Only Vega would have himself as a sidekick. It actually makes perfect sense when you think about it.
We really need Gill in this game. Not because he’s a sorely missed character, but because he fits in with the storyline quite well. His interest in Alex starts here, he can have a dream match with Bison, he can fight Kolin and Urien and give us insigthful win quotes, Vega can see him as the epitome of human beauty (?) and do stuff, Juri’s and Viper’s involvement in the Illuminati can be expanded upon and maybe we all can get to give our last boss in the timeline another chance overall. If S3 has Sagat and Gill we can have all the bosses in one single game and that would make a great SF experience for us story nerds.
Agreed. Gill is a big time necessity at this point.
I hope his model is better than what we got at the end of story…cuz damn he looks AWESOME in Kolin’s story mode.
Yeah, he looks bad in the cinematic story, but so did Kolin and they changed her model. I’m hopeful for S3.

Do you mean by the beginning of SF3? Gen was alive in SF4 (after SF2) and seemingly is killed by Akuma’s story.
The struggle = not being able to both “Insightful” and “lol” Darc’s posts.

To be fair, even characters that got more screen time like Ed or Kolin (and were closer to be released) got way less refined models compared to their playable version, and Gill in ASF was in for very few seconds and never clearly showed (if we don’t count modders)
I think if Azam will ever be playable, they will 100% remade his model too
If anything we should pray who will do the final playable 3D model will not be the same criminal that did this
RIP ALEX 1998-2016
ps: i want Gill in also because i hope to see playable Tom vs Gill in SFV
I still have this running theory that Tom was trained or fought alongside Nash at some point and learned a few tricks from him which he then passed onto Alex.
I mean come on “Flash” Kick and “Flash” Chop?
Yes, I completely agree about the whole canon tier, it’s something I even bring up earlier in this very thread. They’re not something I’m fond of and I wouldn’t plan on adding to my guide. Obviously, you have characters in the series who are portrayed stronger than a majority of the characters. The thing is, what most people do is boil down the"top" characters and “bottom” into those respective categories with everyone else in the “middle”. Whatever you want to label them is irrelevant (S-F tier, I-7, whatever).
The thing is when you’re dealing with characters in a story scenario, sure its easy to say “Oh, look Akuma split a mountain he’s one the strongest” or “Oh Dan and Sean are jobbers”, basically trying to find reasons why one character should go into which tier. Obviously, these reason’s bring upon a bit of bias even if you do present facts to the argument. So what if Akuma can split a mountain, that just tells me he’s super strong, it doesn’t tell me why or where all this power is coming from. Is this the same type of strength Gief has where he can pull trains or spin piledrive bears 30 to 40 ft in the air?
The answer’s no because one is basically a fighting wizard who amplifies his strength with a super natural power, and the other uses the full potential of human physical fitness and muscle power. Who’s really stronger in this aspect of strength? I really wanted to see something which better represents the powers of each character instead of a ranking list of who is potentially stronger than who because there are different ways of being strong or fast or crafty in the SF world and I thought it would be a much more interesting discussion as to why these characters can do the things they do instead of a list of power.
We’ve thought about different ways to showcase this earlier in the thread.

Okay since we’re short on new information, I’d like to put this venn diagram up for discussion. It’s meant to categorize all the known Street Fighters’ fighting styles/strengths/powers based on what we know of the character’s backgrounds. There are a few ones that were a bit confusing (Blanka for example), and some that I am unsure about (e.g. Gill, Urien, Dhalsim, Akuma) but overall I think it is mostly accurate.

Since Rashid’s wind got stronger when he was angry, can we presume he’s using his own chi and not the backpack?
Doesn’t that make you HIS sidekick?
That, and the fact that none of his alt costumes have the backpack, but he still has the wind.
I assume the backback is just full of his various tech knicknacks.
I’ve long thought the backpack thing was debunked. His backpack never had any indicators it did anything and Rashid activates wind with spinning; he never shoots anything out. Also if it was a tool, the other fighters would call him out the way they call out Viper. Also I can’t tell, but after taking the piece from Chun doesn’t Azam make a whirlwind to join Rashid’s when they fly out? There’s also the angry wind moment you mentioned.
edit: also what Darth said about his alts is important. Look at Vega, his changes his outfits significantly, but he’s always with a claw, part of his arsenal. There’s also, aesthetically, not a lot of attention placed on his backpack. It doesn’t glow, there’s no tech sfx when the wind is generated, or anything made to bring it to the audience’s attention. There’s more focus on his visor than his backpack. Alt outfits get rid of both the pack and visor.
Yeah I’m pretty confident that Rashid’s backpack is just full of random goodies he picked up in (Allah!) Akihabara

His backpack seem mostly a techy exagerate back-protection, wich made kinda sense considering he’s into parkour
About the wind, Azam likely is his Master* and teached him that
Btw any character that have a KI attack is martial art/mysticism… so yes, fuckton of them
*He’s clearly a Gouken/Zangief like figure during Rashid char story, ironical how, due social rules, being his butler he’s the one that should call Rashid “Master”
Yea I’m just using the diagram as an example. A lot of the name placements are to be debated in general, also because we made that a while ago when we didn’t know too much about SF besides the main roster things like Rashid being placed solely as a character who relies more on tech in his fights was something that was shown to be inaccurate.

That would be awesome. Small detail, but a perfect tie.
It would but the reality is that there is no mentor. Rugalitarian just stands in front of a mirror and converses with his reflection.
