I know. I’m just saying. It’s not that Alfredo is weak, it’s that Ippo is strong enough to be #2 in the world. It wouldn’t surprise me if he was as good, if not better than prime Date right now.
Of course Prime Date got fucking thrashed, but at least he made Ricardo get serious, which I think Ippo can be capable of doing…if he’s able to evolve further in this match. His tactics to corner Alf to the ropes was really good.
It’s been implied all along that in terms of just boxing ability, Alfredo is now Ricardo’s equal. It’s his “bad habits” or whatever that held him back. We still haven’t seen what that entails yet.
It’s undoubtedly a temper issue, just a matter of how that manifests itself. Maybe it looks like he’s swinging wild like Martinez, but leaves more openings?
Ippo is the all powerful golden plot armor Japanese champion after all, so this foreigner will eventually show this bad habit of his and lose. But at least they’re making it look like he can hang up to that point.
I don’t know how I feel about this fight. I mean I like Ippo a lot, but I just don’t want him to win on some totally dumb, bs. If anything I guess I am finding it hard to believe that he is already at #2 level you know? I mean he has to be the luckiest boxers ever to take as much damage as he does and just be okay. I know Ippo will win this fight, I just hope that make it as epic as we all want.
Woli is going to be hanging over our heads again the instant another season of the anime is announced. Maybe they can just fly through it in a montage or something.
Woli could have been the Perfect Cell of the Ippo-verse. Flaunt that monkey see monkey do to copy some of the best tech used in previous fights and see how Ippo can clutch counter pick with his raw strength and coaches training.
Maybe they could build an anime intro all around the fight and keep it out of the actual series.
You know, I find it kind of strange that you guys continually complain about Ippo having this magical plot armor, while Takamura gets to destroy everyone he faces while fighting SEVERAL CLASSES below his natural fighting weight and no one really bats an eye.
