I was a paperboy for a few years. Even then I would also wake up early saturday mornings to catch cartoons. I wake up early normally.
The truth is that staying up is terrible for your health and sleeping a good 8 hours will do more for your enjoyment of life than anything else.
But you guys ain’t ready for that level of Truth yet.
I sleep 8-11 hours every night, the difference is I can fit them into my schedule as I see fit.

Don’t generalize, staying up late is wrong only for certain ages.
For example for teen is actually the most natural thing to do, and they should actually wake up later than school allows them.

Its bad for kids and teens too. You do most of your growing while asleep. Waking up early for kids and teens is bad because they need longer sleeping time.

You’re absolutely right and I agree with you: schools should start later too. But that’s a discussion that half of the US population isn’t ready for. Just like we aren’t ready for the discussion that school time should be shorter.
All in all the way we live is all fucked up and it bothers me greatly.

No, I’m serious, they do need 8 hours of sleep, but studies show that teens are hard wired to go to sleep late, it’s not that they don’t want to sleep, is that they physically can’t.
The last one I read recommended at least 10 for teens.

The circadian rhythm varies for people. On most days, I go to sleep between 1 and 3am, and I sleep very soundly. I lift at a reasonably high level and wouldn’t be able to sustain that if my sleeping habits were poor.
Average schools here have mainly two “periods” that you can pick out from: Morning (7am~12pm) and Afternoon (1pm~5pm).
If I ever have a kid, I’ll make sure to put them on the afternoon period. It’s hella important that they sleep well.
