The Guy Q&A Thread: Post your questions here!

All this talk about Run > Stop without a discussion about the calculation of its frame data? Preposterous! Assuming my logic is correct, here is a complete list of my numbers for Run > Stop:
[] cl.MP xx Run > Stop is -1 on block and +3 on hit.
[
] st.MP xx Run > Stop is -8 on block and -5 on hit.
[] cr.MP xx Run > Stop is -8 on block and -5 on hit.
[
] st.MP > st.HP xx Run > Stop is -2 on block and +1 on hit.
Here are some other notes about Run > Stop:
[] cl.MP has a ton of block and hit stun.
[
] counter-hit cl.MP xx Run > Stop gives you a frame advantage of +6.

MADma3str0 and dialupsucky have shown that some form of counter-hit st.HP xx Run > Stop, including the st.HP from Target Combo, can be followed by Bushin Chain.
This_Is_K1 said it best. Run > Stop pressure only works when your opponent is on edge and afraid of what you can do and what you’re going to do.

I’m having problems doing wakeup run armor cancel to ultra 1. My inputs as I’m getting up are 2 qcf motions, lk-mk for the run armor. As it hits and absorbs I immediatly hit kickx3 and nothing happens. Is it a timing issue? Or am I doing something wrong with my inputs.

Again here’s my exact input. Qcfx2,lk+mk,kickx3
Also I’m using a madcatz fightpad.

Ultra 1 is done with 3k not 3p. :coffee:

Due to internet problems I was forced to sit in the Danger Room for a while. And I recognised, that MP does 60 dmg and HP does 100 Dmg. But the Target Combo does only 100 dmg…wtf?!

LP-20 Dmg
MP-60 Dmg
HP-100 Dmg
HK- 100 Dmg
Total= 280

Bushin chain only does 214. That’s just how the game is sir.

Yeah but cl st mp has alot of push back even on hit. Frame data info doesn’t contribute to these properties.

Forgot to mention its character specific I know that much.

That’s what I meant my bad.

You have to cancel it on the very first frame of EX run, also its not as useful as you’d think since U1 has 11 frames of start up, most normal moves will be safe from it, and all jump ins will be safe.

After run slide knockdown, Neutral Jump Medium Kick is a safe jump?

Yes. Pretty much his only option against most characters if they are crouching.

Well its either the Safejump (which some characters can be hit by nj hp. or EX bushin flip. Run/slide is usually the better option when midscreen, when close to the corner, Mk tatsu is viable or hozanto depending if you are close enough to land a HK/EX Tatsu after the hozanto when the opponent is crouching.

What is Guy’s best option for AA and his pokes?

Siiigh how many times must we repeat this ._.

AA

EX Tatsu
TK Izuna
cr. mp
cr. mk
cr. hp
St. hk

Normals are character specific but usually you’ll me using the first 4 moves

Pokes

His best pokes are as follows

st.mk
st.mp
st.hp
st.hk
cr.mk
cr.hk
cr.mp

What do you guys think about up+immediate hk as antiair? I was trying in training last night… and could beat out all of ken’s j.normals using it. Further you can also combo hk tatsu after it hits… even midscreen.

You guys ever try it?

I think its one of guys most underused moves. At the same time dont think it will help you that much.

Air to air nj.hk juggled with hk tatsu into super in the corner is a sweet looking combo though.

I use that for safe jumps and air to air. Its really deceiving because ihis back can hit you.

1 hit into ex hozanto for nice damage.

Anyways tourney is in 6 days and I need some last minute tips agaisnt

Balrog, Chun li , Rose, Sim and Fei

should I play conservative agaisnt these guys?
its extremely hard to get in on balrog rose and fei.

Why would you want “to get in on” Fei Long. I main Fei and when I fight Guy it’s the ones that are running and jumping all over the place that give me problems. Fei Long has better normals than Guy so you don’t want to sit there and try to duke it out with him.

Well you got Six days.

I’m sure Avenger can help you on the Fei match up.

K1 plays Chun and a decent Rog.

And Miikey plays Rose unless you can manage to get a hold of Saqs

Sim… idk for him but I know Kiryu has played a few Sims so watch his matches against him.
