The Inevitable Street Fighter V Story Thread: ARCADE EDITION!

I really dug Rashid, I’m thinking that he may have a reduced role going forward, but may become a swashbuckling, hero of sorts. With his charm and having saved the world (and getting a Viewtiful Joe costume to boot!) I think he’ll try and help the hero team going forward or may try and honour his friend by meeting other people and helping when he can.

I really have been having fun with Abigial and would love to see him pop up, with his personality (being a big guy who, isn’t dumb as a brick, just weirdly obsessed with his love of cars and at times has a rather chill attitude), moves and extra animations he made a positive impression on me. Even if it’s just in the background I’d love to see the big lug stick around. SF5 has really impressed me with the new folks and I don’t really want any of them to be forgotten, Necalli could get better treatment and change my mind, but so far, I’m not in a rush to ever see him again.

@RAW_Guts

Are they inappropriate for the current SF timeline? I’m not saying they are the best visual design but they are fitting and natural to represent where the current era is.

Personally i like Battle Alt (wich in my copy is standard) as a whole, the no pants is much more original as line, got already the shotos and Makoto for gi pants + jap belt
I like these shorts as essentially end up being

mma tight shorts + dem brazilian beach volley ass

Work well for the char =)

Also as said diversify the classic gi line, same way Abel’s Sambo uniform did

PS: i’m the only that used Battle Settings to set as default the best color/costume for every char? You can set even by default VT1 or VT2 preference

Mmmm…Elena.

Elena #MeToo

@Daemos The moment Elena even utters the word “Jambo”, she shall psycho crushed to the ground and thrown to the psycho drive.

Rashid and F.A.N.G being the real main protagonist and antagonist of SFV story was simultaneously the thing I liked the most and the biggest problem with ASF. The thing I liked the most because Rashid and F.A.N.G were both positively awesome and the best characters in that story, the biggest problem because Rashid and F.A.N.G being the best part further highlights how the actual main cast got shafted.
There aren’t really any reason for Rashid to stick around, but I’m sure that some excuse can be come up with to keep a good character relevant, he can tag along with the other heroes.

Frankly I think all characters in the Street Fighter series have enough of a reason to show up again one day, even the arguably lamer ones. A game that somehow managed to have all the characters from the history of the series would be great to me, but those kinds of project usually sacrifice quality for the sake of quantity.

I love Abigail, but I’m not counting on him ever returning post-SFV.

@Phantom_Miria Rashid also arguably ruined some scenes with his “humour”, we had a reunion with Nash and Guile+Chun-Li that the plot was getting ready for and Rashid is there just ruining everything with his little stand up. It would be better to have Cammy battle Rashid over the chess piece while Chun-Li and Guile deal with Nash. Rashid didn’t even have to make jokes, he could’ve been observing what’s going on in the background and Cammy notices him while the other two talk to Nash.

Rashid was handled fairly well and FANG proved to be a competent and iconic villain. I do think that these two will most likely return. I just hope that they don’t flanderise him into a meme machine. What I think will be next for Rashid: He’ll most likely be joining with Chun-Li/Alex/Necro in the battle against the Illuminati in a post SF4 era. But for now, I think he’ll take the sideline while Ed and Menat become the main characters of the next part of SFV.

The problem with Abigail is his stance and posture for visual and usability standpoint …

Juggernaut in XVS and Abubu in Rage of Dragon should have been a reference for his neutral standing stance

Nah, people don’t like how extreme looking his everything is, from his ridiculous proportions to his over-the-top absurd personality, even though without it Abigail would just be some boring looking thug that sometimes gets red.

I see the problem was the need to change the screen size weird collision boxes from both standing and jumping. I agree that Hugo is always better from the way he animates.

Who are these “people”? Not that it matters, because everything about Abigail is awesome. He’s classic, over-the-top Capcom, and very much fitting in SF character design. If this guy had been in SF2 no one would have batted an eye.

If anything, people dislike fighting against Abigail, cause GOD he’s a bastard to fight now. But otherwise, Abigail is hype. :stuck_out_tongue:

It’s a shame that the Abigail hate means he probably won’t come back in the future, because when compared to Hugo, good god, Abigail is so much more fun to play as.

I’m just repeating the arguments I hear from the people that complain about him online, which ultimately boil down to “he’s ugly and stupid”.
Frankly screw them because I completely agree with you. I may hate the way they’ve balanced him in Season 3 but I really like Abigail as a character.

(All this Abigail love makes me happy) :lovin:

The thing I love about Abigail is that he’s not the typical dumb guy, even though his whole thing in FF was the Angry Rush, some of his win quotes make him out to be kinda chill and observant. He’s not the typical “duh, I smash, I bash!” He’s got his eccentricities and he’s no genius, but he’s “plugged into the conversation”. He’s like Satsuwhatchamacallit? Keep on yelling ginger man, didn’t mean jack in the end!" rather than “Duh, I crushed the scary monster, me do good!” or something uninspired. He’s kinda got some shade in the tank.

To be fair, Abigail is the first time a giant character wasn’t ass in SF. RIP Hugo.

@Phantom_Miria The way Abigail was implemented might not have been perfect neither is his story mode but he’s got the other boxes ticked. I think they should give him a chance and develop him some more. Abigail has some untapped potential. I just like him but I think he’ll throw into the same predicament as the SF4 characters and honestly Abigail doesn’t deserve that.

Abigail is a big part of the FF mythos though, as one of the original bosses. As long as the original cast is relevant, Abigail will have a chance. At worst, he’ll be like Sodom where he misses out a few games but remains relevant from the background.

Bison will try, but happiness emanating from her will nullify is Psycho Power. In his surprise, he’ll be caught of guard and slain. No Ginyu time for someone that tries to touch our Kenyan waifu. Not even Gouki could resist it.
