Hiro - Get equipped with Time Stopper!
Once again, I must continue supporting this series by tuning in each Monday night!
Seems it takes some time to recover from extreme injury, I don’t know. The moment she pulled that branch out, she seemed better… but then again, she is cut wide open. She was on an autopsy table, I wouldn’t question the length of the coma too much, just seems to be artistic licence to move the plot forward.
Nah its the “mysterious man” in the imdb credits. Another candidate for who is “Sylar”.
I think Claire’s “emo-ness” is part of the character’s personality not necessarily completely due to the motivation of discovering powers but moreso the author’s decision to make an ironically nearly indestructible character physically yet emotionally fragile.
I’m guessing her powers work like this.
If there some foreign object jutting from her, it’s impossible for her to heal herself since her body can’t just heal around it. So even after she wakes up on the table, she’ll have to pull the skin on her chest to sort of close herself back up.
She’s pretty damn invincible though.
So Sylar is a telekentic. CONFIRMED. Now just to find out if he really has ice powers too. But damn is Sylar scary as hell. The way he almost killed the FBI chick was spooky.
EDIT: Is there a way for people to keep the IMDB and 9th Wonder forum spoilers out of this thread?
look @ wikipedia shit on heroes for crazy spoilers. 0_0
The show has really gotten much better.
Hiro’s arc: B
Cop’s arc: C+
Other arcs: F (still. They need to drop all these useless people)
Here’s what I don’t understand, though: I understand that Hiro’s comic book changes to reflect his changing the future/his past, but how can it change when he follows it to the letter? It seems like the book is changing the future by itself and simpy using Hiro as a catalyst for it. Unless Hiro actually deviates his plan from the comic, which also changes to reflect his deviance, thereby showing it as compliance…which then becomes deviance and then compliance again, repeatedly. Time paradox.
Anyway, I also enjoyed the clever product placement in this episode. “Nissan Versa! Nissan Versa!”
Nissan Versa, Ipods…
there’s product placement everywhere.
This Sylar character is bad ass. Telekinesis, regeneration/healing abilities, and superspeed or flight??
Perhaps he is a power absorber and gains powers by eating peoples brains?? I dunno.
This show rocks.
claire officially annoys the fucking shit out of me…the previews from next week really make it look like they are treating her powers with some comic relief. sylar is brokeness, now the question is, what does he want with that little girl? just because she is a witness? i dunno…as much as i pride myself on liking quality writing and good plots, i’m still wrapped up in this. i can’t wait for each week and i don’t want it spoiled. i guess i’m filling the 24 gap until then.
ps - could million just start telling us when someone doesn’t make him want to drop pants at any given moment and beat off? i have yet to hear him talk about someone on a show that he doesn’t want to stalk…
edit: i agree that sylars power lies in taking others…
at the start of this school year our teacher made us do like a little small free write on " If we could choose 1 super hero power what it would be" I chose to control time then what do you know they come out with a show call “Heros” a few weeks after and Hiro who control time is broken as hell… haha
Still a little iffy on the other characters i think Hiro and cheerleader can stay but i don’t even watch the other characters i just find it boring lol
How was Claire able to pull the stick out of her neck?
At first I though the medical examiner, but since no one was there when she came to, she must have done… but how?
The teaser for next week’s episode makes me think that every “hero” (except, probably, for Hiro) is going to be killed and then revived through chronokinesis (yes, I just made that term up, but I like it). If Sylar is a power absorber who can somehow retain all the powers he steals throughout the bend in space-time, then that could shed light on what types of powers he has (basically every main character’s).
It actually looks like Claire is going to crossover to the ‘darkside’ and kill the QB that tried to rape/kill her.
Anyone else thinking Nikki’s alter set up her husband and may have killed him? That or he is Sylar.
I agree with Septimus Prime, Hiro has the best plot/powers so far in the story. Followed by the mind reading cop, everyone else has potential but they aren’t really using it well.
The NY based flying brothers and druggie artist are just stupid and should be cut.
Nah, druggie artist is crucial to plot. Without him, Hiro would be a tard running around in circles. Flying guy has potential, but is hella weak right now. They need to beef up the flying CG, it just looks stupid.
This show impresses me less and less each week. If it wasn’t for MNF coming on before it, I simply would not watch at all. Even with MNF, one wonders how much longer this can keep my attention. I can just read comic books or manga to see powers executed much better. Most of the characters suck, invincible girl’s character is just mind numbingly retarded, and the flying gay is just gay. Larter’s character seems pointless so far. Only Hiro really has a decent story, and it looks like he is more comical than anything else. The best character is the Indian guy, and he doesn’t even have powers! He’s the only one that shows any semblance of character development and likability (Hiro is too much of a doofus for me to take seriously, and he is too broken).
If that was Sylar, he sure looked stupid, and why is he also invincible? They screwed up a lot in power selection. Cheer leader girl almost getting raped is kinda funny. She tries to be all emo on having powers, but then she goes and twitters about like an idiot and then gets uptight. I guess it’s realistic writing for women, but c’mon, even I want to see some intelligence out of female characters sometimes. I thought she was all emo on having powers because she was some deep philosophical character, but she turns out to just be dumb. If she instead spent time with nerdy guy, I’d have been more impressed with the character.
Theres a funny commentary on American women that was probably unintentional. When the girl brings food for the Indian guy, she goes “this is what people in America eat, macaroni and cheese.” Wtf, that’s a freaking side dish, who eats that for dinner. Also, I’m pretty sure it’s primarily a children’s meal. Way to go american chick, prove your unsuitability in the domestic sphere!
Meh, I guess I’ll watch again next week. Hopefully not actually. But chances are I will have the TV on and choose to watch it after NFL Recap.
The torrent for the episode finally finished downloading.
I agree with Sep 90%.
But I rank Hiro as A, because he finally stopped time.
And Cop ranks as B because his wife has great titties.
And that symbol is pissing me off.
Also, these are the only characters whose story arcs continue to advance the plot. Every other character is filler, except for the Indian guy, who’s just boring.
The bad guy(s) don’t count because they only show up in protagonist story arcs anyway and don’t have story arcs of their own.
It doesn’t even have to do with advancing plot. I just like Hiro and that cop more than any of the other characters. No one likes Claire, one of the brothers is an asshole and the other is kinda… eh. The artist seems like he would be good, but he hasn’t done anything but coke, art and that black chick-- and he does all three way too seriously. Indian dude overacts while that chick with him underacts.
I probably like Hiro and the cop becuase they just accept that they have powers, and are like ‘cool’.
At least Claire should be getting more interesting. Hopefully Niki too. I consider those brothers a lost cause, and Indian dude is waiting for people to show up. I think the dude with the glasses is a good guy. Or FBI or something. It doesn’t make sense for him to just be fucking with other folk’s heads otherwise.
I think Sylar is just a psychic and an insane murderer. The stuff he has done so far can just be described as psychic stuff, with the exception of him following that little girl.
Some clarification on Claire.
She is a female, and apparently your typical average female teenager… and females on the average (not all obviously) have a VERY different view than do men, so fitting in is more important than being a freak (even if that freakishness is cool to some). Males on the other hand are all about sticking out, being the BEST at something and general competitiveness. This is why a male teenager would flaunt and brag about such powers.
Where as a female who wants nothing more than to fit in with the rest of her crowd and avoid the alienation that jealousy would create would not flaut such a thing. The obvious counter argument to this is the girl who’s pretending she saved the guy from the fire, she’s trying to stand out, but this is because she’s clearly not the recognized popular one that Claire already is. So that girl wants something that will make her cool and have all the friends that Claire has. Where as Claire, who already has them would likely lose them if she revealed her powers. Also if Claire took credit for saving the guy it would focus more on her powers that allowed it to happen than her bravery (very different things).
Also Claire was NOT the one who pulled the stick from her head on the autopsy table. That hand was gloved by a clean white glove. Claire had no gloves on. It was either a doctor who did it then walked away, or perhaps her foster father did it because he knows of her powers and then left so she wouldn’t know that he knew, or perhaps even Sylar pulled it away, since he is clearly hunting down people with powers, who’d also have a reason (and the ability) to leave quickly.
Kinda funny that Claire has ‘died’ twice in three episodes-- and both times were a direct result of something that the same boy did.
Anyway, what pisses me off with Claire is that she doesn’t seem to know what she wants. She complains about having her powers-- but then does stuff like recording fucking herself up. And jamming her fingers in garbage disposals. And running into fires.
