The Hori PS4 VLX thread

thanks for turning me on to those! they look sick! saw some AlpineTech Anti-Vandalswitches on Amazon. is this to what you were referring? if so, please consider this my vote!

some plain black button that blends into the background is of course acceptable… but I am curious how a little stainless bling would look there!

I see there are led versions of those. But there are six pins on the bottom. Anyone know if its possible to wire those up with the led lit up?

Yeah those, I think they come with little prongs for QD’s on the other side too.
@hibachifinal used them before and they look really good.

Vandal Switch with QD and Shallow Depth

These are also pretty awesome.

Yeah I’d probably get the flat ones, if I can find them cheap enough in Canada, possibly hardware stores should carry them or automotive stores?
They look way nicer than those SDM-18s imo

Yeah but they are smaller than .110 so I had to solder, if you dont wanna do that try what Jasen suggested and get ones with screw terminals, its way more convenient.

the only issue with the black ones is some are painted, they tend to flake out eventually, be careful and read the description, look for anonized black ones.

My vote for white. would the kit include the wires if you can’t use .110 with the buttons included with the kit?

The sega lindbergh design looks perfect on the black vlx. Great choice. I was going to try the New net city design on my mine (black and grey also) but changed my mind. Maybe Ill get it when/if I get another vlx.

I had that same button and ball combination sitting in the little egg-crate thingies that they come in for over 3-years now AND for use on my Lindbergh panel! I’m still gonna do it someday, just not soon.

Looks good.

I just got word back from one of the manufacturers I use occasionally for miscellaneous hardware. For about $18 a set (4 buttons) I can get black anodized buttons (19mm) etched with text on them.

PS / L3 / R3 / TURBO

Here’s the swtich:

I think these would be sweet to use on the alt panel. Thoughts?

though I initially liked the idea, it just may lead to some confusion if we actually etch names in the buttons.

I like the button itself. I don’t know about the choice of buttons for everyone in their setups but for me I don’t have L3, R3, or turbo button functionality.

GGXRD pad and PS360+ and Crossbone tri-pcb mod in my case.

indeed there may be a fair amount of people who are doing this modification that have already done pcb mods too. Also, you have a panel coming out to help with dual mods.

The PS button and Share buttons would work for me. and maybe I could wire up a 3rd to be my Start+Select as a pseudo “Home” button for the PS360+? and maybe the 4th as Start button? this would allow me to remove the Start/Options button from the main panel and put in the alt panel so as to avoid any accidental mid-game pausing (which did happen to me at EVO last year).

alternatively, is there some slick way to add a labeling area under the buttons? maybe we could use a P-Touch or something?

Its not make or break for me, just some thoughts.

THANKS JASEN!

Would you be able to offer other button colors. I might be interested in something other than black.

$18 for a set is a good price. I was looking at prices for other vandal switches and some of the prices for a single button are pretty high. My color preference would be to match the color of the panel, if possible.

I like them, seems like a good deal for 4 buttons and a panel can you use .110 quick disconnects with those?

what i’m using for now “ghetto” turbo panel made of cardboard, 24mm buttons, electrical tape and a Mcguyver mind set.

I would be down for a hitbox panel as well. I don’t want art though. Are they stainless? id love for a raw or brushed look.

Decided i’d give the VLX turbo panel block-off a go since I’m turning this VLX into a Sega Saturn only stick.

Made it out of 2-pieces of military grade alloy that i will later glue together and paint black. The top pieces is 3mm thick so that its flush with the top of the original plastic.

In green primer…

Finally decided to pick up a Kowal Universal plate so I could roll oldskool Vew(iL)x.
Never been a fan of Happ/iL dustcovers since they’re huge, so I once again filed down a smaller one.
Feels good to have the contrast with my billion other Sanwa sticks.

@rygod and @kubebot how much room is there on the bottom of your USA sticks and the base of the VLX? Room for one starburst or three stacked up sticks of gum?

Do you think a MAS Opticon or WICO Perfect360 will fit?

@kubebot - FYI the Paradise plate is a bit cheaper and a bit more versatile as well. Just for future reference.
