Sorry, Rock Lee is a piss poor example. Naruto doesn’t have a character that reigns anything with pure talent. He loses against what? Neji, genius Byakugan users and one of the most powerful in his rank shown in the manga and Gaara. Nobody thinks Lee got shit on because he loses to those 2 guys and most likely will continue to lose to them on a consistent basis as well as others because the character’s fighting style is inherently faulty in a world where basically Bloodline techniques own everybody except other Bloodline techniques followed by genjutsus/summoning techniques and then ninjutsus. Pure Taijutsu fighters can’t win and them hyping up Gai as the future Rock Lee means nothing because he hasn’t beaten anybody other than nameless ninjas.
Woli is a nobody with no explained abilities. He’s a hack character that doesn’t even box. His style is called freedom and we’re being expected to buy that Ippo saying even though it might look like Woli can throw Flickers and Smashes, they’re both low level compared to the real thing, but they’re still quite impressive that he can do them naturally. Okay yeah, nobody throws a smash normally, it’s an awkward straight from an uppercut position that happened to break through peek-a-boo. Flickers also aren’t natural or else we wouldn’t have like less than a hand full of people in the world of fighting using them so fuck Woli.

I seriously can’t believe this shit has been going on for 10 years now. I know there are other mangas that are even longer, but Morikawa has no excuse with all of the different boxers that have come and gone through all this time.
