Well, when you lump all 3D games together as “3D movement games”, shit is bound to get silly.
After the N64-era, you can see some new genres and unique games. For example DMC. Nothing on the N64 and PS1 was like it.
In more recent times, you got RE7 in VR.
But don’t take my word for it, watch this.
What, you want the jump from 3D to 4D?
A lot of the innovation in older gens was related to much bigger leaps in technology.
The thing now is that game designers can’t rely on that anymore. Graphics are already pretty good, the jump to 3D was done over 20 years ago, many genres are already established. You need ambition and raw creativity.
It’s why I respect Nintendo so much, as gimmicky as they are, they keep trying to reinvent themselves and do something new.

Why make something new when you can make money off the same old shit with way less risk? You see the same stagnation going on in Hollywood right now.
I definitely get what you mean. Consoles are basically a hardware version of Madden/FIFA games where the only noticeable improvements seem to be graphics and processing. At least as far as the PS and Xbox are concerned. Nintendo still seems to try and innovate as far as consoles and games go.
Edit: I’m still waiting on some truly large scale games. Like why is Planetside the only large scale shooter?

So the Dinosaur game is going to be like Left for Dead? Seeing as we are not going to get a third game to that series, I’ll be looking out for it.

And that bitch was always needless in the SamSho franchise. Somehow, they still managed to make it worse.

Maybe not open world, but just larger scale in general. More people and way larger maps than you see in most games. Something like Battlefield but bigger and more ambitious.
Are you familiar with the fabled (and canceled) Star Wars Battlefront 3? That game was supposed to have battles with both a ground and space element, where you fight for the ground, board ships in space, etc as one seamless experience. Stuff like that is what I’m talking about. A change of pace from the same old arena shit on small maps where fights happen the same way almost every time. I want something bigger but also more organic.
Edit: More interactive environments is also something video games desperately need imo.

Because of lore reasons, Iroha is the only character in SamSho so far that doesn’t have a regular dash. Just a hop. That’s going to take some time to get used to.
I guess I will use the money I saved not buying that samurai game that went downhill today and buy the MK Aftermath pack on steam.

Forgot I re-downloaded MK11 last night. I would like to play it more to be honest, but I hate that my choices are completely randomized matchmaking w/ custom variations, or ranked matches w/ limited ones
