Thanks again to Brian for hosting and feeding us, well mostly me, but thanks nonetheless. Also, thanks to Jeff for putting up with my bitching/offering advice.

Holy shit! Yo i’m puttin money on Rahim at EVO. Imma roll outta Vegas with some Bentleys and diamond teeth.

Lol. You’ll lose if you do that. Bet on Jwong. :stuck_out_tongue:

Thanks Brian! Always good times. Those tacos were pro like Rahim’s new stick.

Cody & Churro, thanks for the games; Rival, we’ll play next time! :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

Jeff & Rahim, thanks for the tips, guys. My Nina is now coming along just fine. I’ve got her tag-ins to the point where they’re almost better than Kazuya’s, and I’m playing around with the quick kicks combo as a starter. She can net big damage from a standing LK. I’m getting 341 damage from it, but I can’t seem to land a final hit after the cartwheel thing. Usually sweep, blond bomb, or skull splitter hits, but they aren’t connecting in this combo. Maybe too much juggling.

I’m also already using your advice RE bnb’s: avoid flash and huge starters and burn that meter whenever you can. I’ve found a string that uses a safe-on-block alternative to slaughter hook that I can jab > strong into, uses two tag cancels (finally got that cr. fierce juggle down) and nets 426 damage.

It may not be EVO level, but the startup string puts you out of jab punish range it it gets blocked, and you don’t have to waste meter cuz the jab to strong lets you confirm before the first tag cancel. Plus, it’s my own creation and I can do it fairly reliably. Very excite. I’ll show you at Matt’s on Saturday to get advice.

For anyone without it, here’s my PSN: mr_nezbit

J who?

I’m still trying to find another character to use besides Yoshimitsu. Granted, I really like playing Yoshimitsu and there is some decent tech out there, but I’d love to not eat 400 dmg combos just for missing a jump-in attack with him.

I think every character in the game will eat 400 dmg combos if they miss a jump-in. And I like your team: Yoshi seems to be decent at controlling space and Howard can be brought in at any time for one of those big punishes.

Plus, it’s a colorful combination–not something super boring like the first two characters introduced ;( :stuck_out_tongue:

So 1 week in and the game has three infinites discovered for it, including a retarded ass easy one for Xiayou. Who needs one frame links when you can just repeat a special move in the corner over and over. Where’s my Yoshi infinites dammit?!?

So, are we still down for the 17th? Weather’s looking decent on Saturday.

Eh. The infinites will get patched. It’s no biggie.

I ain’t worried, I just want a Yoshi infinite is all.

A yoshi infinite that will just get patched?

Juri x Hwoarang. already have 2 pages worth of notes.
(First time I ever take notes, I’m sure you guys understand what this means)
just sayin’, super saiyan.

17th is a go. 7pm. who can NOT make it?

Are you going to run tourneys for all the available games?

Can’t make it. No babysitter.

Dislikes this.

@Churro: Two pages? Maybe I’m misunderstanding, but how many different ways can you write “dive kick, overhead kick, wall-bounce combo, repeat”?

To be fair, Hwoarang’s dive kick doesn’t allow any direct combos afterwards and those overheads are slow, so once you’re aware of them they’re easier to respond to.

Trolled. Good one Tibbs! Anybody up for matches today?

Was thinking more along the lines of meter management, major raw tag punishes, crazy good block strings, high damage combos that lead to resets…
Or you could say I’m just learning the game XD
Like Cody said, you can’t combo off of his dive kick, I think it’s gonna be used as a run-away tool, that thing can take you nearly full screen
