The Great Gatsby ( with Leonardo DiCaprio OMG! )

Nothing says “1920s” than futuristic hip hop with autotune.

The dude playing Tom Buchanan is FRIGHTENINGLY similar to how I imagined him while reading the book. Each 3 times I’ve read it.

Uppercut those people, and disregard everything they say.

Actual Thought: This is a great book based around social mobility and the American dream.

SRK Thought: This is the OG ‘hoes gon be hoes’ story.

I personally thought the book was lame, but there is an audience for it. I think the whole criticism of America and the observations between the old and new rich were really overshadowed by soap opera drama. That said, it’s part of the forced reading material you have to read in high school, and I would say it’s safe to say that the majority of books you’re force fed aren’t horrible. Reading it almost felt like it was reading a dime novel though.

PS. Goosebumps is better than this POS. Goosebumps was awesome and was the only art or culture i needed in class. Sorry if it’s too pleb for you fancy tea drinkers. Goosebumps 4 lyfe.

ALRIGHT LITERARY DISCUSSION

dont remember the story at all but im sure its 100000% better than twilight. it definitely didn’t make an impression on me when i read it.

goosebumps is fucking garbage. good childrens books are anything written by roald dahl, wrinkle in time series, chronicles of prydain series, and wheres waldo.

there were a lot of books that i didn’t get to read in high school. like lord of the flies. probably one of my favorite books. had to read it on my own time. instead make way for milton’s paradise lost. some questionable choices on the curriculum at school. although i must say i enjoyed reading Emma. teacher assigned it, i was like ew, but it ended up being a page turner. finished that in a day. never though i’d like a book written by that chick flick author. no homo.

people think Baz Luhrmann could make a good movie?

Is Gatsby still going to get shot in the ass while chilling in the pool in this version?

Stopped watching the trailer after the Moulin Rogue name drop.

I too can’t remember shit from that book. And this movie looks like a spectacle. I’ll pass.

zzzzzz

I’m suprised that nobody has revived this thread yet, but I’m sure a couple of people on here have seen it. I just saw it tonight, and I must say that it really dragged on and the chracter development could have been better. The visuals were very well done and so was the soundtrack. That being said, I still think Luhrmann did a far better job on Romeo + Juliet.

Wow…and Romeo + Juliet was super boring for me.
I’m skipping this film.

Nice and great movie!

Whoa, I completely forget about this movie. But then again, I didn’t show much interests. Just more shocked as to why there was a movie being made based on this.

Sounds like it wasn’t good, eh?

The visuals were nice. I always thought it was hard for movies back then to show Gatsby’s parties. I didn’t like Leo’s take on Gatsby especially when I swear he keeps saying “old spore”. Maybe it was me, but they tried to make Daisy’s character too sympathetic as opposed to the book where she was just a plain ho.

saw it for 6 dollars.

cool visuals

decent soundtrack, but, could have been much much better.

DiCaprio does his thing.

6 out of 10.

Whenever I see Leonardo Dicaprio I will always see him as Calvin Candie now.

I thought the book was fucking abysmal, by the way. I was subjected to it in highschool. I can’t think of anything I read in highschool or college that I disliked more.

I don’t expect I will much care for the Great+Gatsby treatment.
