The Inevitable Street Fighter V Story Thread: ARCADE EDITION!

Hey bro thanks for the Oro edit, and good ingrid edit,I’m gonna tell ya something, GOOD WORK,KEEP IT,AND BE PROUD OF YOURSELF.

With that said, remember that sodom guy, when i played usfiv i listen in poison story,he is actually a teriyaki chef, could you do a edit of him like a chef or something? ,and also,i want so baaadlya Dan hibiki disguised like a samurai or kabuki.

Keep the good work bro.

And talking about fang, nice edit, to be honest, he’ s a cool adition to the roster, because he brings diversity, that s something that we haven´t seen in sf in a long time, characters like abel or seth,el fuerte or rufus, with moves like no one has seen in the past sf.

And about the story of sfv, i think it is like doing a good change, because it is not so generic like others.

well, that´s my opinion, what do ya think.

I Laugh a lot with this

We should be getting news about the next character any day now…

Speaking of which, I made a decision:

If Street Fighter V comes to the Switch, I will buy a Switch.

Do you hear me Capcom? Nintendo?

Ultra Street Fighter II ain’t enough.

If all the modern Capcom fighting games end up on the Switch, it’ll be worth buying with a Pro controller and a Hori stick.

Don’t bother. That system is garbage.

I’m not even sure it could run SFV without a downgrade in the game.

Damn.

Wait a second, I keep forgetting and finally remembered to ask you guys about this. In the April Fool’s quiz, it said something about Sodom having an alt stage??? Has anyone ever encountered it and what’s different about it? I love hidden gems, I mean just finding about the Cody-getting-hit-by-Jessica background element from last month was amazing.

His regular stage looks like this.

And here is his alternate stage.

The paintings in the truck are slightly different and more “American” themed rather than Japanese themed.

In Alpha 2, this version of the stage only appears on rare ocassions (probably chosen at random, I’ve never seen it myself), but in the Zero 2 Alpha update it’s always there, replacing his original stage.

I miss the Alpha stages. So much detail and awesomeness.

Awesome, thanks for the info! Never noticed that in all my years of playing!

A2/3 definitely had the best stages in the history of SF. People don’t give them enough credit, especially A3.

This, along with the BGM, will always be the best stage in the entire series for me:

Could not agree more.

SFA2/3 stages are amazing

If you like hidden details like these, then I recommend this blog, R. Mika’s Training Room, and these posts in particular. They’re an extensive look and analysis of most of the SF games, and ocassionally references to crossovers and other related games.

It’s all in Spanish so you won’t be able to understand the text, but you can look at the pictures and figure out most of it. If there’s anything you want to know, ask me and I’ll translate it for you.

SFIII New Generation and 2nd Impact had excellent stages too. NG even had stage transitions between rounds (2I only kept Elena’s and removed the rest, sadly), but the new stages they added in 2I are some of my favorites in the entire series. And the widescreen mode allows you to appreciate them in full!

I’d take 2nd Impact over 3rd Strike any day.

I remember seeing the stage sometime back in 1998. I was floored watching the “new” stuff come up on the stage. And then the next time I went to the stage, the English was gone… Come to find out we only had 1/4096 chance to actually see the alt stage. The grief y’all, the grief!!!

Ooh! Thanks for the link man, I’ll check it out. I’ve long loved the Capcom stages of yesteryear. I always felt that they stood out and had so much personality. Be they a beat 'em up, dating sim quiz game or fighter, they always presented beautiful assets.

I fell in love with alpha 2 heavily and really dug the alpha 3 stages. SF3 had great stages in it’s first two entries, but I was sadly disappointed with the third ones. Some looked nice, but overall it was such a drop from the first two entries. I just looked at how Alex and Ken had vibrant stages that perfectly summed up who they were, then replaced by a subway. It’s not a bad looking subway, but it was lacking oomph and that personal touch. I always wanted to know what a Q stage would look like. I could see a dark alley or even a warehouse being raided with the CIA agents scrambling over something, then as the rounds go on, they start to notice the challengers and get closer radioing for backup. I could easily see a lot of fun sight gags that would be distracting the agents. Or on the flip side, I could see a nice and subtly striking stage such as Gen’s A2 stage near the docs or again in a rundown warehouse, but it’s covered in posters of crytozoological rumous and the red connecting lines on a map. Something to make you think – is this Q’s hq or is he there to intimidate or snuff out someone who’s on to his secret.

Since the series’ resurrection I’ve been largely disappointed by the stages. There were some I liked in SF4 and SF5, but so far for me SF5 is moving in more of a right direction with every update. I think as a whole sadly, as the 90s crept on Capcom started to lessen their stage brilliance. I recently have been looking closely at stage assets and I came to notice that the VS games, while having some striking elements overall had more than a few random and generic stages that didn’t seem to tie to either universe, then in MvC2 they just went for broke and threw in random backgrounds.

I know Mugen sometimes gets flack, but I’ve seen some AMAZING updates to past stages or clever spins on what things could have been and it’s awesome. I always wanted a stage full of the villains that didn’t make the cut for the VS games. Something like “RIOT AT THE VAULT!” and you’d have Shadaloo springing tons of badguys from the Vault and a few of them would be watching the player (s) and cpu fight.

Looking at all of these classic stages just fills me with nostalgia. All of them perfectly fit the characters, too. Gen’s A2 stage in the dark alley was the perfect representation of an assassin from the underworld. Bison’s Alpha 2 stage was perfect in showing how much control he had over the army. You’d think those guys would be fighting Bison, but they’re in the background saluting him instead. Ryu’s A2/A3 stages show that weather isn’t an issue for a man on an endless path. Rain or shine or snow, Ryu is always training. Ken’s A2 stage shows he’s definitely not a man lacking in “social graces” since everyone is on the boat getting lit. You know, it’s quite easy to find a reason for why everyone’s stage is unique to them. That just defines how amazing they were.

Then of course, the #1 stage when it comes to rivals settling their differences in battle:

I’m really hoping this stage is recreated someday for the newer generation of SF. It’s too good.

Can never forget Nash’s A2 stage. I remember how intimidated I felt when I first fought Nash with the jet hovering in the background. Thought the jet was gonna launch missiles at me

If there’s one thing I really appreciate about SF, having the opportunity to experience the series as a whole is at the top of the list. Easily.

Also, don’t forget this:

LOL, Berserk brothers will appreciate this

They should have made Gill-Griffith though

Btw, speaking of awesome stages, when i can get this?
