPN’s cast has been consistently good since pretty much forever, but the English cast has seen MASSIVE improvements from IV and xTekken. I couldn’t stand the voicework from like half of the cast in those games, especially from the likes of Yun and Akuma

I can’t give a fair opinion with the japanese VAs (only because all of the voice settings on my game are Eng dubbed), but I do believe they do a great job with the voice-overs.

With that said, I do believe that some of the enlgish voice actors do a great job as well. Here are a run down of my favorites.

Laura Bailey/Chun-Li: I’m not saying this as a biased Chun-Li fan. but Laura Bailey is one of my favorite voice actors of all time. Her range is incredible. And when I first heard her voice Chun-Li in SFIV, I fell in love. She provides Chun-Li with a fierce, strong, independent voice. At the same time, her soft, and cheery tones gives Chun-Li that sweet, playful nature that we know and love. She nearly disappointed me with the SFV beta, but when the ASF story came out, Laura Bailey redeemed herself with a solid performance as Chun-Li. She sounded more fierce and emphatic in SFIV, than in SFV, but as time passed for Chun-Li in the game, she has matured. And so has her voice, having afirm and confident voice, while having that soft, motherly vibe that she starts to adopt in the game. From playing and listening to her voice when she attacks her opponent in SFIV, MVC, SFxT, and now SFV, to listening to her voice in the story modes, Laura Bailey is hands down my favorite SF english VA, and my favorite Chun-Li VA to date.
Lauren Landa/Karin Kanzuki: I love how she voices Karin in SFV. She has this royal, high class tone to her voice, but it sounds very mature, as Karin has from Alpha to SFV. I believe Landa did karin justice in her first ever English vocal portrayal. She gives her character a voice of confidence and class.
Michelle Ruff/ C-Viper: Michelle Ruff doesn’t crack my top 5 favorite voice actors, but she’s in my top 10. I love the air of confidence she gives C. Viper. Viper’s voice is a mixture of seriousness, confident, with a dash of motherly love that’s not too cooing or coddling. If C-Viper makes it to SFV as a playable, I would love to hear her voice again.
Travis Willingham/Guile: (Married to Laura Bailey: Fun Fact). Willingham gives guile that hardened, gruff soldier tone, yet sounding very distinctly badass. I enjoy Willingham’s deep voice, and I think he was a good choice for Guile.
Ericka Lindbeck/Menat: Out of all the new SFV characters, Menat is my favorite. And a part of that has to do with Lindbeck’s portrayal of her. She gives her young sweet, young voice about her that makes me adore her character. I love how she naive she sounds, given the fact that she’s Rose’s apprentice, and that it’s part of her personality.

Honorable Mentions

Jessica Straus/ Juri: She does a great Juri, although i do enjoy her portrayal of Juri in SFIV more than SFV. Still, that sadistic inflection she gives Juri sends chills down my spine everytime, especially when it’s to my wifey Chun-Li
Bill Rogers/Urien: Tyrant, cocky, intimidating. He gives the grandest portrayal for Urien. I only wished he was in the SFV story more. His part was awesome, despite only being in a few scenes.

-** Megan Taylor Harvey/Li-Fen**: Li-Fen shined in her role in ASF. She just sounds so cute, innocent, and at times, helpless. I enjoyed listening to her character when she was in danger, but I also loved her interactions with Rashid and Chun-Li. Li-Fen’s character pulled my heart out of my chest with her adorableness, and a large part has to do with her voice actor. Only reason why she’s an honorable mention is because she’s not playable, and I don’t get to hear her often.
