The HYPER FIGHTING Thread

I’m going to be in the OC (Irvine area) this weekend, If anyone wants to get down on some SF2Turbo HyperFighting I would gladly meet up. It’s always fun playing good competition.

The only place i know so far is the D&B’s at the Irvine spectrum but i can always go anywhere. I’m basically looking for competetion post up if you wanna play this weekend somewhere,.

I can come down tomorrow around 6:30-7:00. I actually have to get dropped off because I commute, so I better not be there playing against the computer :).

Cool. I’ll see you then.
Depending on the traffic situation, I’d probably be there 6:40-7:00 ish.

Everyone else: feel free to drop by.

Maybe I’ll charge up the camecorder and get some matches recorded.

It’s an old cabinet that was used for Sf2’ I got for about $100, later on I got another cabinet that Capcom used for most of their Cps2/Naomi stuff (the tall blue ones that camelot has a few of) that currently has A3 sitting in it. I Finally have some money to throw at it to get all 3 fixed.

We should play some AE, I’ve been frequent to AI lately since they upgraded to IIDX Gold.

R/C and Ken-I’ll see if I can make it. Yeah I pretty much play for fun, I love the game and always play to get better, but the more I play, the more I realize the skill level between OGs aka 27-28 year olds and up and new school players who like old games like me is too great, plus they run tourneys for ST not HF.

What’s up Andy?

count me in, i’ll stop by to give some ryu lessions as well.

Montebello Laundry Mat (paramount and arroyo):

It definitely has HF: Laundry Mat edition. It was totally pimped out with the whole laundry mat theme. The usual slots to insert quarters was blocked off. Instead, it’s to the left of the machine (an extension) that looks just like those laundry machine coin dispensers. You put your quarter lying flat down on it, push in, pull out. It felt like getting a free game of HF for each load of laundry. It definetely had that whole laundry mat theme going on. Even the hi-score on the machine was “MAT.”

-Screen is all blue. Glare is blinding.
-Can barely see Dhalsim’s projectile let alone the characters.
-Life bar is very hard to see.
-Maybe visable in the evening?
-Sticks and buttons are surprisingly in good shape
-Disguised in a Marvel cabinet

lol, yeah, too bad the screen broke. when i played there a few months back everything was perfect. but far as i can tell player one side worked fine.

It’s just that the O.G’s know all the tricks from playing during the street fighter era, which is pretty much before the big internet days where people lined their quarters up to play a game. You don’t get that kind of atmosphere nowadays. It kinda died after hyper. It’s still surprised me how much more I can still learn from this game.

im pretty positive this machine is happ competition stick and NOT a p360

Cool, thanks for the info

Ken, I’ll see you there later today.
I’ll be there before you ; I work half days on Thurs.
I’ll probably be on the 3s machine (blue/white strip shirt, glasses)

what’s your name bro? I have a black and gray shirt today. I think my friends will be coming a bit later.

Ronnie.

good stuff today RC, good games. it feels good to play other players other then my neighbor all day. lol. maybe we can get some AE games next time at someones house so we don’t have to drive all far.

Sup mike, great games yesterday with you and ken; it was good practice for my Zangief.

I don’t mind getting in a few games for AE, but I personally have a lot more fun playing HF.

Here’s the website for evo:

It looks like they’re having ST, not AE. If you guys plan on competing, I suggest you pick up Capcom Classics Collection 2 to practice on. I believe that’s what they’ll be using for competition (?). Or you can try to find some AE side tournament - good luck with that though.

Let me know if you wanna get some 3s practice mike. I’m still learning that game too.

Some videos for fun:

Anyone up for some HF tonight 7-9pm at Cal Poly?

Ken, msdos, and I might go.

Laundry mat Hyper fighting machine finally working properly. Anyone down for a laundry mat tourney???

I checked out the machine, it’s pretty awesome considering that it’s in a laundry mat (2 mins away from Montebello Mall).

I’d be down to run regular tournies with match recordings.

Watson: Interested in getting that gas money?
