God the difference between a good shoto and a bad shoto has never been more apparent than playing Hugo in this game. I feel like against a solid Ryu/Ken I’m eternally under pressure and guessing crossups (usually wrong because I’m extra double super trash). It is so hard to get out and get a chance to go on the offensive against solid shotos. The nerfs will help I guess.
Of course for every Ryu/Ken/Akuma that knows what they’re doing there are about four trying to throw full screen Shinku Hadoukens and endlessly jumping from a thousand miles away into backbreakers.
Are you talking about the ultra throw that is hcb kicks? If so, it’s his best throw as it leads to most damage. If the opponent is about to get thrown by a Moonsault press, he will also get hit by the ultra throw as it’s only a few frames slower (most of the time).
Ex version gives more range I think. If you need an invulnerable wakeup you use ex moonsault though
Yeah that one, I wrote punch, instead of kick. I always get jabbed out of it. I can only land the EX sometimes, which is still a good bargain . Isn’t Moonsault Press’s range bad already anyway, this just goes through the enemy if I don’t get jabbed. How often do you use it and land it?
I use it when I feel like the opponent is waiting for a clap to alpha counter or a jump splash from point blank. I lend it pretty often during matches:)
You probably don’t remember it, but we played some weeks ago and you annihilated me with Hugo/Sim (I think), characters I want to be good with. Could you give me some advice how to get good at this game, except for practicing combos in training mode and watching gameplay videos? I really started to have fun with this game but I get beat too often by players I think I should be able to beat.
You’re probably right. I try to normal throw too often, not with Hugo, but with the other characters. I have to hit training mode and try to figure out the moves of all the characters so I know how to block… I hate it when I get hit by an overhead and comboed into oblivion just because i’ve been too lazy to find out where a move hits.
If you have meter and your opponent is in the corner Hugo is still a beast. Playing Law on point, I almost always have one meter when I tag Hugo in. Also both have relatively safe options to tag the other character in.
The main problem I still face is when I get rushed down with Hugo. EX Moonsault is a very good option, but you better make something out of that knockdown because when you have no more meter life becomes difficult. Otherwise you just block, block, block and get thrown.
