Well, I don’t have any spoiler knowledge so I don’t mind guessing: Kurapica. Too close to fulfilling his ultimate goals, and he just was sort of implied to be on Pariston’s radar.
(Crap. I missed at least one chapter in 543. I might have missed chapter 542 as well. Anyone have a link to a site that has more than just the last couple of chapters?)
I’ll agree that this has been the best chapter so far, especially since we finally know the names of all the Zodiac now and what they actually do. I don’t think we learned all of them before the hiatus even with the voting sub-arc during the Alluka Arc; we only learned like…half of them, didn’t we? That said, I have to wonder what a “Trouble Hunter” actually is given that’s what Saccho apparently is.
Of everyone, I find it funny how the Rooster Zodiac, Cluck (ha), is apparently the one who I have the most in-common with motivation-wise even though she’s arguably the most ridiculous Zodiac on a surface level, especially since roosters can only be male. Of course Geru, the Snake Zodiac, who I already liked the most is the Coroner though.
Ha. All this makes me do is imagine that Netero discovered Kegel exercises in this universe, especially given that he “hired” Pariston over the objection of everyone else.
Same. When it comes to the upcoming fight (read: slaughter), if we see any of it on-panel, then the only thing I’m expecting to find interesting is to see if Pariston tries to make a move to eliminate Ging already since Pariston has decided he hates him.
When and where did Togashi say this?
Is he though? His seal on Kuroro is probably going to get undone by that black guy–Abegen?–that “Phantom Troupe” found on Greed Island soon if it hasn’t already and unless Hisoka manages to kill Kuroro, they’re probably going to become more of an active problem again. Similarly, unless it was stated in the past couple of chapters that I missed, have we been told that the eyes in the Prince’s possession are the last pair of eyes that Kurapika needs to recover?
On top of that, it’s pretty arguable what Togashi means by main characters. Does he mean main characters of this arc? Main characters overall? Main characters from the beginning? Because, at present, Kurapika qualifies for two of those at most, which increases his chances I suppose, but he’s been conspicuously absent the most of the main four. Then again, this wouldn’t be the first time Togashi brought back someone just to kill them off, like he did with Pokkle & Ponzu during the Chimera Arc and coin butler–ugh, what was his name–during the Alluka Arc and killing off Kurapika would “solve” the problem of his being eternally on the periphery. Then again, you could say the same thing for Leorio…
That said, as for being on Pariston’s radar, if anything, that makes me think he’s less likely to die since despite Pariston showing he’s willing to kill people who get in his way, he enjoys the challenge of things and pissing people off way too much to just off Kurapika like that. If Kurapika ends up biting it, then I doubt it will be Pariston that does it, at least intentionally unless Kurapika bored him or didn’t live up this expectations or, as with Ging, Pariston grew to hate him as well, though outright hate seems surprisingly out-of-character for Pariston given his own admission about Ging.
We were told there names before the voting arc but we didn’t know what they did.

My mistake, the interview was late last year, not recently, and he said exactly who was going to die. So I assume this person will die during the current arc.
Damn, Part of me thinks Togashi is joking, but then again, I wouldn’t put it past him to kill ??? off. Doin it this arc would be weird tho, lot of unresolved issues
It probably is a joke, it currently seems unlikely because someone else needs to be in this arc in order for that person to die.
Chrollo Lucifer: unique top-tier ability to steal your powers after elaborate conditions met.
Ging: able to copy your powers after just thinking about how they work, probably not even his special ability. Oh yeah, he can use them better than you can too.
Also, what do you think the chances are at this point that Ging has some special ability that requires as a condition someone to have freely accepted money from him? Doesn’t seem like his style, but the way the money keeps getting harped on makes me wonder.
Ging is just a nen master plain and simple. He could probably utilize all of the nen tree outside of specialist up to 90%
Now we see why they call Ging one of the top 5 Nen users in the world. He understood Leorio’s ability completely, from how it functions to how Leorio would psychologically develop it. That’s pretty damn impressive.
Pariston’s trying so HARD to get one over Ging, and Ging keeps making him look stupid.
EDIT: Today’s anime episode was great.
Rewatching the anime series and I’m at the Phantom Troupe arc with the auction house. I can’t help but think that girl with the future sight power is such a spoiled bitch. She didn’t even care when the people that worked for her were killed. Instead she asked if they had the mummy.
^
Ah, that Neon Nostrade right? She’s probably spoiled because her father’s busy with business and relies on her predictions, so he just gave her stuff to make her happy instead of any kind of real love. She’s kinda like a creepy messed up spoiled child IMO; she doesn’t really have the maturity to emphasize or care about others. Though, she likes using her predictions because they bring happiness to people.
Speaking on the whole Nen thing and watching what ging just did reminds me.
While I was re-reading the series, it seems as though reinforcement types don’t have anythoing special really - am I wrong? I mean I look at Gon and all he dd was punch hard or throw a random hadoken, there were no conditions or anything special. am I missing something?
- :bluu:
Well, how many Reinforcement types do we know?
For Gon, we know:
- Rock Paper Scissors is strongest when it’s telegraphed
- He buffs specific parts of his body
- He could go super saiyan by sacrificing himself
For Ubogin
- Seems to have a massive amount of passives in place (super tank damage, but not immune to status effects aka those poison leeches), and can amplify physical things (ala his shout)
- Unlike Gon, seems to just have an overall armour/aura in place? Though it wasn’t fleshed out back then, so maybe that’s just how it comes across with lack of info
- Is his samurai partner a Reinforcement user too? Not sure
For Kurapika with haX-Factor
- Can use Reinforcement to heal, iirc. Maybe Reinforcement + something else?
Basically, it looks like Reinforcement seems to be some sort of self-buff, and different people can get different uses out of what they buff. The Hadouken was mainly Emission wasn’t it?
EDIT: Forgot about the guy that got wasted by Hisoka in the tower. He wasted his ability, but if he had focused more on his best technique, he might have gotten a consistent one hit kill skill - as it was, it was only high damage.
Well I guess my thing is, yeah it seems like some kkind of ‘self-buff’ if you will, but I look at someone high up the Nen-food chain like Ging, he should be able to emulate Rock-Paper-Scissors because its nothing but a basic nen release with ‘bluff’ built in - thats not really a condition, more of a battle tactic.
And I guess I’m getting to all this because I wonder if Gon has a future power-up via ‘THIS is really his power’. Not quite Ichigo, more like Yumichika from Bleach…though not on purpose if that makes sense.
- :bluu:
No, he “got” the bluff later on, around his time of fighting Knuckle.
The reason he HAS to RPS is because him proclaiming it as a special attack gives him a boost. Remember, it only worked as a bluff because after he activates it, Nen builds up a LOT in his fist and Knuckle freaked out and prayed that he would get hit in the gut instead of a place that would kill him.
Speaking of Kurapika, Emperor Time is really stupid lol. If he wasn’t so hell bent on revenge and reclaiming his clan’s eyes, you could just send the guy to Biscuit for a good couple of years and he’d be godlike. Wonder how much his abilities have improved since last time…
Enhancement by itself is pretty basic. Because they’re mostly about boosting themselves up/boosting objects and hitting really, really hard, they can still be a threat with basic to advanced Nen techniques, since a good amount of them revolve around boosting yourself and objects anyway (in fact, Gon and Uvo’s best techniques are more or less just souped-up Ko punches). But like Darkstalker said, people can get creative with them (like healing and enhancing your voice) and/or mix in other Nen types to complete an ability, just like how Gon’s ability comes in 3 parts of Nen types.
Gon’s Rock-Paper-Scissors will probably get stronger (his Paper Emission and Scissors Transmutation are lacking and Gon’s still a kid) but other than that, I’ll believe it’ll be mostly the same and Gon will get more creative with it. Would be cool to see him get a new technique, but I’m fine with him pretty much.
Apparently, (according to a databook) Netero’s supposed to be an Enhancer. Youpi’s also an Enhancer.
Was it ever stated that the amount of Nen had anything to do with a condition and wasn’t just him focusing his absurd amount of Nen because he’s…the main character?
And I’m not questioning you - sincerely asking.
- :bluu:
So what exactly have been the 3 most shocking moments of HxH so far?
For me, in no particular order: Netero losing to the ant king and sacrificing his life to save the world, the introduction of Beyond, and Pitou carrying Kite’s decapitated head… Gons transformation before his fight with Pitou wasn’t that shocking for me.
I believe the reason why Gon didn’t die after his fight with Pitou has a lot to do with Ging’s Nen which we dont know that much about yet.
