The Inevitable Street Fighter V Story Thread: ARCADE EDITION!

@DarthEnder Thanks for shedding some light. Capcom confirmed that Alpha 1 was a rushed which explains the lack of individual stages and not much going on. 2I built on NG with a better soundfont, more characters, Akuma and everyone had their own stage. TBH 2I had better stages and music than 3S.

@ES_Curse No, Cammy was her own person whenever she was born not expelled from Bison’s psycho power. The Capcom character that is closest to a afterbirth would be Lillth.

What? No, Lilith was a part of Morrigan sealed off by Belial. Kind of like the “Rose/Bison share a soul” theory that was going around for a while.

@ES_Curse By Lillth I meant when Jedah gave a corporeal form. Lillth is just a mass of energy that shapeshifted thanks to Jedah.

As for SFA1 and SFA2 - I do believe both had different intentions by story progressions and game mechanics.

Chain combos were inspired from DarkStalkers and it was intentionally implemented made but later replace by custom combos because of feedback and community combo preferences.

it’s likely an update that suites the taste of the current audience rather than the definitive version of the earlier, because it went through major overhaul from stages and Ui.

But still A2 have 2 versions the other is A2 gold

As for NG?

I see 2ndi it like an 2nd edition with fix from initial release, it’s more like A2 gold for 2ndi and NG for A2 vanila, Since it’s output is comparable to how Capcom handled MVSF or A2 rather than Z2 to Z1.

As for rushed yes, in some areas. but not rushed in terms Character Design standpoint. Since there were numerous character design that never made up it’s like SFV that has also had alot of proto characters compared to SF4 and SFZ.

We can come up of numerous scrapped characters from SFV and SF3 compared to SF4 and SFZ.

So it doesn’t justify anything with Sean to be a rushed version of Ken and Ryu but he will always be a Ryu and Ken inspired design as intended.

@Cestus The entire events of A1 has been retconned so from a character+story standpoint, A2 would be the first to play. Gameplay wise A1 is SSF2T but with 2 extra bars. A2Gold fixed character balance, had Cammy and arranged music tracks so A2Gold is the one to start with.

What said about the custom combo is exactly why the DS characters should’ve been CVS2. Several of them like Talbain or Felicia have “dark force” similar to A-groove.

NG was rushed in all areas except for characters, Yun is missing frames, Necro doesn’t have Effie, Elena+Oro don’t even have a victory animation. The soundfont of NG is very low-fi which ruined a lot of the good songs. With 2I, they had a established tone, character frames filled in and the impartial OST now has a coherent soundfont and style with Jazz/Hip-Hop/Raï (Urien’s 2I theme and the continue theme is raï).

We are aware of what A1 is to A2

Your talking about implementation standpoint not conceptualization standpoint. Those were different areas of development and creativity.

Yes rushed but not in character design because they went through numerous concepts before implementations.

NG = 2nd Impact is A2 = A2 Gold or Super to ST in comparison, but not NG = 2nd Impact is A1 = A2

I’m a bit late to the party with this one, but because no one plays this team and everyone skips through intros…I had no idea these two talked to each other THIS much in this game.

Sakura gonna be shoving a golfball in the exhaust pipe of Chun’s patrol car if she keeps this up…

@Psychoblue They are the only SF characters so it’d make sense they talk that much. One I never got was Morrigan’s friendliness with Jedah. If Jedah manipulated a third of my energy to fuse with me to feed to his ultimate lifeform, I’d be pretty mad.

Just be lucky we didn’t get X+Zero in a gay relationship with Marvel’s SJW tendencies.

@The_Shakunetsu NG is a irrelevant game. The characters were not properly developed. It’s that they went through many conception phases but the way the characters were implemented in NG is not that good. 2I fleshed them out more.

For Morrigan/Jedah, their relationship seems tenuous in the story mode so my guess is something between them occurred either prior to Jedah being sealed away by Belial, or in the aftermath of Darkstalkers 3 after the Fetus of God was destroyed, Jedah appealed to Morrigan and she let him go free, maybe due to Option 1 of them being close before whatever Jedah did for Belial to seal him away happened.

@Psychoblue Ozom (the guy who appeared Raptor’s original ending in NW) was the one who tricked Jedah into absorbing the energy in Makai’s gate not Belial. You’re confusing the sealing with Lillth. Canonically, Morrigan (fused with Lillth) beat Jedah which resulted with him having soul eaten by his own Soul Bee’s and Raptor tries to get the leaking energy. Unless the paragraph that Jedah will return from the PSX/Saturn version than Morrigan and most of the characters would be against him.

About dudley… theres no way dat niggas a nigga. Ive always interpreted him as Indian.

In most of the official artwork he has more indian features. Kinus art is probably an exception.

Look at the picture from a sf3 flyer where he had a championship belt on. Blatantly south asian. Plus dude loves tea… I see the link as part of the old British Raj and the Tea industry that Britian built on indian land.

Plus look at the pic of duds dad in his 3s ending, looks more indian than black.

edit: Plus look at the hair mang! no way black dude gon have hair dat fyne.

Jedah had issues with Belial, as did Demitri. Ozom basically sold him out to Belial in exchange for the Dohma kingdom after Jedah was dispatched.

As for Jedah having his soul absorbed by Q-Bee and Raptor trying to gain the power, both of those endings struck me as non-canon. But at any rate, this is what Jedah is doing in MVCI so I figure after Morrigan (w Lilith) defeated Jedah, Jedah was spared as Morrigan is typically a lot more benevolent than the other Makai nobles.

I remember reading that Belial disagreed with Jedah’s viewpoint on Makai but had no bother with him. I don’t think there’s a official source where it Demitri bothered about Jedah but rather he had his mind set on Baraba Kreutz (Talbain’s father, also exiled after he had a relationship with a human woman.)

If Morrigan truly had a new sense of purpose from Lillth then she’d carry out Belial’s protection of Makai rather than destruction. Of course, Morrigan can always do what Belial did to Demitri. Given Jedah’s ending it seems that Anita will be the one to unify Makai and the humans ending most animosity between the 2 sides. With Jedah and Ozom gone, it’d only make sense that Raptor would be the new leader of the Dohma family with his greed and carelessness leading to the Q-Bee’s overpopulation.

Oh, I meant both Jedah and Demitri had animosity with Belial morso than the other two targeting Jedah.

Either way, I don’t think it’s odd to think that Morrigan may have been aware of Jedah’s presence prior to Jedah’s defeat, however that defeat may have occurred, and perhaps whatever relationship they may have had before Jedah returned with the Fetus of God led to her defeating him but not outright killing him. Morrigan also has a quote vs Jedah along the lines of “You never seem to learn…so I guess it’s time for your punishment.”

Jedah was trapped in the gate for 600 years and Morrigan was born a century later. I guess Morrigan could have been told about him but not outright met Jedah.

If the paragraph at the end of DS3 is true than Jedah just reincarnated to do his job again. The lack of Lillth dies complicate things but it can assumed that she’s there but 3D models cost more than just re-using a Lillth sprite like in MVC1+2.

I never got much into Darkstalkers’ story, I wonder how hard it would be to catch up.
Can you understand the plot just with the stuff the games give to you, or do you need to go searching for obscure facts to get the full picture?

@Phantom_Miria there’s a video series called “meet the darkstalkers” which explains the character’s stories. The console version also add extra plot info but the plot info for DS2 is only in the Japanese Saturn version but the DS3 info is there which details Jedah creating the Majigen and the Majigen perishing and Jedah’s possible fate. You’ve also got to read between the lines:

This link has the playlist for each episode of “meet the darkstalkers” as well as a retrospective and “how strong is Jedah?” video.

@Psychoblue
@Phantom_Miria

I could get those DS2 epilogue translations. When you finished the game with the character and saw their ending you’ll get a 30 second shot at a characters. In the JP Saturn version, they added text which foreshadowed some of DS3’s plot points like Morrigan finds out her dad died or how Victor’s little sister ceased to function. Just reply so I’ll know if you want them!

Darkstalkers story is REALLY scattered. Good luck with that.
