The Inevitable Street Fighter V Story Thread: ARCADE EDITION!

Forgive me as I’m relatively new to checking FGC websites, but why is this Sneakers person a reliable source?

He’s a game developer.

Not just that, but he’s been able to accurately leak information more than enough times to be trusted. GAF checks your sources to see if you’re talking out of your ass or not. If your sources are fraudulent, you get banned. That’s one of the sites that doesn’t take fake rumors lightly.

Gotcha. I just don’t get how they could check the sources if it’s ‘my friend at Capcom’ or whatever. I’m leery of people claiming to be insiders.

That said, the IJ2 leak was 100% legit, as was the Kolin stuff, so I realize it happens.

They usually do it via PM so the insider won’t get put on blast. Not sure of the specifics, but when Sneakers and another leaker leaked that a new MVC was going to be unveiled, the GAF mod double-checked to make sure it wasn’t a bunch of hot air. He was ready to close to topic because he didn’t want everyone to get amped up over nothing. Once the information in the PM was sent, the mod just left the topic open. A few days later, Infinite was announced.

I still think it helps to exercise caution in general, but I honestly think we’re good here.

Oh ok it is the MVC leak guy. Gotcha! Thanks for context.

I write young Bison as an ambitious fighter trying to expand his understanding of his art through exploring the esoteric and hidden. Like a Nazi thule society member. He travels in military circles because it gives him special access and he is comfortable in the rigid hierarchical structure, never having liked the more personal atmosphere of his training. Young Bison is antisocial and arrogant an tempermental. Older Bison is calm, sociopathic and talkative having developed from soldier to dictator

As he ages, he embraces technology mirroring how he himself becomes colder and detached from tradition.

He starts out researching eldritch things and by the time of SF he is himself an eldritch horror.

Conversely Gill starts out religious and faithful and kind and develops a narcissistic god complex as he gets success after success.

A big difference is that Bison plans for failure. Gill can’t truly conceive of it.

For how i see it, all 3 (Gill, Bison, Urien) are over-confident

All 3 did errors that could have caused their fail even without the unexpected role of Ryu

Gill does’nt want take shit with his hands, he consider all will go well because muh prophecy, and asked his secretary to sent an experimental assassin to do a such important job (LOL).
And even like that if we must believe Nash if the moons were deactivated not “too late” he liked his chances… or better i think he mean that if the machine did’nt completely restored Bison he thought the kamikaze illuminati energy thing will have succeeded.
Still, if was’nt for Ryu, Bison will have got his shit together and not only restored the already useed moon, but all others… reaching a level that will have made him maybe untouchable, at least directly as face him 1vs1.
They will have to somehow bring down all moons and kill a Bison that stored PP from them… wich seem just much more difficult that just go all-in against him during ASF (but the price will have been reveal Illuminati to the world, and worse show no faith in the “relax, everything will be ok” prophecy)

Keeping the Berserk parallel also them did* with Griffith/Gill (Kolin story), it’s kinda like when Griffith let his subordinate (Zodd/Nash**) attack Ganiska but he was’nt enough, and an enemy, the hero (Guts/Ryu) had to give him the final strike. in Berserk they tag-team (with Guts sword being the last effetive weapon), in SFV they fight in sequence (with Ryu using his hado)

For who know that part of Berserk, the Ganiska(Bison)/Griffith(Gill) can feel familiar lol

To keep the parallel, in SFV Bison/Ganiska get “destroyed” in his 1 moon (just stored energy, as the moon was deactivated) form wich is a bit a parallel to Ganiska’s Apostle/Thunder form… seem unstoppable, but still far from the “Godly” 7 Moons/Shiva form both Bison and Ganiska can reach

Fun thing also Ganiska to reach that “god” status needed an artificial device (Man-Made Behelit) made by his wierdo minion sorcerer and 2nd in command (Daiba), wich again parallel SFV with Fang and his 7 Moons project

Difference is that Ganiska’s form that lost to Zodd/Guts was just a spiritual projection and so was’nt destroyed by them… after that he still had the chance to fulfill his potential to reach the “shiva form” (as if Nash/Ryu defeated a PsychoPower-made ghost, and the real Bison still reached 7 moons status)

There you get Griffith that finally go to handle shit by himself an go fuck up Ganiska.
Even if he does it by deflecting somebody else attack (Skull Knight)

Fun thing is that Griffith kill “god/shiva Ganiska” in that way because SK’s attack (to explain it simply and slighty wrong) have the ability to “bend” reality and killing Ganiska like that not only destroy the monster but change the entire world in a way desired by Griffith

Basically Griffith likely got the power to kill (even “god” form) Ganiska directly but chose an indirect method that turned his prophecy true
Sound familiar lol

Returning to SFV, Gill seem confident and willing to be “a Griffith”… but we don’t know if his (still canon unseen) full power will have allowed him to face a Bison that got all 7 Moons active

Probably not lol… at least if himself does’nt have some crazy Illuminati power-up that we still do’t know, or if his actual power when he REALLY go all-in is like in that Udon comic*** where he put down at same time E.Ryu and Oni

On Bison’s chances defense, Kolin herself say that if he got his plan 100% done, nobody will be able to stop him

But is also true that Gill himself does’nt seem as concerned, being his confidence well placed or not.
Is also possible that Kolin does’nt know fully the power (and the nature) of Gill, kinda like Caska seen and loved only the good, smiling and “Prince Charming” surface part of still human Griffith without possibly imagine the Devil (Phemt) that he become later (while keeping the “angel” mask)

*Kolin story mode was basically a Berserk ripoff lol
**of course it will have been a more straight parallel if AKUMA was Illuminati’s assassin, but still
*** as much i dislike E.Ryu/Oni concepts, PLS never make anything from fucking udon canon LOL

S2 started officially at the end of 2016, so S3 will start at December 2017 I bet.

Also Cestus, if Bison got his way and achieved final form he really would’ve been unstoppable. Psycho Power would not only have kept him alive forever, but he would become invincible, or at the very least been able to regenerate and recover from any attack instantly. Short of Oni, and maybe Ryu Final - Final Bison would’ve been unparalleled, he would’ve been the most powerful Street Fighter of all.

Gill didn’t appear in SFV not because he was confident he could beat Bison, but because Gill is trying to stick to the script. The Prophecy says that he would emerge AFTER the Black Moons fell to Earth and caused unfathomable chaos. It states that he would appear after the darkness and show people the light. Since Gill has a Messiah complex, he NEEDS to follow this script to justify his worldview and those who believe in him.

Gill is actually NOT the Messiah in the prophecy, but he really really wants to be so he goes to great lengths to orchestrate it so that he appears to be the chosen one. Urien knows this to be true and so did the old guard of the Illuminati before Gill killed them one by one (according to Viper in Urien’s character story).

If you were to ask me, I’d say Alex was the prophecized boy that would emerge after the darkness. Gill is a false god.

Forgot to add, keeping the Ganiska/Bison parallel is also fun consider that maybe/probably Bison will have not be able to handle the 7 Moons power

Ganiska once he go “god form” gain an immense power that not even an immortal, supernatural being like him can handle and lose completely his self awareness, rational thinking and any idea of WTF wanted to do
*
“Despite his power, Ganishka loses all sense of rational thinking and self, unable to register the fact that he is now a huge entity and sees everyone around him as insects. It can be observed that his mental state deteriorates as he stays in this form. At first he is able to recognize Daiba, but is then disoriented and starts to lose himself under his sheer power. He crushes his army under his footsteps and considers the gore thus produced as “crimson flowers” while sired familiars emerge from the corpses’ remains”*

Not saying that same will have happened to Bison, but we already seen Psycho Power having a price on him

SFV Bison power alone consumed his last body to the point of get white hair

SFV 1Moon Bison lasted too little time to start show consequences… but in long period?
Also the way he shatter after Ryu last attack like a ceramic doll is there to symbolize some kind of fragility

We seen Akuma (and Oni) in both manga and SF4/SFV alts show the same bizzarre effect, and he’s another char that is powering himself up with massive amount negative energy
Even the last Evil Ryu in Sf4 and the next in MvC had big emphasis on scar/wounds

In comparision Ryu that use pure/positive ki just straight tank Bison’s last psycho attack and his body seem to have an unexpected ability of not be damaged

Wich all connect with @YagamiFire post about negative ki and “power from death” being with a price

Bison was prepared for all 7 Moons this time though, everything suggests this to be so. I think he learned from his previous mistake.

Bison’s body was probably pure Psycho Power chi on the inside (like Oni), what Ryu did was negate and nullify that power, turning Bison’s chi into “nothingness” from the inside out. Bison’s reaction was intriguing to say the least.

I would posit that Bison was wiped out like that (hollowed out really) because he was, as Daemos said, overrun with Psycho Power internally.

He was hit with a Mu powered hadoken.

Mu is nothingness. Tranquility. It is not antithesis to Psycho Power, it is a zeroing factor. It is not water to the fire of PP but the vacuum of space. A regular attack? The combative nature of it would falter before PP. Its innate aggression would be fuel to the fire. Surrender or submission? You would be burned away.

The impossibility of an “attack” with no malice or, indeed, harm from it? That energy snuffed out, for a moment, Bisons chi and, like a raging inferno suddenly deprived of oxygen, Bison himself was extinguished. He was left with only the power of nothingness inside him.

Perhaps that made him smile…the irony of his great power being defeated by an attack that did no harm. Losing not in spite of his overwhelming Psycho Power but because of it.

Soul Power? He could have clashed his power with its opposing force. SnH? Would make him stronger.

But Mu…Mu was unlike anything else

1- Yes, i was agree with you. Sagat can come out in December and be “2017’s Akuma” (and finally i can consider SFV complete, once i got Muay Thai in lol)

2- We write basically the same moment about that lol, it’ one post under yours.
I disagree the whole thing of 7 Moons Bisong get his psycho happy ending… pretty much everything of SF lore hint that negative ki (SnH, PP) consume who use it.
We had not the time to see what 1Moon will have done to Bison current body (wich was probably just an improved more resistent version of previous ones) in the long run, let alone the full 7Moons power.
Bison’s current way of resist it like get high tolerance to a poison does’nt work in the long run… and he never had the change to try a 7Mooons “poison”

Wich likely is why Gen laughed at Akuma, the more powerful Akuma get using corrupted energy not made for humans, the more he move towards something bad… not a case he look more deformed in his SFV incarnation

For that reason Ed being maybe IMMUNE to PP negative effects may be a key element in future Bison story/return… Ed’s body, or take something from his DNA may be Bison’s real chance to finally build a body able to contain all the PP he can accumulate. But in ASF it was more of the same, his body was just a bigger bottle than previous ones

3- Yes, he’s not get into direct action for the prophecy, but you don’t see him concerned or torn about if jump in or not.
He’s just confident about the prophecy being true or confident in his “chosen one” power… likely both things

4- I actually agree, and the “darkness” is’nt Shadaloo but Gill himself.
GILL (and to be fair present days Illuminati) see darkness as Shadaloo and prophecy boy as Gill himself… but i find more realistic that Ancient Illuminati that actually did the original prophecy “seen” Gill’s betrayal and Apocalypse.

Gill can be Illuminati’s Anti-Christ, who presented himself to the world as the new cooler Jesus 2.0

As said many times i think even already knowing his plans we seen only the “good” half of Gill in SF3 games

Of course i think Gill could have easily destroyed Alex (Ryu proved that SF3 Alex is not THAT good) easily in SF3 arc but was in that talent-scout mood where he let win and test fighters.

I think the interessing thing he noticed in Alex was some kind of energy (ki) similar or some way compatible (maybe due DNA, they LOOK very similar) with his own, and that intrigued him for whatever reason.
Maybe find somebody with affinity with him gave him a better idea about how to create a world with “perfect peoples”, as his current selection was just generic select the strong fighters

I think somehow Alex is unique, and will learn how to develop a particular (“Chosen One” shit) energy from wich Gill can’t resurrect.
Lol, i can see Ryu (after some Oro training) be the one that goes Master mode and teach him the way.

Alex unlocking some hidden potential and killing Gill saving the world from inevitable Apocalypse can be basically the Illuminati’s Prophecy become reality.

@YagamiFire

Beautifully worded.

But we know that Bison survived the attack, so he wasn’t completely extinguished. What does that mean in terms of Martial Arts science? Did Ryu not have enough “Mu” to extinguish Bison completely hence why he is able to survive? Can Bison actually learn from this experience and develop a counter technique? Is ‘Mu’ an unstoppable force (get out of jail free card)?

I think he thought to be ready for the 7 Moons, but signs as white hairs or hollow body show that probably he was’nt

I think that’s why Capcom gave importance to Ed’s secret, because next step of Psycho Power’s evolution story wise is a Psycho Power that does’nt come with a price

Is what i’m saying too
Thing is, he was turned hollow and “frail” like that just by his own power (at his highest ever) and a little bit of 1Moon boost.
Imagine a prolonged time with 7Moons boost forced inside him

That’s why i say that they (Capcom) invented Ed as future story device to create a more advanced incarnation of Bison, because all we have seen show that does’nt matter how resistant a body is, as long you try to “contain” it, PP (or other negative ki) will corrode it from the inside at the end

If Bison find a way to create a body that have PP as natural (not forced in) form of energy that does’nt damage the host, that will be the game-changer for him

For how i see it, i can imagine them do as future “SF6” a post-SF3 conclusion of Gill’s arc with him as main Villain, with Bison returning/“resurrecting” in some weakened form trying to capture Ed as side story… wich will create the conditions to his REAL return

More than extinguish it all, seem like Ryu extinguished enough of it to reach the point it can’t support/keep together Bison’s hollow body

Bison’s body was ALREADY destroyed before fight Ryu, but he’s keep standing by pure energy like

http://rs271.pbsrc.com/albums/jj121/poetic__tragedy/sillypinkthinger.gif~c200

When his “shell” crumbled what was left of Bison’s Psycho “spirit” probably just got out like air, an maybe jumped into somebody*

*will be fun as fuck if he jumped into the little monkey lol

Thank you.

Bisons will is strong. His body is frail by comparison (and since his body is powerful indeed…well…do the math). The life force (genki) or animating force is different from ki/chi (spiritual force). This is this difference in DBZ between a regular ki sphere and the spirit bomb (genki dama). The latter is MUCH stronger and potent because it takes pure life force…not cultivated energy. Deplete your ki? You’re unconscious or weak. Deplete your genki? You die (look at what happened to Majin Vegeta when he kamikazi’d Buu with his genki)

Bisons genki…that which is Bison lives on. In some form. Weak? Diminished? In a back up body? Clinging to universal psycho power negativity like the Shadow King of Marvel until he can inhabit someone? We’ll see.

As for countering Mu? Yes and no.

Yes because it has precedent. In Hokuto no Ken, Kaioh could focus his matoki (evil chi) to disrupt the cosmos itself and destabilize the state of a Mu user. Defeating Mu by preventing the user from properly utilizing it.

Bison could do the same.

Unfortunately, in HnK, Ken then mastered Mu and the transcendent state in its true, perfect form was untouchable. A transcendent effect is independent of the laws of nature.

Again, the same should be true for Ryu. At that point, the user is basically useless as a standard warrior protagonist as they are invincible to threat. This would be the Buddha-like end goal of someone like Ryu. So…thats the no half.

Can Bison beat an incomplete state of Mu in a warrior? Yes with a pure, chaos disrupting Psycho Power. Akuma could do the same.

Do they both still absolutely 100% lose to true Mu? Yes. Without fail. Without chance for success. Absolute loss to it regardless of what they do. Their paths are inherently inferior and limited. Even if their power was limitless it would be irrelevant because Mu is beyond even the concept of a limit. It’s beyond even conceptualization. 0 beats infinity.

Bison is an egg.

He’s a weaboo?!

@Cestus

It’s really confidence that lead them to their failure and thats how I want Capcom to break Akuma in the latter part of the story latter than killing him or making him a relative to someone else.

And like I said it was only Rose that gets her prediction done right with a little resources and grip in the situation. She the one that only gets things to her plan.

How does she did it? by consulting the tarot cards more often and constant in checking if the current situation that favors her means, while the others are over confident of their agenda.

Using tarot cards is never about knowing the future because the future is never set into stone but yet divinition is more into revealing forces in the current situation that can bring possible obstacle to your progress to reach a desired goal.

So if the person is weak minded or so much ambitious it could lead him to break his spirit either lose confidence and hope or become oppressive and manipulative to force his goals.

That’s why mostly Rose is to convince and interrupt Ryu if there is a wrong decision. He does not update him in what his action may do or tells him about the future but rather demotivate him to proceed to his goals.

It was Rose’s goal that succeeds among them.

Urien is the technical part that is waiting to rise in the right situation, while Bison is the most experienced that will never hesitate to fail I would assume because he knows that he can do it again while the others can only do is delay his ambitions.

@Daemos
Agree they those future prophecy is prone to be ambiguous, Alex, Urien and Ryu are candidates along with “Ed” for Capcom planted seed to plot twist events in the future.

Agree he was to confident with the script/prophecy.

Does Rose know about the Secret Society’s prophecy?

I wonder if she was aware of it, but Bison was a more immediate threat, so thats what she focused on.
