thanks so much for explaining it to me now I clearly understand what im doing wrong and the timing thing im starting to get the hang of it but its going to be somewhat difficult seeing that most of the cast has different timing for their wakeup.
It was mentioned by someone. In training, record 1 jump cycle, by holding up till he lands. replay it. Use the dummy to practice your wakeup meaty c.lp, by sweeping him 1st. If your timing is off he will jump. I look at their wakeups. When their legs begin to do the flip up, I get ready.
There are only a few late wakeup casts and early. Just have to delay or adjust the timing a little.
Actually, the cr.hk OS can be done in another way. 1 way is cr.lp, (cr.lp+cr.hk)
2nd = cr.lp, cr.hk , cr.lp (hk has not enough startup frame to come out as a link if u time it such that the 2 cr.lp links)
u do not need to plink this, just piano roll fast.
u can record the dummy backdashing and play with him in the corner with your OS, so u know if u are doing it right.
I’m sorry if this has been posted before, I searched for it but nothing came up and I went through the first 10 pages of this thread + the last one here and didn’t see it. I’m curious, what does his EX Run do? Like…the difference between the normal and EX.
Thanks.
EX run gives super armor.
What hatman said! Run through fireballs and slide. EX Run stop absorbs three hits then Ultra 2 FTW!
Thanks a lot, I appreciate it for the reply, (I just picked up Guy like…2 days ago and have not been playing the game long so I’m trying to learn as much as possible).
Gotta say EX run has given U2 so many uses… I use EX run in a variety of situations … against jumpins ,safe jumps , cross ups … its not something you should use often as throws beat it … but man when someone gets caught by EX run ->U2 … It definitely leaves a mark both in their heads and in the game…
what exactly would be the notation for tk ex neutral jump izuna?
Most guy players in AE use u1 from what Ive seen. In ssf4 it was the opposite. U2 is better now and much more useful with ex run, however, with the inputs being tighter, it has turned a lot of players away from it. Especially if you use pad <— I pretty much gave up on u2. If I can’t use it with as much consistency as ssf4, then its not useful to me. I think stick players dont have as much problem with this.
I’m a stick player (but my execution is kind of poor so take the following with a grain of salt) and I have a lot of difficulty landing U2 properly. Most of the time it’ll be a EX Hozanto that comes out. I’ve spotted my execution error, but it seems to remain even after practice. I’ve switched to U1 for online matches, but if I can master the EX Run Musou Renge, I’ll go back to U2.
For those who are curious, the error is that I often do not complete the second half-circle back motion, ending at down-back rather than back. Any tips on correcting this would be appreciated.
There is sort of a shortcut, U2 will execute upon =

X2 and ppp
the

can be excluded. but make sure u have

in both cycles.
I have checked the input display many times, and both my cycles clearly excluded

.
In short, ex hozanto should not come out if done this way. I find this easier as the hcb is smaller now.
Thanks for this I avoid this Ultra due to the EX Hozanto coming out! I will try this out thanks!!!
I don’t really get a chance to use ultra 1 as much as would like to but i have a feeling if I used ultra 2 it might be more successful than using ultra1 how exactly would i do the ex run into ultra 2 for armor break? Ive watched videos on it but never gave it a try do to me working on other parts of my guy game.
From what I can tell, u can do it on:
- untrue block strings, provided that they cancel into something that is not armor breaking.
- pokes with long recovery frames.
- wakeup meatys , safe jump meatys
- This is canceling. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Tx5ikso8p84&feature=player_embedded
1 to 3 is done normally as in ultra after the ex stop. 4 is mashing all upon wake.
I find it very difficult to land it successfully. I spent 1 whole day predicting moves and no luck from 1 to 3 so far. i will try harder.
Well looks like I got some experimenting to do thanks for the run down on the info st lukes I appreciate it. I’m hoping guy gets something real good in the next update though.
been running some u2 setups all of em work except this one

it whiffs on hoza i tried both s.lp>light hoza and the one in the video they whiff for the most part but land rarely. is it just the pc version or am i doing something wrong?
I think its because of the pc version.
Hey guys I been watching videos of Guy and doing his trials as well, I really like his playstyle. I’m just wondering, are Guy’s combos that include his TC’s pretty viable? The reason why I’m asking is because I’m coming from a game (BlazBlue) where I’m not really used to 1 frame links (or 2 frame, etc.) and I’m still getting used to their timing and plinking. As for his TC’s though, I’ve been practicing with them and I feel pretty comfortable with them. So it would be nice to have some combos that I could rely on comfortably while learning his links in the process.
Thanks
Well although he does have chain combos… you are gonna have to use many of his 1f,2f links to be good… His Bushin chain combo is good for punishing and can be comboed into(From CL.HK ,CL.MK for biig damage) … But his Target combo(MP->HP) , needs to be used only at certain ranges against certain characters or it will whiff completely…
Most players use the Cr.LK->Cr.LK->S.MP->Run Slide combo as a bnb since its consistent and doesnt whiff…
Alright thanks, I hope I can get the whole 1f/2f links down. No matter what character I use I have a hard time with those links. Plinking helps a lot but I’m not as consistent with those yet.
