The how to mod your SFIV SE Fightstick FAQ

Do it.

Ok I replaced the madcatz stick and with the JLF and it was super easy. Now for the buttons, I know the FAQ says to use OBSF buttons but would OBSN ones work? Whats the difference between OBSF and OBSN buttons?

Get OBSF. OBSN are screw in buttons and have a nut. With the OBSN 30, You will run into problems with the LK button because the screw in nut will be blocked by the joystick mounting plate. It is possible if you use a seimitsu nut or of you are willing to dremel your sanwa nut, but it is not worth the trouble. The nuts sometimes tend to unscrew themselves after a few weeks and you might have to open up the stick everyfew months to re-tighten.

hi guys I have a problem. I recently bought a used fightstick se off ebay and modded it with sanwa buttons and a sanwa joystick. I plugged it in after I was done but the joystick would only register down, and it would register down right as jump. All other directions didnt register, but the buttons work fine. Could somebody please help!! I just spent a lot of christmas money getting all this stuff and even though im a first time modder, I think i did everything right. Also, i plugged in the stick before i modded it, and it seemed to have the same problem. Please help!!

You may have put the joystick harness in upside down?

my cord is split at the top of the stick from wrapping the wire around it when im putting it away. the wires are showing and its causing a shortage. any ideas on how to fix?

Replacing the buttons on my SE has not been a good experience. Paradise Arcade delayed my order by nearly a month. Then today I finally got the buttons but they were a pain in the ass to install. The buttons were not a perfect fit for the holes. I had to force the buttons into place. The artwork around some of the buttons is damaged(having to force the buttons in caused air bubbles in the artwork).

And now it looks like the buttons are permanently stuck. I tried to remove the buttons to see if there was anything I could do to repair the artwork but they won’t budge.

Has anyone experienced this? I don’t understand why I struggled so much to force the buttons into place. I used Sanwa OBSF-30 buttons.

Here is a picture of the damage to the artwork taken with my webcam. The quality is bad but you can still make out the damage. It’s the white discoloration around the buttons.

Is your artwork cut correctly on the holes (meaning not a tad bit small(? More often than not, I find that’s the problem. If not, then there’s not much you can do except maybe push in and loosen the snaps on new buttons.

Thank you! That was the problem and it works great now

No problem. Good luck with the rest of your modding!

If I am understanding the situation, like Galthrojh mentioned, were you holes cut too small? I’m assuming your graphic is a custom laminated label as well isn’t it because the discoloration may actually be the laminate and the label separating from the force of the buttons when installed. Long term wise, it should effect graphic since the gap between the buttons isn’t too far and the buttons themselves ā€œsealā€ anything from going in between the graphic…Unfortunately that’s permanent unless you replace the graphic…or able to get super thin glue in between the two but then again, glue tends to discolor ink and whatnot.

For future reference, when cutting out holes on the graphic, it’s easier and cleaner to apply the graphic over the top panel and have an exacto knife go along the holes of the top panel. When going along metal on metal(blade to top panel), chances of something getting damaged/dull is your exacto knife before the top panel so no worries plus it should cut along the outline like silk:

This is a general method I’ve used since 2009 when I started doing commissions and personal art and it has worked perfectly.

It was the default Street Fighter artwork. I didn’t change anything on my SE except for the buttons.

Quick question. What’s the stock artwork on the TvC SE printed on? It’s got a lot nicer feel than what came on my Brawlstick.

Maybe it’s surface wear, if you can wipe it off the it’s in there for good.

I think it’s more or less a sticker, where I goto for casuals had two tri-modded TvC sticks, the graphic didn’t last long before they started warping.

Tri modded? Wiips3xbox? And gotcha. I was wondering how it’d hold up. I’ll stick with lami-label then  Thanks!

Yup, most of Mad Catz stuff are generally plastics with double sided tape, the TvC graphic was peeling and wearing like a sticker which usually starts from the bottom corners.

Will the Seimitsu LS-33 mount properly inside the brawl casing? I’m not worried about the microswitches it uses as I will be using a MC Cthulu.

Just wanted to say thank you to the OP who posted this. I just switched out my stock stick for my new Sanwa using this FAQ. It was very useful. Thanks a lot!

Hi Sileighty! I know I’m a bit late to the party but can you re-upload the pics on the original post pretty please? I’ve just got a WWE Brawlstick and it’s gonna be my first mod, so I’m a bit nervous and would appreciate any extra help.

WISE FWOM YOUR GWAVE

Has anyone figured out a better way to put a Cthulhu in a 360 SE outside of placing it atop the turbo panel?

I find that to be a very shitty way to do so. I was wanting to place it off to the side near the buttons, but right now, I’m running into a problem where the PCB feet are too tall, and causes it to be pushed up by the buttons to the point where you can’t replace the bottom panel.

Is there another place to throw this in then?
