Or maybe he’s actually weaker than he was in Alpha because his body is technically dead, he’s been kept alive only on borrowed time through the Illuminati’s technomagical nonsense and his ability to interact with the Satsui no Hado is just the technomagic stuff doing its job.
I think Nash’s status is pretty ambiguous all things considered.
Even after admitting that Nash hasn’t had a chance to master his body due to being dead, Kolin still said Nash’s new power should’ve made him strong enough to handle Bison. Nash doesn’t necessarily disagree with this notion, either. The main problem was that Bison’s Psycho Power continued to rise over time, so the new power Nash had acquired didn’t account for that progressions.
The outcome between Ryu and Nash was shown to be even, and gave both of them a better understanding of the powers they possessed. I find it highly unlikely Nash would be weaker than Alpha 2 Nash and still hang with Ryu in a battle like that. I mean, they weren’t trying to kill each other, but if they did nothing (as in held-back entirely and barely used their power), then the battle wouldn’t have been enlightening for either. Nash needed to know how powerful he was. Ryu needed to know if the power was worth having. Once the battle was finished, Ryu made up his mind and decided to keep fighting with the SnH regardless, while Nash decided to continue on with his quest for revenge.
Outside of that, we’ve seen Nash move with blinding speed to confront Bison, as well as wield the ability to completely absorb energy and presumably add it to his own. I feel like Nash’s main issue was that he never had much time to fully integrate the power. On a basic level, though, I see him being superior to Alpha Nash.
But that brings up the issue of ASF Nash and Character Story Nash/Vs Nash. Both are entirely different in personality and their overall understanding of things. ASF Nash just seems logical and robotic. The other Nash seems to have better awareness to everything that’s taking place around him. Also seems to be more in-depth with his powers compared to ASF Nash.
Not really SFxT but like you said earlier MVCi. SFxT is made in a different engine that is along with SF4. 4 player system can be so good to be true along with other dlc content. Knowing Capcom they just either put demand content thats it as a DLC or just a new rebrand package with all the new content.
Agree with Daemos
Necali was rage and power but outsmarted by the experience and techniques of the others. This was like Orochi in SNK mythos which is supposed to be powerful because it is a manifestation of destruction but defeated by humans by there techniques. It’s like also how Ash beat orochi Iori easily and stole his artifact. Rage and power doesn’t gurantee victory without skill.
As for Fang. I believe he and Sagat would face each other if they would be in a single SF title.
I don’t know if Capcom would make Fang have a grudge to Sagat. If Capcom made Sagat be beaten by Fang that means they are making Fang a anticipated villain in the future.
If Fang and Sagat destroys each other that probably to eliminate sagats reaappearance. They probably save Fang in the future. Fang would probably cheat Sagat.
Phantom_Miria
Nash can have become powerful in ki aspect and strenght but in his condition the DURABILITY and Mental stability is sacrifice in return.
I still want Nash to return not a Zombie or a frankwnstein. How I wish the Nash that was destroyed was just a ELEVEN like the other speculated earlier.
I thought Ibuki’s SFV default look was silly but DiGi Valentine really went in…
[/quote]
I love Digivalentine. And I gotta say, he was absolutely brutal with this one. And rightfully so. Granted, Ibuki’s place in the story could be as a result that the plot mainly revolved around the Fall of Shadaloo. Ibuki has no direct ties with it, so the only way for her to have any “relevance” in the story mode was to have her as a comedy character.
Now I actually liked the interactions between Mika and Ibuki, albeit, there were times where it was a little annoying. If the story had darker, more serious moments, lik an early death of a character, or maybe someone gets left behind after their first visit with Shadaoo, then their comedy interactions would bring levity in a serious plot. But seeing that Capcom didn’t take many risks with the story, nor did they handle main character arcs properly, I can see why Digi thought that the comedy bits felt unnecessary.
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: Nash, both pre-SFV and SFV, is capable of owning Bison. That’s why Illuminati was shocked (see the aftermath episode where Kolin and Gill are talking) that the prophecy didn’t play out exactly as they had expected due to external factors (the moons). And we all know Nash had the upper hand in the Alpha 2 fight. Before anyone (Daemos most probably) claims Viper’s retelling of the fight is more accurate, meaning the fact that Nash was winning the fight was retconned, no, it wasn’t. Nash flat out says he was betrayed by his friends in his story and this is proof that things happened the way they did in Alpha 2.
Nash feels inferior to Bison in ASF, because Bison had all the time in the world to increase his power, whereas Nash was lying still in a grave during the said time period. Add to that the fact that Bison got a power boost from the moons and you have the tables turned on Nash. He still did fine against Bison in ASF in his “Final Mission”, but you can only see that when it’s Ryu’s turn and Bison’s life starts 30% off in Extreme (or whatever that other mode you get after beating the Normal difficulty is called). All in all, Nash had the greatest potential as a plot device, but was wasted in ASF. This doesn’t change the fact that he had Bison on his knees in Alpha 2, though. Nash has always been able to take down Bison. He is obsessed with the guy and knows him better than anyone else (sans Viper at this point maybe) and is better prepared than anyone else for the said reasons + his training and overall strength.
I agree wholeheartedly with DiGi Valentine, and I’ll add that all “nostalgia” costumes should be free. It is in very bad form to redesign a character outfit into shit and then charge for the original. I also hate that they have labeled the “nostalgia” costumes as “nostalgia” when the reason people wanted to have classic Alex and classic Ibuki is because they are better, not because of nostalgia.
Thanks for the welcome! Really interesting that the castle was actually name-checked in source materials in the past - I never knew that.
I guess the discrepancy could be because Japan uses “England” (Igirisu) as a catch-all term for the whole UK (including Scotland) as some other nations sometimes do, and so when designing the stage years ago for Super, they based it on a Scottish location for an English character (which is of course fine - we’re all in the UK…for now !)
Initially I was very attracted by Ibuki’s visual design (the classic ninja outfit one, not the questionable school outfit she has in V) but I ended up being turned off by her personality. Can I call it shallow? Ibuki’s motives in IV and V are both kinda shallow. In III she had a more serious storyline because she was on a mission for her clan and her role as a ninja was treated more seriously in general. Meanwhile her role in the stories of both IV and V felt forced and unimportant to be honest.
And I can’t really follow these power discussions, I’m still of the belief that 90% of the cast is roughly on equal terms with few outliers. Nash ought to belong in the upper side because he’s described as Guile’s mentor and he’s visually shown as greatly skilled (being able to throw a Sonic Boom with one arm while Guile needs to use both) and he’s always treated with respect in the stories he’s in, but I don’t think he’s on Bison level. Any Bison, regardless of this or that plot device going on.
The way I see it is this: Nash, at the very best, can be considered an equal to Rose if we also downplay Rose. If we don’t downplay Rose she can get as high as being an equal to Bison, and this would be being relatively generous. At no point I can see Nash being at Bison’s level, which doesn’t mean he can’t beat him in a fight though.
Battles aren’t necessarily all about power, a weaker opponent can defeat a stronger one if he plays it right, and Nash can definitely get the upper hand in a fight against Bison even if he’s stronger on paper. In my opinion that’s exactly what happens in Alpha 2, where Nash ends up being betrayed and killed even as he just accomplished a huge feat.
At least that’s my view on it, power levels are bullshit and all that.
Especially in fighting games.
On an unrelated note DiGi posted a video on Mika too:
Seriously though, Mika doesn’t have nipples. I’m concerned.
Her tits are out, her nipples should obviously be visible on her default but they aren’t. What Psycho Power sorcery is going on here!?
Thats the problem with Capcom nowaday whoever handling and incharge in the story didn’t have understanding of why a character dress like that, act like that and move like that. Its like they are only aware of the plot, motivation and a bit of vitae type information. No awareness reagarding characterization, symbolism and fashion sense.
Until now I hated Nash large stiches because it felt cheap and meh. It’s kinda darkstalkers kinda stich not SF. The same with Birdies giant Donut. It’s like those that gave an a okay to those stuff never understand how Street Fighters world works since those stuff are more Darkstalkers thing.
There’s a limit to how big can the character’s boobs be before they begin to look straight up ridiculous, it’s like she has a couple of balloons instead of breasts
Ivy from Soul Calibur suffers from same shit by the way
Laura is borderline there but at least hers are a little more hidden than Mika’s
It’s the same reason why virtually every female in MK9 looked stupid - they were all basically porn models with inflated tits, shit looked disgusting
1-Yeah, that’s why i said bad writing on him… Rog one is by far the worst and as small it is, still one of the first things i will change if i was the one to chose.
Or at least they should have explained Nec is heavy weakened by not having absorbed a strong fighter in a long time (last was the warrior prophet) and by SFV fights he got, wasting energies without feed.
Think Dragon Ball (very first) where you got kid Goku getting beated up/defeated by much inferioir opponents because he was hungry, something like that… after all they have freedom on how it work the metabolism of a clay cannibal golem =)
But Necalli is still supposed to be a great danger (think example the chopter scene where giving zero fucks a chase 94 street fighters at same time)
Btw in ASF at begin he defeat Ryu and more than get defeated by Sim, he’s just stopped by him, if anything in the after-fight cutscene Sim is the one bounced back and Ryu stand to his side. Nec realize he will not defeat both at once and leave (same as when Nec seem to stupid want a R2 vs Bison but leave as soon also Fang step in)
About Dhalsim one i think two things: first Sim have been reinvented (like Zangief) as a surprising strong character, just think that in Nec prophecy he’s one of the 3 meals dude need to reach the ultimate form, others being Ryu and Bison.
Not saying he’s incredibly strong, but be in that trio is’nt a small thing.
Also he’s a spiritual based char, his power will get stronger as long he get older… so this whitebeard old Sim is the strongest he’s ever been
The second thing is that he may also be one of the chars better equiped (story wise) to fight Nec, due of his spiritual control that offer zero energy to Nec’s ability of absorb opponent’s power… and also that way he just stopped Nec for a moment
For how i see it Sim know the way, but lack the brutal straight energy (that Ryu have) to apply the gameplan
2- I don’t know why you’re downplaying Kolin and Nash lol
Kolin only does fun icicles? Well, i guess almost any SFer power can be reduced to 3-words funny description.
From what we see ingame she got a very high-level Systema and Sambo, and she can use her ice power to create various size ice spikes, make ice blocks appear and fall at distance (controlling air humidity), freeze the ground to gain speed, freeze opponent, make her hands harder or even freeze them to be used as an ice-knife.
And i guess if we really get second V-mechanics as the rumor say, we will see new applications
We got almost zero indications in ASF of where Kolin’s power level stand compared to other characters canon wise… the only one is Juri (that already know her) that seem think she will be a worthy opponent, aka better than Rashid.
And if we pretend for second Kolin is truly a worthy opponent, standing more or less at Juri’s level that place her slighty above Vega and above Fang/Rog
Of course an opinion, but i will fav her if in a story clash he fight Vega (great char that i like) and i will be kinda shocked if they don’t make her demolish Fang lol
About Nash i think he’s a glass cannon now… but still a cannon.
Illuminati’s power undoubtedly gave him an huge boost on offensive side: dude now dash-teleport like a motherfucker, got new energy-based attacks and powers and a fucking kamikaze ki bomb attack lol.
He’s probably inferior to his former alive self if we speak about health, life expectance and maybe even ability of recover from damage… but if we speak about stright potential in a single fight, zombie-Nash is the most powerful he’s ever been.
Bison rightfully taunt him as being dead, as he will not being able to tap into his own vital energy (ki) to recover or surpass his own limits (like Ryu does), but still look like for a single fight the energy Illuminati put into his body is enough to make him more powerful than he’s ever been
Story wise he also wasted some of it to “exorcize” Abel, and anyway has been able to take a round from Bison and weaken him, a feat i don’t see any of the current shadakings being able to do
3- As start "Shadaloo at its peak was the single most powerful and terrifying shadow government in the world."
This is straight false.
Illuminati in SF lore controlled for thousands years events of world, manipulating governements at theyr will… they could cause an entire nation (or nationS) to attack somebody if they wish so.
It’s even implied they let Shadaloo be, wich is cool because Illuminati mean enlighted in italian but also simply well-lighted, it got the latin core “lumen” wich is literally THE light… and there can be no Shadow without Light
Also them being “harmless”?
They don’t use open violence because they don’t need to, as they have the control.
Take an area heavy controlled by an high level mafia and compared it to a random chaotic scum ghetto full of crackheads and little criminals.
Second case will be much much violent.
They don’t build weapons because they don’t need to. They can manipulate existing nations that already got army/weapons
Shadaloo never got that kind of global world power.
Not even WW2 Germany got it, and Shadaloo at no point gone that far with worlds nations join to open fight it.
To take a modern counterpart Shadaloo is a North Korea or to go a bit in the past Saddam’s Iraq.
Or if you want take the terrorism side, Bin Laden’s al-qaida
About fighting
Illuminati martial tradition does’nt born with Gill/Urien, as start theyr “official” matial art is greek pankratium, wich is one of the oldest martial arts and is very possible in SF universe (in our world is “extinct”, MMA is more a diluted replica and still very different) has been taught master to disciple for thousands of years
Then they got SIXTY-SIX secret arts and we seen just two used by Gill/Urien
Interessing there is that it’s mentioned just these two techniques and not Gill’s control of fire and ice or Urien’s control over magnetism/metal.
Even cooler "the known maximum elemental capacity in a human is three"
I’m not sure they’re speaking about Gill there, depend if they count Gill’s light (seraphic wings super) as a third element… if not at some point in the past they had somebody able to control one more element than him
Also last but not last lol at only Shadaloo being decribed “survival of the strong” manifest when Illuminati itself is huge into eugenetics
Gill is literally selecting the strong fighters he want to survive to kill everyone else LOL, tell me more about survival of the fittest
About the average quality of an Illuminati fighter
We seen very little in SF3.
What we seen now is that Kolin herself is a very high level fighter (how high open to debate) and they was able to take a dead fighter and turn him into something as powerful as ZombieNash
They created Necro too
Is also possible likely that other candidates were strong af too, being defeated by Urien/Gill is no shame… like the “third” strongest of the group behind them can be still able to whoop 90% of SF cast for what we know lol
And even considering they’re a small number (let’s say dozens) it’s not like Shadaloo itself got an army of SF level soldiers… many Dolls themselves seem on the weak side of the SF spectrum, and under them shada-grunts are portraied as pretty weak.
Even the two psycho-powered ones of Fang’s experiment get quickly destroyed by Vega/Rog
If we speak about Shada-grunts they’re mostly just soldiers, in SFV timeline soldiers with some MA training, but nothing more.
I see no reason why an org like Illuminati can’t build up a similar force if they feel the need of it
Are referred as nostalgia as they’re from a 1997 game
Then will have been more classy call it “Classic”, as nostalgia make it seem you want them because you can’t adapt to new, just-as-cool design? (False LOL)
Yes, i agree, but that’s mostly semantics
SF2 Vega, SFA Bison, SFA Birdie etc etc
Give me classic alts, and i will buy it regardless of what shit name they invent for them in the super relevant internet shop
PS: in Bengus defense, his SFV Alex concept wise was almost as cool as SF3 one, before some probably external-hired western 3D modeller ignored his vision like if it was just a suggestion and gave us the worst looking char of the game (wich affect even the Nostalgia SF3-version, as crap face and wrong body proportions are still there)
To be honest, I am not that fond of the whole “power leveling” aspect of the characters in fighting games. If anything, I’d rather just go by the notion that every playable character is far above average or nigh-superhuman with an almost equal chance of winning against each or overcoming specific scenarios while bosses are (in theory) stronger than the regular playable characters but not outright unbeatable.
