The HEROES thread

Why doesn’t Pixie’s powers work on Mr. Bennett? Does he have mutant powers of not being affected by other powers? Or did Mr. Clean have something to do with it? I saw Mr. Clean look agitated and shift uncomfortably when Pixie, Mr. Bennett, and Mr. Clean were all in the same room and Pixie told Mr. Bennett to let her go (mutant voice).

Mr. Clean blocked Pixies powers just like he blocked Psy-cop’s powers when they captured him.

Mr. Clean has to really concentrate in order to block someone’s powers and sometimes he can’t do it as PsyCop was able to grab the name “Claire” from Mr. Bennett’s mind.

So, Mr. Bennett = 100% homo sapien?

And Mr. Clean’s mutant power is power-blocking (for himself or protecting others)? Wow. Mr. Clean is top tier. Mr. Clean effectively can “de-power” someone for a short amount of time?

Bennett has no powers that we know of yet.

Mr. Clean’s powers seem to be mind-based. He can erase memories, can block Psycop’s mind reading and Pixie’s suggestive powers, however when they captured Nathan Petrelli… Nathan Petrelli escaped by flying away. No blocking there.

Mr.Clean gets owned by a regular human being who has slightly better fighting skills

Pixie gets owned by putting ear plugs

It seems Nathan WANTED to leave his car by instinct, and left his wife to get into the accident. The fact that it jump started his powers makes it more interesting of course, but clearly, this guy is going to be playing the role of a coward of some sort.

and Sylar is badass.

Yeah, I was pretty impressed by Sylar. Semi-believable motives, interesting power, and warped sense of destiny = villian.

Ok, so texas chick had a brain clot that was going to kill her. She had powers.

Telepathy guy went to see Sylar, and sylar says “I get it now… you’re broke!” after listening to the guys brain.

The 5 year old daughter died of “complications” that he says arose from her powers, and spurned this whole look into the “heroes”

So, is having a brain problem going to be the key point in who gets these super powers or what?

P.S. Hiro traveling back in time, giving her the book, and then having her not recognize him in the future was weird. The only explanation I can think of is that she DID recognize him, but didn’t want to let on that she knew him, because she knew what was going to happen anyway. She was awfully flirty and nice with him for being some random japanese stranger.

Yea I think Mr.Clean has some sort of power (but he’s been working with Bennett for awhile) OR Pixie’s power only works on other mutants.

No, the haitian stopped her powers. Matt can’t read the haitian’s mind either. Pixie’s power worked on her mom so I’m assuming it works on anyone.

Yo, Adam, clear out your PM box. Secret Santa stuff.

Oh, and the only way Haitian Phillipe has avoided PsyCop’s mind reading would be that he’s pulling a Batman and just not thinking about anything at all.

pimp willy - it’s telekinetic.

bshido - i’m sure it’s mr. clean having the powers. this episode shows pixie being corrupt and using her powers rectlessly. if her powers only worked on other mutants, she wouldn’t be able to do that. it’s impossible that every time she broke the law it happened to be against another mutant. also, when she tried to use her powers on mr. bennett and it failed, she had that confused and powerless look on her face. she had no idea what the hell was going on.

about the extent of mr. clean’s powers, maybe he sends out a type of mental wave that negates other airborn waves. so if you have a power that’s self inducing (claire’s healing, natha’s flying, etc) he has no effect on you. another thought i had was he has to really concentrate to mute other people’s powers and psycop and nathan surprised him, essentially breaking free from the power restraints.

Deathscythe: Done

Hiro got fucking JEWED. No white ass? Not even a kiss? Awww…

I’m still going to say Sylar eats peoples brains until they prove it false. Only because having someone eat brains is cool.

More lost pacing, and more stuff we already pretty much knew. This episode was the most interesting by far though.

Best characters in the show are hatian Leech, Peter, Hiro, Claire, and now Sylar. Psycop and Ikun are terribly boring. I want to stab myself when they are on, stab myself directly in the eyes.

Claire has to be extra clumsy, if she was coordinated we’d never get to see her powers in action. This is the direct reason why she is so top tier. We get to see her get ruined episode after episode in hilarious manners.

does anyone else find it ridiculously annoying that everyone has their own made-up nicknames for every character?

-I’d still like to know how exactly PoppaSuresh was able to find all these random people, with addresses and phone numbers and such. Dood is the ultimate collection agency.

-Mr. Bennet really wants Claire to not be involved with this mutant stuff (IE: get Claires name off PoppaSuresh’s list). I wonder if has anything to do with who her parents really were, or if he is just playing uber overprotective daddy.

-How did the Haitian dood randomly appear where Pixie was? How is he and Bennet able to track these mutants?

-PSYCOP is a telepath, but at this point can only use it to ‘listen’ in peoples brains. He does not have full control over it…beyond that, I think that Pixie’s powers aren’t just some kind of brain control, but may also have some kind of emotional control.

-I damn near cried when Googal was explaining to Hiro her condition… Hiro from a fans standpoint, is just too broken. Not only are his powers great, but they also invoke deep emotional stress. I like how the writers were able to convey limits to his powers.

-Claire, as we know, has regenerative powers. But, aside from just being clumsy, do you think she is naturally weaker as well? Not just because she is a young girl…but her mutation makes her more prone to have simple injuries do more harm, even though she can fix herself anyways?

-Did Ikin pull the trigger on DL?

-Is Linderman some kind of mutant as well?

I think she did. But D.L. can perform instant bullet removal surgery with his phasing abilities if needed.

i’ve missed a few eps, so i might have missed the answer to my question, but what is sylar’s power exactly?

i know Peter can mimic/absorb people’s powers and mr. clean can negate them, but what can sylar do? can he fix/build things super well, allowing him to take parts of people’s brains and put them into his own? because it seems like he stole brian whatever’s telekenisis…

also, does anyone else think that they saved the wrong cheerleader, that maybe clair wasn’t the one who was supposed to be saved?

Sylar went after the first cheerleader because he saw the newspaper clipping on the wall and assumed she was the one he wanted. Claire is still obviously the one that needs to be saved.

Not completely certain what Sylar’s initial powers were, but it’s implied that it has something to do with seeing and interpreting the inner structure and workings of objects or whatever which is what allowed him to fix watches easily, and now he’s just taking the brains of folks to add to his powers. Whether or not only he can do this, (i.e. if another person eats a hero’s brain would they also absorb that power?) is probably not known yet. And yeah, I do mention eating because it’s more fitting for how much a creepy guy Sylar is.

Sylar seems to have a knack for understanding how things work just by disecting them and opening them up and analyzing them. This applies to both mechanical (watches) and biological (people with powers) objects. He opens up the person’s brain, figures out how they are able to use their powers, and can adapt his own brain to do the same thing. This is just theory though. The other theory is that he eats peoples brains and gets their powers.

I think Claire was the right one. Claire was referred to as “the cheerleader” in the trailer from way back. I doubt the other cheerleader (Jackie) was important. My guess is that Claire has a big role in the upcoming apocalypse and it’s her that is going to save the world.
