The Inevitable Street Fighter V Story Thread: ARCADE EDITION!

Cool

If they tone down details a bit and give him a less pussy haircut this could be a great future alt

I like the Napoleon costume Ed had. That should be a good alt for him.

wrong post

Ed with the giant hat looks ridiculous, I wish they went with that design rather than the musclebound military officer with weird puny hat we got (I like Edā€™s character, I donā€™t think the overly muscular design fits him well though).

They mention that this concept has a modified body and repeatedly uses pills by evident by the pill case on his waist. He also has a Psycho Power amplifying device on his stomach

Kinda Seth thing? or even the rest are on the stomach too?

You can see it. Itā€™s the weight belt with the dials on it.

I shooped it to show how i will have liked it
Less details/stuff to not be overdesigned (for SF standards), less wierdo haircut, a bit leaner line

Will have liked this as alt

They didnā€™t really soften her up, though. Itā€™s just that she shared an enemy with the good guys, same as Urien. Itā€™s like in a comic book story were Dr. Doom or Lex Luthor has to team with the heroes to stop a bigger threat.

Me too. I mean, heā€™s still too buff, and too tattooed, but I like the athletic ware.

Gym training Ed is a good idea for an alt but man those proportions are bad and a lot of that outfit is awful. As usual @Cestus edit is FAR superior.

BTW, fellasā€¦

Confirmed my appointment. Tattoo goes on the 24th (my birthday). Iā€™ll have pics

Well that explains a lot. My birthday is on the 25th.

For the build keep in mind that thatā€™s just an artwork, adjusted to the 3D playable model will have worked fineā€¦ SFV Ed is ripped as fuck, but for SF standards heā€™s still on the lean side

Like, if we donā€™t count Sim or Fang who are ā€œfreaksā€ build/design wise, i think him (Ed) and Rashid are the two most lean/built for speed male characters

Itā€™s SF style, just think Guy in SF4, whoā€™s supposed to be even more agility/speed based than them and still got dem arms

Also i think in theyr mind Ed wasā€™nt supposed to be totally a speedy guy, his lean figure seem more there to simbolize his youth (think Ryu/Ken in Alpha days) and is a transitory phaseā€¦ his physical prime is about be a good balance between power and speed (aka buff af in SF world), with a slight preference for mobility/dynamism

As for the tatoo idkā€¦ on one side it look overdone and edgy/tryhard, on the other hand they seem pretty sold on mark Ed with the Shadaloo symbol (see Battle costume too)
Concept wise i think it can be nice, is like a visible curse that remember his destiny for him

I think it work as long is made as an imposed ā€œofficial symbolā€ and doesā€™nt look like a modern/urban tatoo he did on himself to look coolā€¦ like on Battle costume it worked imho

mind blown

Best month of the year

Do you think Capcom will ever stop shoving the CE cast into every new Street Fighter game? They did try with III and with Alpha at least in the beginning, but since, (IV and V) looks like theyā€™ll continue being the staple roster forever and ever.

Also Iā€™m bored of the Shadaloo plots; according to SFIII, Shadaloo was destroyed and we saw that happening in A Shadow Falls, but Balrog and Vega are still around and it looks like Ed will carry on with the Shadaloo stuff or something. Iā€™d like them to take another leap forward and abandon the CE cast (perhaps keep a couple characters aside from Ryu, Ken and Chun-Li, but no more) and the Shadaloo storyline forever, in favour of a new and more fresh storyline.

First step would be firing Ono for once.

@Daemos and @YagamiFire

Well, you guys are 2 of the 4 Kings for a reason.

I remember some old interview saying that Shadowloo and/or Bison were ā€œalive and wellā€ during the events of SFIII. Iā€™d take it with a grain of salt though, as thatā€™s something which could easily get retconned. As for the CE cast, most of them keep getting in because theyā€™re popular or iconic. Ryu/Ken/Chun are obvious picks, but you still have massive followings for Guile, Akuma, and Cammy, while Zangief/Dhalsim cover their archetype so well that thereā€™s no point in replacing them for the time being.

A fresh roster COULD work in theory, but Alpha 1/New Generation failed there for a number of reasons:

  • Shit gameplay variety (find me an analog to Zangief in either game)
  • ā€œNewā€ characters make the lack of veterans more painful (Alpha Birdie, Nash, Necro)
  • Neither game completely redid the genre like what happened between SF1->SF2, so people just wanted tweaked versions of what they knew to match the game

Proud to be one of the 4 Kings if this thread is Shadaloo. Weā€™re far more functional than the actual organization.

Agreed. Alpha 1 and New Generation were both shit for a new numbered entry when it came to actual gameplay variety. They did good things but it felt like both went off in bad directions too far and not far enough in others.

It wasnā€™t until SFAII that I fell in love with the Alpha series and put in countless hours. Hell, I bought a Saturn with my own money as a tween so I could get SFAII.

That saidā€¦Iā€™m cool with Ed as a new main character in the vein of Jin with Ryu as a boss-style character. A new New Gen game could be awesome if done right now that SF is back into the zeitgeist. It worked great for MKX.

Older Guile? Bad-ass. (for some reason I want him to have a Tom Selleck mustache)

30-something hardcore military Cammy? Do it up.

To be honest I truly loved the Alpha1 roster.

It was a good mix between classic SFII characters, some others from SF1, some guys from Final Fight and a couple new guys.

Being able to play for first time with Sodom, Adon, Guyā€¦ It was as good as one could get.
