Thanks for that. I seem to have solved that now. I could go on, but there are many problems with the way I play in this game. I think the best way for me to improve would be for somebody to play against me. Does anyone on here use xbl?
I do. I would play a couple matches but realistically, it would be better to watch you play general matches. Guy players will typically find themselves pushed into scenarios created by the opponent and most typical Guy players simply aren’t aware of the tech and strategy to counter them properly - there are many which won’t come up in a Guy mirror match. Try and get into a lobby with one of the players here, or drop vids of your matches in the vid thread. Don’t get me wrong, I’ll still play a round or two with you np - but I could help a lot more seeing how you play other characters than how you play another Guy.

give me a rain check on joining a lobby. My y button just died on my MadCats SFIV TE 1. Had it since launch and the Sanwa’s are going. I NEED to replace the stick or the button before VS4.
So what are you Guys finding as the most reliable anti air? I miss my cr. Mp. Standing hk has a nice hit box but not always easy to throw out online for me…yet. Im scared to even attempt st. Lk. How have you modified your anti air game? I’m getting jumped in on alot.
I agree with missing cr.mp. Ryu and Dudley come to mind as two characters that cr.mp shut down and hk either gets stuffed or whiffs. Tried lk bit it seems useless to me, not enough active frames, need to be standing and seems iffy.
Anything past that magic shoto jump range hk is gdlk but inside that range I’m trying cr.mk with mixed results
I spent an entire day just focusing on grabbing things with nj.KIO and getting timing and spacing on it since my jump to ultra, as I honestly think it’s now the most effective aa.
But man is that shit difficult to get the nack of mid-match.
I just found it dumb that they removed the cr. Mp anti air. Guy is a close range fighter and needs close range moves. Why give him two anti airs that are from a distance? Cody has his close range anti air. Just sad inside
I get that cl.HK is only a frame slower than cr.mp but the extra time it takes to react by standing up is busting my balls ha ha. That and it seems to activate at times when I want far hk. Dunno if that makes sense but say a ryu jumps I go ‘sweet eat foot’ but by the time I’ve committed to it ryu has entered cl.HK range and I get stuffed.
Seems it could be an online thing though as it happens far less in a side by side situation, The competition I face offline is a way lower standard than my friends list so I can’t be sure.
