How do you guys think realistically Guilty Gear can move forward as a fighting game franchise? It seems ASW shot themselves in the foot a bit by making BB so similar. I can understand why the creator of GG Daisuke Ishiwatari took a backseat in BB development and handed the reigns over to someone else, as GG was his baby that he put all his heart and soul into and then lost the rights to. But now that they got the rights to GG back, it seems BB has borrowed much of GG and put it in an awkward spot. I personally wouldn’t want to see a GGvsBB as I haven’t been a big fan of BB (I would really like to give it another go tho) but am really loving GG and would like to keep them separate (as does Ishiwatari I believe).
Persona IMO doesn't necessarily count as I think it was a brilliant move on both Atlus and ASW's parts to bring fans over to both their respective franchises. It feels like an extremely simplified Guilty Gear that has helped ease the traditional fighting game fan (including me) crossover into the "anime fighter" style of ASW.
GG feels like a 3rd Strike to Persona Arena's SF2. I guess BB can be the Alpha maybe idk lol :P What do you guys think?
All of ASW’s games are for the same crowd but they all feel very different from each other so there’s enough room to develop personal preferences towards this or that.
What GG needs the most right now is modern aesthetics but that costs money that they are not willing to spend.
GG needs an HD remake. They could go even further and guarantee mainstream success if they made is a tangible product. A full on disk release. Half of the people on SRK have yet to play Guilty Gear, the XBL version was good, but it suffers from poor netcode and in comparison to BB, very dated sprites and backgrounds.
I don’t want GGACXX+R HD2013 Capcom Edition.
I just think that instead of +R. It should of been a new title with the balancing. I love Blazblue, but GG is just so much better, and it deserves a remake. a true, faithful one.
I meant simplicity wise if P4A can be related to SF2, GG feels like the 3rd Strike of that style of anime play with its’ technicality.
Does it really feel that much better??? I didn’t like these past BlazBlue’s slow gameplay and how the rounds could take so long.
An HD remake really? The game looks gorgeous already as is. The sprites still look great to this day and on HD monitors with the default AA filter and the backgrounds being fully 2D have that old school charm lost a bit by the newer 2D fighters’ 3D backgrounds.
If you watch videos BBCP is much faster paced, and combos finish a lot quick. The game overall is more interesting because you are in neutral a lot more here, probably means more setups are gonna be used than 8k combos now.
