One of the things that made GG awesome was that the chars felt strong.
Not every game needs to be about gimped characters that are super weaksauce because they always lack the tools to even be played effectively at what they are supposedly mean to be playing.

It’s already known that Frost is a huge asshole, he has shown a very simliar behaviour in the past on multiple occasions.
Heck he was once a mod, then decided to go after you and then got called out by D3V for his behaviour.
If anything, he just acts like he always did, if he isn’t hidding his true face.

IIRC, Pot was good, but not really better than Sol.
For a good amount time many people assumed he was A tier but as time went on, people figured out the matchup and he was set as B tier.
He still suffered in certain matchups (Testament, Zato, Slayer)
Funny enough, Slayer was also another char that everyone thought was on Par with Zato and Testament, but as time went on, he moved down on tiers too.
Pot and slayer were usually both put in the same tier even towards the end of the games life span from what I remember.

Devs fuck up all the time when making characters. Sometimes its on accident, other times its silly shit like Rashid. There are certain things that are fundamentally wrong for certain games ( Birdie’s can in SF5 I think is a massive mistake the way it is right now).
Mans accidentally put a bunch of arguments as to why Wild Throw is an issue from a balance stand point for Sol though.
Shit man, I’ve spent time trying to work out whether or not DPs were too god in SF2. Super fast invincible moves are crazy. But then there’s instances where they aren’t that good even with all the properties. They’re cool convos to have.
Yeah, I’m always wondering whether or not there are moves that characters have which they shouldn’t. I’m not entirely convinced Fei Long needed a command grab in SF4. Sometimes certain EX moves have characters doing things they shouldn’t. Not the same as “this character shouldn’t have an anti air”. But Axl and Ferry have DPs in their games; don’t know if I’d feel the same if Menat and Sim had one.

Your 1st mistake is to think that the situation is comparable to something like SF.
The base from where the chars on GG are being build is completely different from the bases of SF.
For starters, we have plenty of universal mechanics, defensive tools and mobility options that allow for the chars to be more strong when being designed.
Yes, Sol has a invul DP that if it were to put on SF it would need to be nerfed inmmediately.
But since this is GG, you have a lot of stuff that allows you to maneuver around it.
And no, i am not getting mad, lol, by now you should know me pretty well, this is a convo we both had in the past, and has been talked a lot on the site as well.

The thing is that you cant really think about designing characters ignoring the context of the game they are being played.
What could seem like a bad idea on a game, it makes sense on another.
In the context of GG, a char like Sol having a command grap to open up his opponents makes sense, since he will be otherwise innefective at the archetype he is trying to play.
After all, if you are being put on a situation where you are eating wild throws all day is all on you, since you have plenty of stuff to thow his game off to work with.

With only Testament and Eddie sitting at the top on S and Millia having A for herself.
For starters, it still has Chipp as C when he was considered mid top by the end of AC

You are trying to argue that what makes chars interesting are its limitations.
And while that works for SF (imo it really doesnt), that thing for sure is not the way to go on a game like GG.
The philosophy so far has always been to make Interesting and strong chars with tools that are fun to play with and try to find interesting ways to use them, all while being backed by strong universal tools that every chars has access to.
I’ve been on a vegetarian diet for over 3 years now and it did help me shed some weight and feel better about myself.

That already happens in GG. Milia doesnt have a DP, Faust doesnt have a DP or a straight forward command grab, Potemkin doesnt have a dash etc.
So yeah, Guilty Gear is full of limitations on characters as is. None of the stuff you mentioned covers why Sol should have a command grab. On the other hand, Sol gets to do almost as much damage as a pot buster, amd can do burst safe combos from it too.
Having strong tools doesnt mean having every tool possible.
Edit: there are plenty of examples from other games where adding tool would detract. If cable had an 8 way dash in MvC2, that ish would be mad dumb.
