The Hugo Thread

its either -3 or -4 on block. ryu cant ex dp (5 start up) it but he can regular dp (3 start up).

They are all -7. Ex is -3

Ryu EX dp probably is out of range for the first hits to connect.

That’s like complaining that every move is unblockable because I don’t like to block.

Lariat is not safe on block, period.

Ryu has 5 frame start up on ex dp.

Complain that a move is safe then say you don’t use short? WTF?

Anyway you beat Hugo in two way. One is to stay far away and never jump. The other is to be in his face and jump a lot. Hugo has no answer for cross ups. Dont be afraid to eat some ex back breakers to drain his meter either.

Anyone else finding that chaining his crouching jab is really inconsistent? Sometimes it seems to miss an input every few presses. ???

Hugo can deal with cross ups fine. Just 360 or clothesline out.

I know that you can mash st.LP and magic will make it chain 100% of the time.

I got a surprise when I “turboed” my LP button and tried cr.LP chain. On turbo it looks as good as SF4 Balrog’s cr.LP…

my testing has shown it the other way around. like if i do cr L and it hits, there is too much hit stun for backbreaker to come out.

That doesn’t make sense. If the c.lk hits, it will cancel into the back breaker no matter what if you input it correctly

every time i lose with hugo it’s just annoying…somebody online even predicted he would sweep me before the match started and i didn’t win a single round…His Heihachi/king team decimated poison/hugo…i didn’t stand a chance

how do you guys handle being in that jump vortex where every time the cross you up with a quick few jabs and then jump and got for a cross up…

EX Backbreaker always catches these jumps. Depending on your positioning you can also use HK Backbreaker to run away.

But when I mash it it won’t chain. If I stick it on turbo it will though.

The standing LP is easy to mash…just press as fast as you can and there should not be any problems.

Crouching LP is not possible without turbo IMO.

In both case, it makes me wonder how exactly the chain system works in that game. In SF4, mashing normals did not make them to chain nor turboing them.

Hey, I have a question for you guys… If you start off a combo by using Lariat, how in the world can you do a jumping back breaker after a clap if you aren’t in the corner? I have been seeing people doing these on streams and whatnot and can’t seem to grasp out. I try Lariat - cL - Lclap - back breaker and every time I clap them they are sent way too far away to be caught by breaker, and what seems to be too fast, any help would be appreciated

you use mk backbreaker

you hit the c.lp/s.lp/s.lk really early so they are higher in the air.

cr.LP as soon as possible xx lp palm, during the lp palm you do the dp motion and keep holding the last input (down-forward) and just mash MK (or LK if opponent is cornered).
It’s what I did in SFIV to HP Shoryuken after Akuma’s LK Tatsumaki for instance. As long as you hold the down-back the game will still understand that you want to shoryuken, even tho you already made the motion like 1 second before.

Hugo Mania’s Running Wild! so how is everyone doing with the monster?
