I have terrible news, guys… Asuka is… so bad. :frowning: I thought maybe it was me, thought maybe I just wasn’t playing her right. HEY CAPCOM, THANKS FOR MAKING A CHARACTER THAT IS ONLY PLAYABLE WHEN YOU MAKE READS THE ENTIRE MATCH. You couldn’t have given her one good poke? NOT FUCKING ONE? God damn, I’m so mad right now.

Anyways, GGs, Matt. I blame those 17 losses on Asuka, even when she wasn’t being played. Also, it looks like I’m out a character for a bit. Nina was on my team day one, but god damn I can’t find a character that fits me.

Lol, she was low/mid-tier in Tekken 6 too. The good news is that it’s early so there’s plenty of time to switch characters. At least your first two picks weren’t Bob and Kuma.

Well… It’s a varied game. If Asuka doesn’t play how you want to play the game, pick a different character, yo. Don’t blame it on the game. Asuka is meant for up close battle. Obviously she’s gonna suck from afar. It’s a big ass cast. I’m sure there are some characters that suit you.

Asuka is actually pretty solid from what I have seen she has not meter 400 damage combos and is up with the best of them with tag exchange combos as far as damage goes. Nina is great for her as well because nina has godlike tools to get in and amazing pressure strings (which you don’t use). You need to get in there face with that down forward lk into flash kicks which can confirm into around a 400 damage combo really easy. Jump RH is a good cross up so is mp I liked Nina a lot and I may go back to her at some point but I am trying to work in a lot of different characters atm.

The thing I am liking a lot about this game right now is a lot of characters can be made to work because of the team aspect. For instance lets use Asuka ya she doesn’t have the best tools to get in, but nina can get in for her and get a combo that does a lot of damage and surprise she is up close and in her element. I mean maybe its her style that you don’t like but she is not a bad character at least I don’t believe so. I would say the only few that are an uphill battle from my observations (which is not including the entire cast only ones i have played) is Yoshi and Kuma.

It’s not that she has bad combos or a bad playstyle. It’s that EVERY single normal she has will be beaten by every normal anyone else on the cast has. If you’re patient and can confirm the overhead into her 300 damage BnB she’s alright, but her mixups are not strong enough in my opinion to make up for her lack of footsies. If she had one decent poke, I’d play the shit out of her, but she doesn’t. Nearly all of her moves have extremely short range or have horrendous startup combined with the fact they move her forward, which should be a good thing but until you really give her a shot, you won’t understand what I mean.

It’s definitely too early to have solid opinions formed on any characters just yet. There’s lots of tech to be discovered and figured out. Like Jeff said, she may not match your playstyle.

As for Kuma, I like him, but I’m gonna speculate that he will be a low tier character. He’s super slow and has some really sub-par tools to work with and a lot of his unique moves (read: Tekken style macro combos) are unsafe, making his options very risky to use.

Mix ups are not as big in this game because of the forward roll imo. So her lack of them isn’t that big of a deal although I actually thing she does have mix ups. Its fine that you don’t want to play her, but I think calling her bad is misinformation.

Asuka’s one of the Tekken characters I’ve been fooling around with. I honestly think she’s perfect to learn the overall aspect of this game.

I’m in the same boat, so I feel your pain. Honestly, the best advice I can give you is focus on one game. I’d love to play BlazBlue, SC5, and KOF with everyone, but I don’t have the time to invest in all those different systems and data. I’m just going to dissect SFXT the best I can and see what comes of it.

My main games are UMvC3 and SFxT, but I’ve had a large amount of time with other games in the past to be able to enter practically everything at EVO and play decent. I haven’t touched SC5, MK9, or Blazblue in months, however, I can play them. It seems my strategy is to buy a game, grind it out like hell for a week or two, then go back to my main game and never touch it again, lol. Not the best investment money-wise, but hey. I can see why people are making a fuss, nobody can humanly juggle all these current gen fighting games unless you’re Chris G or something.

From what you’ve told me Dragoomba, the only thing you even play anymore is fighters so I’m not super surprised at you owning ALL of them lol.

Right now I’m kinda up in the air on fighters. There’s a ton to pick from. As much as I bitch about Marvel (or well, everything), there’s still a lot about the game I do like and I can always find games for it. When I went to play SFxT online, it was choppy and there were very few people on. One page of open lobbies for endless battle four days after release…really? I also had a WTF moment when I knocked down Ogre and the game went from him being on the ground to him to meteor smashing right behind me.

There’s not only sound issues, but really annoying stuff like this in the gameplay itself.
Had that happen to me as well during 1 match, where Juri kept going from walking, to in my face dive-kicking. Also even after I had just knocked her down, no tech animation, no roll animation, no jump animation. Since then, I started playing strictly full bars.
