In that Guile vs Guile battle, that FADC to Ultra was nasty! But I think it is potentially an answer to Ryu’s fireball trap that I sometimes get myself caught into .
Gilley has already gone through on how to execute it, but at least it is something worth practising to enhance and further improve my Guile gameplay. I find myself having to Cancel my focus attack as a number of my opponents keep jumping away or getting out of range when they see me get into the Focus attack stance. But least now we have seen the value of it :wgrin:
Any Guile Vs Abel Videos that are worth posting? :wonder:
From what I have seen, even the good Guile players can have a hard time keeping Abel away. Abel has a lot of tools for applying pressure and setting up some nasty scenarios.
Even though I have just started using Abel, I am sort of getting the idea of what he is capable of doing but not yet confident of playing him at a high level.
Great stuff :wgrin:… I managed to beat a decent Zangief player as well by using lots of sonic booms, EX Sonic Booms and anti airs like the flash kick and S HP. the C HP doesn’t seem to be that effective against Gief due to his jumping arch but i did use the DF+HK more often than I did in the past. I was annoyed with myself for not charging for the FK after the DF + HK, but spite of this I plan on using this one vs any gief. Again Syngin, credit goes to you
The guy i was playing against was using lots of banishing punches to close in and destroy fireballs, but what i did manage to do was to land a backfist each time he cancelled out the sonic boom and then zoned again. But I had to be on the lookout for the EX banishing punch as it has insane prority. :arazz:
I find that c.hp works great if you dash in under him and he doesn’t use that crazy mk. Oh, and don’t forget Guile’s s.mk; not great against Geffa, but be sure to get used to using it.
For the banishing flat, remember that if you block either the normal or EX versions, or you get hit by a normal one, you can throw him for free; try to use the long throw rather than the suplex as you get more distance and less recovery differential.
Good work; this is easily Guile’s toughest match for pure zoning and learning it will put you in good stead for many other match-ups.
Cool i never thought about throwing Gief after he does either version of the banishing punch, as i was more concerned about his potential follow ups. But i guess you need to throw quickly on reaction before he SPD’s you?:wonder:
from the video i saw, it looks like S HP is faster and effective if Zangief does the banishing punch and ends up next to you. But I used the F+HP as he was further away when he did it. So i think using S HP or F HP will depend on distance. .
I find that the S MK is more reliable on smaller characters.
There’s a specific and easy window for the throw, but to start with just mash it out during your hitstun or blockstun phase. Zangief is at -5 frames (best case), so you’re +2 for the throw. Hell, if you block the EX, he’s at -9: time enough to make a cup of coffee before you wreck his face.
You’ll find the same thing “kinda”* works on Boxer after a TAP which leaves him next to you.
*According to the frame data on the wiki, he only gets -2 frames on level 1 so he can tech. your throw (or as is a common setup for a boxer player here, ultra into your throw whiff), but at level 2+, your options get pretty funky.
